It depends on what your playstyle, really; if you want a character to soak up dmg so Spidey can focus heal him, then go for a high HP tank (hi dere Thor). I personally like webbing most of the AI team and bursting them down with escalating damage, so I usually forgo tanks unless they're buffed for an event and go for other low HP/high dmg characters, because Spidey is usually preemptively keeping me from taking dmg anyway and then I can drop the hammer with various dmg dealers, my faves being heavy strike/attack tile characters (currently into AstWolvie or Daken because they also boost Spidey/MagNow dmg; Daken is IMO the best fit because all of his abilities are passive and you get so many strike tiles that it doesn't feel bad to suck some up for MagNow's red but AstWolvie gets you more dmg overall. If I had more covers, Doom and Punisher would also be in play).

OBW/MagNow/Wolvie is also a great team because Wolvie buffs OBW's extra dmg and you still have MagNow as a blue battery and a red nuker that clears the board for cascade city. In the last event where they were all buffed, I was running OBW/MagNow/CStorm and I steamrollered over every single opponent I fought.

I'm 300 points away from black Hulk, I'm surprised at how reachable and how valuable these rewards are.

yes, and the proliferation of progression results right now gives the game new "one more turn" urgency

my buffed Pun is SO much fun to play; DJP otm on 3-5-5 l85 Magnow + my five blue cover l79 Spidey + my mondo buffed 5-4-3 Pun (~l190 buffed!) in the Pun tourney. yeah I'll merely rack up Loki covers but it's so damn fun

i got to 615 pts on day one in that tourney, believe i'm knocked back down to 400 by now but damn, it's compulsively playable.

I can see the argument but, given Falcon's powers, I can't see how anyone could be considered better than him once levelled. His one active ability effectively makes your team invulnerable!

(and then his main passive makes you both more invulnerable and hit harder)

Also his animations are long. Also it slowed my tablet to a crawl once his stuff got on board.

thank you for alerting me to that reward, I will be much more diligent in playing season-related events (been screwing around mostly in the simulator when not passed out asleep or working)

if you don't take down a leveled hood first, he's really the worst.

but if you have a fast team, going against hood is way more manageable than any number of other combos...

i'm trying to gain ~100 points in the SHIELD simulator tourney per day, pacing myself up - currently 1028pts. besides, The Simulator seems difficult already to stay caught up - I've cleared all the levels for at least one reward, have to play pretty often to stay Top 50 in my brackets. Plus, the Pun tourney of course

I agree with this. Abilities can do a lot more damage than matches, and The Hood with 5 blue can prevent you from using any good ones until he's dead.

It puts out protect tiles adding up to 714. The better 3* abilities do much more damage than that. e.g. Patch's red can do over 10000 damage.

I looked up the strongest attacks in the game.

Venom black: instant kill
Patch red: 13824
Hulk red: 11432
GS Black Widow green: 10008 (spread across team) + tile/match damage
Black Panther black: 9486 (spread)
Moonstone red: potentially 8992 but it will never happen
CMags purple: 8268 + match damage
Daredevil red: 7712
Lazy Thor green: 7710 (spread)
Ares green: 6210
CStorm blue: 5010 (spread)

I got the 10-pack progression reward -- it had 5 3* covers! including my 13th Lazy Thor cover, although I still want to get another yellow.

4 open roster spots, 200 hp.

i hesitate to call playing this "eventful" under any circumstances, but an "eventful" week: extra punisher card and my first 100+ level character, level max to cover capability for torch and classic mags, final covers for bagman and ares means that i know have every two and one star character cover maxed... no more excitement from silver covers again. On the other hand, with the exception of green hulk and purple grey widow, i still need every three and four star cover available. thus beginneth the superlong endgame. I've said this a dozen times but what's the point in making 1 and 2 star characters if every new character released from now on is three stars?

From here, I have to finish maxing out ares and then back to leveling up patch, grey widow / loki / ragnarok / i40 in line after, barring any new three star cover pickups. Hoping to get that black hulk cover shortly and will be fighting for the heroic 10pack over the next two weeks.

i think the only reason for 1 and 2* characters at this point is so new players have more content to get through before they start hitting the 3*s

i wouldn't wait on the Season 1 points, forks - you'll get points for the Loki tourney (and whatever character tourneys we get after) much more quickly than ranking up the SHIELD training - just burn up a few hundred pts. at least

Just a little bit demoralizing that I've been pulling something like 60% Yelenas the past two weeks.

Hustled to get to #9 with ~820 points in the Loki PVP, let's see if those two Doom covers will be mine.
