I'm starting to get the feeling of why am I playing this, and to what end with this game. Still very addictive though.

I have been steadily accumulating Moonstone cards, have her up to 2-2-4 now. not sure what I think of her yet though? her countdown steal seems useful but it's at 17 black. her red blast is getting useful. kinda thinking she's like a captain america, kinda general purpose. curious though.

Moonstone might be useful? Great, that's another roster spot I'll have to create.

somehow got her at 5/5/3, maybe wish i specced for more black but... eh, she has a decent red blast, that benefits from hoarding reds on the screen, and... not... much... else. decent hp, decent damage, nothing to write home about.

she's about 10-20 levels behind my lead 4 guys (wolv, daken, thor, IM40) so I use her when I'm out of health packs and need another person.

More useful against PVE and countdown guys due to the black ability, but, the 17 cost makes it kinda out of reach (and you can probably do much better with so many other characters with 17 of any color gem)

the purple switch ability could be useful to fuck with enemy specials? haven't used her yet except to tank but as I steadily accumulate cards, I'm keeping an open mind

I have three venom covers in my cache, is it worth working him up? I've sold a zillion covers but I'm having second thoughts (but blah @ 1 star heroes since they get so hard to level)

strong venom can be a total pain to play against, but i'm not sure how good he is on offense.

i was getting really tough opponents on "no holds" (all maxed thors + typically a maxed I40 or cstorm at least) then the lightning rounds came around again. so i did the usual -- win one fight, then play the next with the weakest team i can muster, resign, and yield, then wait to be taken down a few more notches.

two rounds of this, and now i'm getting matched up with teams in "no holds" where the avg level is 33.

feel sorta terrible about how effective it is

moonstones purple is totally useless

venom on offense is pretty wack, good pairing with a well leveled spiderman tho

i was using moonstone for a bit with bullseye and daken in the dark avengers tourney to good effect. against a daken or a bullseye i could typically use purple to take out an enemy tile and also do some damage. rarely got to use the red on the other hand.

Moonstone's purple is good against attack tile characters like Doom or Daken, since you know what color it's gonna be (unlikely say, Iron Man 35's defense tiles or Captain America's various abilitises). I have her maxed out but I'm not sure I'll get around to her for a while, still working on cap after hitting my current max on Iron Man 40 (right now L79). Might switch over to Daken or Wolvie, they seem more usable in the short term.

my wolvie (astonishing) has 5 green cards, so feral claws costs 4; he is a savage beast now. wish I had a daken to team him with; well, I have one but he's only level 8 (after I sold a bunch of covers).

I'd spend real money for a permanent heal speed upgrade; when I hit it with my top team and then get bashed, either I run health packs or I wait, and the latter means I put it down for a few hours. so I can see paying e.g. $5 to speed that up...as long as it's not just to get a finite number of health packs

like I'd like to support the developers by giving them real money for the game but I don't want to buy scratch off lottery cards and get a bunch of black widow moderns for my moolah

Kind of regretting my decision to sell off all my Classic Hawkeye covers, now that I'm stuck on some Maggia missions.

Was #2 in the No Holds Barred tourney this morning - wanted that spot, since I'd rather 3 Grey Widow cards rather than one Invisible Woman - but of course, by luck or by tanking, I shot up to #1 lol

I didn't realize it was ending so early, finished in the top 50... got a black widow classic blue (cool), and a black widow MODERN purple? wtf? i feel bamboozled

so to make sure i'm clear on the clover strategy, i don't throw any matches in the no holds tourney, but throw all sorts of matches in the lightning rds?

Man, this game is invading my dreams! I dreamed that I made two consecutive 5-matches, I was so happy.

will m -- you win one match in the lightning just to get in the game. then you play a second match with a very bad team, and yield.

this means that your very bad team will be the one others will go up against, and they will pick away even more of your points.

and this in turn will give you way easier matches in the main tourney.

i think it works. but I don't throw matches deliberately, I just fight using as underpowered teams as possible. even if you win, you'll still get matched up with lower levels. it's not a bad system actually - gets people to use more of their weak characters, gives more chances to noobs to fight

i've never forfeited, though in some cases I lost the first chance and won the second, still ended up getting easier fights in the main tourney. Downside: less points, as you'll get players lower down the ladder.

have been leveling mine up too, based on this thread

though my wolvie is also tearing it up, rarely comes out of a battle with any hp gone, have gotten my way into the top 3 in the no holds barred tourney without going nuts on health packs or boosts, just pumping away with wolvie + either thor or model 40 + classic storm. a couple of feral claws (each wolvie strike tile now boosts damage by like 53 or so) & even dumb pink tiles are doing 200+

I find that combining IM40 with my wolvie 5/5/3 is a nice new development, because I can collect yellow for recharges and get those red attacks off without too much disruption of all of my red attack tiles. Occasionally break red tiles when they're Daken attack tiles (mine usually) and replace them with newer, better wolvie ones when possible. Have been consistently getting 600+ match 3s near the end of long matches.

yes, and the model 40 rechange also pumps blue which helps classic storm with those nasty wind storms. or iron man's blue attack (which I got another cover for last night!)

I literally did not know it pumped blue until you said that. Haha. Is that a later skill thing? My IM40 is still 4/0/1.

oh man at recharge 3 you also restore 2 green; will be even more tops with wolvie

yup, that Recharge ability is incredibly nice

At first I assumed I just didn't notice the blue recharge because I never had guys with blue powers out, but needing to level up makes more sense.

Can't wait to get some more Magnow bits, he's only like 1/1/0 (or 1/1, is he 2 power? I assume not) and he seems interesting. Even brought him at level 8 to some tough fights for that awesome blue power.

Also saw "Kingfish3of3" one rank above me last night in no hold barred, good to know that A) other ILXors representing (i assume) and B) someone is apparently THREE TIMES MORE addicted than I am

wow, my A team just got flambéed by a modern storm / black widow combo (plus a model 35 but he didn't do much)

i have magnow at level 40 5/4/2; he's fun to play with. Purple attack hits for 400 or so and sets up and instant blue attack.

i am finding classic storms at level 70 or so to be monsters with that blue attack... one hit that takes 1500 on every team member? sheeeeesh.

yeah my classic storm is at l49 and does 813 on all 3 PLUS a three turn stun.

<3 that ability so much, the only thing really that made her worth maxing out
