lol jk, lots of people do it. feel like it goes against the whole spirit of trading cards as a motivation to actually play the games you bought, though....

The trading cards are a Skinner box mechanism for Valve to tax pennies off the secondary market so I don't think feeling bad about any of it is required

considering you can probably get a few bucks from it, it's about as lame as actually returning your beer bottles vs. leaving them out for the bottle hunters on recycling day

I let it run over the weekend, it's burned through around 25% of my available drops and I'm about £4 up, so I guess by the end of the week it'll have cleared my backlog and made me enough to buy The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

The trouble with trading cards as a motivator to play backlogged games is that they're still not enough of a motivator to get me to play some of the truly awful shit I've picked up in various bundles here and there.

Mine's running now! I think I've gotten ~20 of ~400 drops so far. I guess it's gonna take a while. I'm going to sell everything I have eventually and return w/ the total gamebux$ made.

Holy shit -- while marketplacing all of my cards, I decided to click over to all of the TF2 crap I have and never use because I never play TF2... among the one or two dozen random 0.08$ items, one of them goes for... $10.26? Bill's Hat? Holy crap.

Yeah, Bill's Hat has always been one of those valuable TF2 trinkets, like the white iPod earbuds. Especially since that was a pre-F2P pre-order bonus that never got reproduced...

Now if only I knew how to automate card selling.

was the mac earbuds, a dude added me with the same name as the guy who sent me a dota2 invite (was also a friends coworker so i thought it was legit) and asked for the item. i had no idea how much it was worth and since i thought he was the same guy who gave me the invite, i just traded it over for free

Kept forgetting to run Idlemaster in the background so it took a while, but it's farmed all my cards for me now, so far I'm on £9.88 and I still have 62 active marketplace listings, of the approx 260 cards it pulled, so I guess that means I'll finish on something like £13.

dirt3: complete edition now on steam + available for the mac. is it any good? i've been dying for an enjoyable racing game since... idk daytona usa maybe or super off road. i've tried many iterations of gran turismo but they were all unsatisfying.

140 was exactly as long as it needed to be, which is a thing I really appreciate! it would have been even better if the music was actually good and the last boss challenge wasn't so ennnnnnnhh. Solid eight out of ten.

Has anyone else tried Californium? I'm digging it so far

what's Californium like? sounds pretty unique from the stuff on the site but can't get a grasp on what it's actually like to play

I played Firewatch; it was a confoundingly beautiful game, but I'm just not sure how much "there" there is there, if you get my drift. The ending is a total copout, and I struggled mightily to not hear Harry Crane jabbering into those walkie-talkies. again, however, it is a CONFOUNDINGLY gorgeous game; I'll remember that park way on down the line.

on balance I recommend it - I do have a few reservations, but it's still a worthwhile expenditure of time IMO
