I just meant online multiplayer peggle. Don't know how it works, yet.

JimD, Wednesday, 11 March 2009 23:12 (seventeen years ago)

waaaaaaaaaaaaaait, online peggle? DLing now.

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 12 March 2009 01:04 (seventeen years ago)

yes I am very interested in this, d/ling demo now

Euler, Thursday, 12 March 2009 01:22 (seventeen years ago)

it reminds me of the best pinball games, where you can have little skill but still see a lot of flashing lights and sounds and points piling up so you feel like a bad-ass.

tried geometry wars for the first time tonight and was much more O_O over that.

bnw, Thursday, 12 March 2009 04:12 (seventeen years ago)

i am not RRODing, but i seem to be getting stuck at the signing in screen with the pulsing green circle. worrisome.

Deborah Drapper: Servant Of God (jjjusten), Thursday, 12 March 2009 06:28 (seventeen years ago)

ok yeah i am hoping that there is some central problem w/xbox live, otherwise i think my xbox has just taken a dirtnap.

Deborah Drapper: Servant Of God (jjjusten), Thursday, 12 March 2009 06:32 (seventeen years ago)

I couldn't connect to xblive last night - was thinking it was my network...

problem chimp (Porkpie), Thursday, 12 March 2009 10:05 (seventeen years ago)

does anyone have a problem with the picture being slightly shimmery at times? or is it my tv?

ledge, Thursday, 12 March 2009 10:15 (seventeen years ago)

there is no multi-peggle in the demo though to make clear. it's addictive and fun but i'll wait til next month to decide if it's worth the points.

sonderangerbot, Thursday, 12 March 2009 18:26 (seventeen years ago)

i dunno if i can buy the same game three times.

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 12 March 2009 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

?

bnw, Thursday, 12 March 2009 18:36 (seventeen years ago)

pc/ds/360

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 12 March 2009 18:37 (seventeen years ago)

wow Peggle is great! I (knowingly) fell for the "if you bought this then you'd get an achievement", but then played for another 2 hours afterward so I don't regret the $10. I'm anxious to try the multi.

Euler, Friday, 13 March 2009 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

The screenshots of Fight Night 4 look amazing. Very excited for this game.

Started ranked duelling in peggle tonight. Played 5, won five, got up to number 33 on the overall leaderboard! Played two more, won both, should easily have put me in the top five...except both were against CHEAP MOTHERFUCKING CUNTS who unplugged as I played my winning shots, denying me the wins as far the leaderboards are concerned. Played one more, got a horifically shitty final bounce, dropped down to 130something. Gnyah.

JimD, Saturday, 14 March 2009 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

i played some gta:tlatd team deathmatch the other night, dudes were ragging on my name in the lobby and then, they all switched teams so i was on my own, vs two teams of 3. one team had 2 helicopters and was constantly blowing the shit out of me, and then i received an XBOX live message from one of the other team, saying "you come into the subway and we fucking kill you". it was a little unsettling.

that sounds so sad but am 18 so suck ma b*ws (stevie), Saturday, 14 March 2009 10:22 (seventeen years ago)

haha!! jeez

cozwn, Saturday, 14 March 2009 11:44 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, gta stories like that are what keep me from embracing the wider multiplayer experience. I play with friends on there a lot, but whenever we recruit someone from the general population (a prison term, like Brucie notes, used intentionally) I'm shocked at their idiocy. I mean they can play pretty well, but the crap they spew while doing it, ridiculous.

Online Peggle I think I can get with. I played local multi with my kids and wife yesterday. At one point my two-year old beat my six-year old, without even moving the stick at all. She was so proud, her first video gaming! My son took it in stride, thankfully. Then my wife beat me 10 times in a row. I guess there is skill to this after all!

Euler, Saturday, 14 March 2009 13:16 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I also schooled ledge in the skill of peggle last night. :)

JimD, Saturday, 14 March 2009 13:18 (seventeen years ago)

2-1 wasn't it, more or less? that's hardly schooling! i still maintain it's just luck.

ledge, Saturday, 14 March 2009 13:58 (seventeen years ago)

uh oh, PEGGLE BEEF!

a thread for clams that you are free to disregard (jjjusten), Saturday, 14 March 2009 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

2-1 wasn't it, more or less

Haha, two huge drubbings versus one close thing. And then you dropped out!

JimD, Saturday, 14 March 2009 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

peggle ragequit??

cozwn, Saturday, 14 March 2009 15:33 (seventeen years ago)

brutal pwngglage

a thread for clams that you are free to disregard (jjjusten), Saturday, 14 March 2009 15:36 (seventeen years ago)

After my wife went up 10-0 last night (we ended the night with her 15-2) there was serious domestic discord. I am holding out that it was mere beginner's luck, except that I've only been playing for one day too.

