i have come around to the idea that the right way to play this is to level when the long term bonuses are good. So wolvie is gonna get a major boost in the next week. Here's this week's lineup:

5 open spots, looking forward to an invisible woman and hulk in a week. kinda pissed that i accidentally spent 300 coins on a heroic cover purely on accident.

just maxed out nevada without difficulty. canada is not going to be doable, even with a great team.

not true -- i just did canada and if i can, you can. the only mission that gave me trouble was the snipers one, where i lost one hero per fight. damage boosts helped a bunch there. doing wolvie, cap, spidey

um, if i maxed out nevada and was just at #1, how come i'm now at #5?

and yeah, i just beat all the canada scenes once. i guess it is beatable but it's gonna eat up all my health packs.

plus it looks like there's some arcane system at work to determine where the placement comes when everyone's at #1. I sincerely hope they just give EVERYONE the #1 spot who maxes out the rewards; very lame otherwise.

what tripped you up in Canada? the sniper mission?

points are regenning on missions now, just slowly.

yup, you're right. REALLY slowly - some of the missions I maxed out last night are still coming up empty

recommend using the +20% damage against Canadians

in canada i was mostly scared off by levels but also yes, snipers. it also took until the end of the hulk conflicts for me to realize thor's attacks should be saved for one lengthy megabarrage as hulk has that passive "create three green when hit for 5% of health" bonus.

am now in the 40's on both missions. No regen of any mission points anywhere! Kinda frustrating.

Because the sub events run 24 hours you can do two runs. you should do the first as soon as possible and the second as late as possible to be on the safe side ^^

Since rubberbanding doesn't seem to be occurring in the sub events, it seems like the thing to do is to hold off on the main event missions, but not so much that you miss any sub events. That probably means doing them about 11 hours after they appear and blowing through the sub events immediately to get a refresh on them. Early birds won't get a chance to compete until new main events show up.
In the end, like other rubberbanding events, it'll be part crapshoot, part grinding, and part irritatingly cautious timing that wins the top ranks, not any measure of skill.
But hey, big ISO event rewards are back!

Wondering if my keeping IM35 artificially low (L30) is hampering my ability to adequately get through some of the PvEs. I've got 5K+ ISO that I've been keeping in inventory until I unlock higher-powered covers.

i just cracked 1000 on the "no buff" pvp matches before i ran out of health/first aid. Letting it sit for two or three hours to regen and hopeful i can (maybe?) sprint to 1400 to get those two spideys and invisible woman covers. everyone is focusing on hulk, maybe i won't get ganked for 400 points while i rest as per usual.

lol i just did the same thing! such a grind though, really hard to get any matches that over 15 pts, just slowly crawling up the ladder.

I'm top 10 in the "no holds barred", doing the same as you guys there. can't make much more Hulk progress anyway w/o Punisher dammit

Ughhhh. I was 3rd place around 5pm, got on the subway from work, by the time i got out I was out 100 points and in 12th or so. I played a couple matches, got back into the top 10, but was invited to a birthday party for a close friend. So of course I go to the birthday party, and of course I don't check my phone, but the entire time from 7-9pm I am thinking "I am dropping and dropping." End up checking my phone around 11, and yeah sure enough "you finished top 50." I hate that this distracted me from GOOD TIMES WITH FRIENDS. a little bit of me wanted to show up late to play more puzzle quest.

black widow's stun is pivotal and useful before you can one/two hit kill baddies and moonstone is more meh for me so i recommend the former

I'm going back and grinding some old levels, and now I've pretty much killed/injured my whole lineup. All 22 of them. I always have trouble with the maggiano.

Left this alone (mostly) (heh) yesterday, log back in this morning to see that I'd lost almost 200(?) points in SHIELD, some days I wonder if I'll ever reach the 1000 point plateau.

But on the bright side, I've buffed up my IM35 and got lucky getting another Jug cover so that he's a level 25 now, and with the right boosts, it looks like I can handle the Yelena/Maggia missions without enduring a massacre! Early yet, but I've been able to score 50 HP and a second C Storm cover!

Some regretful leveling up early on. I rely on the top 4 a lot. Trying to move up classic storm.

got a Raggie green cover on a standard draw today! 2-1, level 28 now. got a green Wolvie cover, at 5-4-4 now so maxed, level 61, but feral claws at 3 green is nuts. he does 900+ per feral claws after a few pops. against Hulk it's funny with all that green

is it just me or have the last couple sets of Hulk Missions from this morning and tonight been more brutal than usual - i could barely beat some of them the first time w/all the big boosts (All AP, All dmg, Dark Avengers+), lost many times to the top missions

Someone mentioned on the D3P forums that it might be worth it to hold your Hulk tokens that you get from this until Hulk is unlocked in the greater tourney - that'll probably happen in the next day, given the rate that the meter is progressing. Right now you can't get a Hulk card from those tokens at all, just the other four (Spider-Man, Cap, Wolverine, Punisher).

hm, that's super smart. given i just need two yellow wolvies/punisher/spidey and have just gotten a cap and a green wolvie, i think i'll do that

new scoring system is baffling now; i have a hard time cracking the top 1000 on the first Hulk set, despite playing constantly

Oh god I got into a 1v1 Grey Widow (L15) slapfight in the 3* event, much hilarity ensued, I thought I was styling when I whipped out my pistol shot ability, putting myself in the physical damage lead and then my opponent busted out GW's sniper ability, BOOM, single shot kill.
