Yeah, taking him out with arrows; the issue was the final guy before the king and having to go through ten minutes of fighting seven tough dudes and then losing to the final guy when he was at 1/4 health after a ten minute fight. Finally broke down and brought help and killed him right off. Halfway through the dragon aerie now.

ok i got through the dlc, it was pretty great. couldn't have beat Elana without solid co-op, and i tried to pay it forward by helping people against the dragon (probably the easiest but also the most fun boss?).
i thought it would be a drag having to replay the game in ng+ just to access the dlc (and going through the pit/gutter/gulch again kinda was), but it was pretty fun speeding through huntsman's copse/harvest/valley/earthen peak to get to the next one.

no no, you can access it without ng+. it's way harder to access if you started ng+, because doing so clears out all of your bonfire checkpoints.