Euler, Saturday, 14 March 2009 15:37 (seventeen years ago)

stevie, what's your Live name that they were all ragging on?

Mordy, Saturday, 14 March 2009 16:10 (seventeen years ago)

And then you dropped out!

what, now it's a sin not to sit playing the same repetitive game all night long? ;)

ledge, Saturday, 14 March 2009 23:03 (seventeen years ago)

you ragequit reg delmot, admit it! anyway I'll be done for playing in some of these flatmate-on-flatmate passive-aggression multiplayer peggle sessions! if you see me on, hit me up

cozwn, Saturday, 14 March 2009 23:34 (seventeen years ago)

Peggle just ate my entire afternoon and evening, yikes.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 15 March 2009 03:48 (seventeen years ago)

it'll do that.

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 15 March 2009 04:12 (seventeen years ago)

mordy, it was stevietonychick, my actual name, which made the ragging sting all the more.

that sounds so sad but am 18 so suck ma b*ws (stevie), Sunday, 15 March 2009 11:37 (seventeen years ago)

i think i need to hone my peggle skills a bit more before going into online matches again. you bastards.

I wonder if any of you know a good resource for learning which games are "region free", meaning that they can be played on both a US and European 360? I'm moving to Europe from the US and am considering just buying a new 360 when I arrive, rather than bringing my US one along and buying a European power supply for it---the latter, as I understand it, will cost almost half the price of a new 360. Let me know if you think I'm on the wrong track here. But I ask about the region free games since I have a bunch already and don't want to buy new games in Europe (at first, at any rate, I'm only staying for a year at this point).

Euler, Friday, 20 March 2009 12:25 (seventeen years ago)

It varies title to title, annoyingly. But yeah, plenty of US games will work in the UK.

Overly complex compatibility list here.

JimD, Friday, 20 March 2009 13:07 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, sorry, that's not so useful without the link. But if you search this thread for the word "region" you'll get it.

JimD, Friday, 20 March 2009 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

Thanks, Jim. All my games save GTA4 and the ones I'm already planning on selling are PAL compatible, so no real problem.

Two other related questions, if anyone can help me:

1. I was considering bringing my hard drive with, and then plugging that into the European 360. In particular, I'd like this so that I can continue to play my xbla games. Is this going to work?

2. Will my US controllers work?

I suspect the answer to both is 'yes' but maybe someone here knows better?

Euler, Friday, 20 March 2009 13:33 (seventeen years ago)

Pads will be fine, the hard drive question is a bit of a tricky one though. I'm not 100% sure on how it works, but as far as I know the DRM which ties an XBLA game to your hard drive ties it to the specific console, as well as (or maybe instead of) to the drive itself, so if you take the drive off and plug it into another console, the games stop working. This is to stop (for example) two kids buying and completing a game each, then swapping hard drives, thus cheating MS out of two additional sales. I could be wrong about this though, it's not something I've tried myself.

JimD, Friday, 20 March 2009 13:38 (seventeen years ago)

eek, ok, that would changes things. I'll have to look into this further.

Euler, Friday, 20 March 2009 14:13 (seventeen years ago)

when i switched from using my bro's xbox360 to my own, i simply transferred my XBLA account to the new machine, and transferred my save games via a memory card thingvum - might that solve the problem? obv i had to redownload the XBLA games.

Darramouss Darramouss will he do the fandango? (stevie), Friday, 20 March 2009 14:30 (seventeen years ago)

ok, that would be cool; I'm trying to avoid having to buy a new hard drive too, but I guess those don't cost that much at this point.

or maybe I'll troll the Paris craigslist for a used 360 instead.

Euler, Friday, 20 March 2009 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

Guys, I am sorry. I want to play SF2HD with you. But I recently got my F3 back. And I need to play that. Obsessively. My (second character) redhead firecracker just blew up Megaton. Cause she's fucking psycho like that.

Mordy, Saturday, 21 March 2009 19:45 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha, okay, i'll stop inviting you.

seriously, launching this with braid and then following it up with add on bullshit for relatively unpopular games is LAME

I will "Build This City" on your GODDAMN GRAVE (jjjusten), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

no offense to anyone who likes either of them, but ninja gaiden II and battlestations midway DLC seems pretty C list IMHO

I will "Build This City" on your GODDAMN GRAVE (jjjusten), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

agreed

maybe the Braid sale was too popular.

Euler, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

they're doing alien hominid HD for half price next week (400 points)so thats something i guess. anyone played it/have any thoughts on it?
