i try to avoid headphones whenever possible to avoid further damage to my stupid ears

the charge on the pads drains so quickly you need more than one pad? how quickly are we talking here, like minutes?

I think I typically get a few hours, but the cable provided is like 30cm, so you can't charge-while-you-play unless you're parked in front of the TV. Also, what typically happens to me is that I've charged it, played for a couple of hours, watched some Netflix. Next day I go to play and after 5mins it says it's dead.

Yeah, the battery life on the DS4 is terrible. If you've got an outlet near where you play, though, you can plug a microUSB cable into any USB charger and play and charge at the same time.

the better part of twenty years they've been making these controllers and they keep finding ways to make them more expensive and worse

The charge on mine is fine and this is probably the best controller I've used so ymmv

Shoot. I was hoping for this next year. Have they confirmed it'll be a PS4 exclusive? Would hope, like most of the other games in the series, it'd come out on the 360/xbone, too.

Speaking of SH, this SH book looks pretty good. Can anyone confirm?

I'm playing inFamous at the moment, and I think it's ok, but I'm glad to hear it's only about 10 hours long cos it's starting to get fairly tedious, and I've just cleared the top 'island'. Don't know that I could face the expansion, but nice to see a couple of non-Indies coming up for PS4.

I might have messed up my experience by my normal videogame compulsion to level up as much as possible before doing too many story missions. I found by the time I got all the powers there was nothing more to interest me in the game. Also I cannot fucking STAND your character, a 90's-style "whatever man" 'tude dude that you're forced to endure through umpteen unskippable cutscenes.

Titan Attacks is free with Plus. It's fun, get it.

i enjoyed it for about an hour. Got past the first four bosses then let it go; didn't feel like wasted time. Pseudo RPG space invaders with upgraded gen attackers past each level; I imagine by level 10 you're in bullet hell mode.

There's a current deal at Target - you can get a Black Friday bundle for $340 ($60 off) w/Last of US HD and GTA V, in addition to a free $20 PSN card (and from what I hear, an ADDITIONAL $10 PSN card as well w/the included games). Really tempting me... I think I'm gonna go to the store after work to agonize over the cardboard box.

Considering I have probably over 100 games in my 360/PS3/3DS backlog this is a bad idea. BUT THE DEAL.

I broke. They were out of GTAV/TLOS bundles, but I got one with the Pick One digital download instead (one of Destiny, Far Cry 4, NBA 2K15, Little Big Planet 3). Huzzah!

fc4 is fun, I'm playing it now. if you've played fc3 it's very similar - fixes a lot of the problems of that game but somehow I'm not enjoying it as much so far.

lol him and the brother suck. still had fun playing it, the mechanics are pretty tight (excluding the lame banksy graffiti shit). liked it enough to grab first light which i'll prob like more since the neon stuff was the best part and she's a much more tolerable main char

FYI, a bunch of PS4 launch titles are on sale at Best Buy this week for $20 - Infamous: Second Son, Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall. May bite.

I think Second Son is free on PS+ this month.

I just picked it up (in Hong Kong, for about half the price) and I'm enjoying it so far in a stripped down Gran Turismo kind of way. Haven't got onto much of the social stuff, partly since I don't know anyone else with it. I haven't tested out whether the disastrous online problems have been fixed yet either.

i've got it. looks truly amazing but it feels pretty restrictive and dull compared to forza horizon 2, which I bought a couple of weeks before and is the most fun I've ever had with a driving game. the online component seemed to be working fine every time I've played but fuck a multiplayer imo

I'm playing Witcher 3 again on NG+ on the hardest setting. Certainly makes things like the combat a lot more challenging than the first time round. It was the first game I played on PS4 so I feel a bit spoilt, seeing as it is considered a Best In Class RPG. It really is an epic game with a huge amount of attention to detail.

Coming back to it again now I've played a few other things though, I'd say there are a few things they could have improved:

- More interesting and varied combat. This is where Bloodborne wins out. In Witcher there's a ton of different spells and potions you can use to win fightsz but ultimately it's a bit like following a recipe and once you know that recipe all you really need to do is go in and melee a bit until you eventually win

- Less of the rote fetch quests. I remember this from the first time round. For all its depth and world building, the majority of Witcher is "Speak to a peasant, go kill the monster, come back and get your reward". The minimap tells you where everything is, so once you're leveled up enough, you can complete quests in a zombie-like trance without really absorbing too much.

- Horses and NPCs. I didn't think RDR2 was a better game, but these two factors are where it clearly topped Witcher. It's barely worth riding Roach the vast majority of the time because she's just so unreliable and doesn't really handle much like a horse. Also, you can't attack NPCs and they really don't mind if you walk into their homes and Rob them in broad daylight.

Other than that, it's the best game ever made

Sony bought Bungie yesterday for $3.6 billion. Bungie have some very talented people, but the only series of note that they own is Destiny. Hope Sony's money guys know what they're doing.

I think one of the main reasons Sony spent all that money was for the tech and expertise in running a global online service game, something they didn't have which would be v expensive to build out. e.g. how much money would an Uncharted themed Destinylike make?

From that end it does make sense; they already have the lock on critically acclaimed single-player cinematic adventure from their first-party studios, but multiplayer addiction is the real moneymaker these days.
