iirc there are more people that graduate each year with a journalism degree than there are journalists employed in the US. every. year.

there were a couple people in this philosophy of logic course I took in college (it counted as a _math credit_ for journalism majors) who just couldn't get the different between falsifiable things and non-falsifiable things. I believe they also struggled on labeling fact vs. opinion. I can only assume they are highly-regarded journalists now.

about half of them seem to have no clue how to read context or tone into stuff, whether it's because they're too young or sheltered to have the background or because of some other reason, and the other half seems to be deeply disingenuous
