Doctor Casino, Friday, 28 February 2014 20:42 (twelve years ago)

Nhex, Saturday, 1 March 2014 00:51 (twelve years ago)

http://gradinggame.com/prototype.html - First Person Tutor, you find spelling and grammar errors for money. Good concept, but a few small irksome things in the execution. Worth 1-2 spins.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 2 March 2014 22:51 (twelve years ago)

also on ios

PSY talks The Nut Job (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:21 (twelve years ago)

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:35 (twelve years ago)

reddening, Monday, 3 March 2014 10:40 (twelve years ago)

I can finish it every time, but the last few usually get F+ grades. Just not quite quick enough.

Kill everybody besides dog but remember to light a fire

tsrobodo, Wednesday, 5 March 2014 09:51 (twelve years ago)

if you kill everyone but the dog your dude kills himself!! anyway i don't think that's actually the optimum strategy. unless this is just, like, life advice yr giving me here

♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Wednesday, 5 March 2014 11:03 (twelve years ago)

Didn't realize that was actually playable on the web now, thanks! Been wanting to try it since it was mentioned in the competition hubbub a while back.

Nhex, Wednesday, 5 March 2014 15:56 (twelve years ago)

i'm told this is fun haven't tried yet http://dinopoloclub.com/minimetro/

eric banana (s.clover), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 21:23 (twelve years ago)

also like threes but with 2s instead http://gabrielecirulli.github.io/2048/

eric banana (s.clover), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 23:19 (twelve years ago)

minimetro crashed my browser twice

PSY talks The Nut Job (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 12 March 2014 02:31 (twelve years ago)

I like both of the last two games but am so bad at them, particularly Mini Metro. Are you supposed to fail at five stations every time?

emil.y, Wednesday, 12 March 2014 14:16 (twelve years ago)

first person tutor looks very cool but basically doesn't work on my computer it seems :(

gah, sorry

koogs, Wednesday, 12 March 2014 22:01 (twelve years ago)

2048 is killing me right now. has anyone finished it?

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 18:37 (twelve years ago)

I can't get further than the 500 and something one.

emil.y, Thursday, 13 March 2014 18:38 (twelve years ago)

yeah, 512 is my highest i think

first rule of franco club (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 13 March 2014 18:41 (twelve years ago)

it has a mechanic that kind of encourages you to just click away at it, which doesn't help once things get tight

first rule of franco club (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 13 March 2014 18:42 (twelve years ago)

my high score is 4676 - i think i got half away from 2048, so 1024?

Mordy , Thursday, 13 March 2014 18:45 (twelve years ago)

I've hit the low 6000's in points but don't think I've exceeded the 512 guy

Clay, Thursday, 13 March 2014 19:19 (twelve years ago)

my highest score is 18000, a 1024 and 2 512s and some other stuff

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:17 (twelve years ago)

http://i.minus.com/isqQTprvx9QSZ.png

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:17 (twelve years ago)

ok only one 512

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:18 (twelve years ago)

my trick is to start with and keep the big numbers at the top, and never ever press down unless you have no other move

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:18 (twelve years ago)

i was wondering if the best solution is purely algorithmic, but i guess the random placement of new 2 tiles stops that. i couldn't tell if it was actually random or not, though

♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:25 (twelve years ago)

sometimes the new tile is a 4 and i want to kill myself!

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:27 (twelve years ago)

i've got a slight hunch this might be an elaborate practical joke, because i've been playing in for enough hours straight to feel like it's mathematically impossilbe

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:28 (twelve years ago)

have the biggest number in a corner too btw

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:28 (twelve years ago)

i think?

caek, Thursday, 13 March 2014 20:28 (twelve years ago)

the counter-intuitive up-down-up or left-right-left to get things to align by spawning new tiles is mb key

how many hours straight is enough, caek

♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Thursday, 13 March 2014 21:00 (twelve years ago)

With caek's "never press down" policy I got the 1024, with a score of 12688. Enough for tonight!

emil.y, Thursday, 13 March 2014 21:42 (twelve years ago)

yeah the Caek Method has greatly improved my score, can't recommend it enough

1staethyr, Thursday, 13 March 2014 22:54 (twelve years ago)

got to about 14300 with the caek method. the 'endgame' of this is such a singular experience of being totally in the zone and madly frustrated simultaenously

Clay, Thursday, 13 March 2014 23:50 (twelve years ago)

Ha I went through all this pain a month ago with Threes before eventually concluding there was too much randomness in there for it to be worth persevering.

JimD, Thursday, 13 March 2014 23:51 (twelve years ago)

2048 is really ingenious, definitely have to not let myself play that anymore. The one thing is that the mechanic never quite locks into my brain, so I constantly end up zigging when I mean to zag and going "oh dammit that's not what I meant to do." Kinda needs an 'undo one move' feature but maybe that would ruin the fun?

Got miserably hooked on Super Crate Box last weekend - the instant respawn and fast pace really make "oh ONE more try to hit the number" tempting.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 14 March 2014 16:45 (twelve years ago)

i went back, ugh, hi score 18,960

this could totally be the next tetris

Doctor Casino, Friday, 14 March 2014 18:39 (twelve years ago)

WON thank god

Doctor Casino, Friday, 14 March 2014 18:57 (twelve years ago)

Yesssssssssssssss. You sparked me into giving it another try. And I won, I won. *victory lap*

emil.y, Friday, 14 March 2014 19:32 (twelve years ago)

I'd like to thank this thread, my computer, and especially the caek method.

emil.y, Friday, 14 March 2014 19:32 (twelve years ago)

caek method was KEY, I doubt this is winnable otherwise...too many ways to get a 2 taking up space, crammed hopelessly behind 128s and 512s.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 14 March 2014 19:46 (twelve years ago)

I looked at a clock last night and it was like 12:44 and I mentally slammed the two 4's together to create an 8 and felt pretty bad for awhile

Clay, Friday, 14 March 2014 20:12 (twelve years ago)

Haha, yeah, this has major Tetris afterimage effects, maybe made worse by our constant encounters with numbers. It's like I'm seeing into the Matrix, maaan.
