which city for GTA 5?

in gta3, vice city and san andreas i would put in the 100% health cheat over and over again because so many of the missions were shitty and i hate being frustrated and just wanted to see what else would happen. true gamer confessions.

the tennnis mini-game in this is great, but real easy once you suss it out. will be great playing that online with a mate

been playing for ages and still no sign of trevor. initially thought i'd got some weird broken copy but turns out trevor only turns up after 4 hours of mission gameplay or something. kindof excited as all the reviews rave about playing as his character

hope i can ditch all the shooting range, dog training crap without it affecting my stats so much. one minor gripe is that there's a *lot* to keep tabs on, almost gets confusing with the multiple characters rpg stats stuff

is there any sign of having to "maintain relationships" like in gta4? hated that so much, that and all the driving to get to missions. I love the mechanic in jc2 of being able to parachute to locations you've already visited

oof, just remembered another IV annoyance: taking cabs everywhere after a while b/c it was quicker than driving

i think there's a bit of that relationships stuff yeah, ive had texts from people saying lets hang out, etc. just ignoring that crap. rockstar lot really need an editor with some of this stuff - going sitting in a restaurant with someone IN A GAME is really not much fun at all. been on the fairground rides, pretty zzz and im expecting the same from the movie theatre stuff (though i'll be surprised if they top the sheer awfulness of the gta4 comedy club bits). i'm just highlighting the bad shit here btw, there's so much AWESOME don't let it put you off

Been reading about all the wildlife in this. People are getting eaten by mountain lions! Has anyone scuba dived yet? Are there sharks/rays/tropical fish?

I just have a PC so my enjoyment of this game will be vicarious for a while...

eh, it's only a couple days. and i want whatever pre-order content i'm getting now.

the missions are exhilarating - same standard 'go here, shoot these guys, escape' type thing but honed so it's pure fun. the cover system is great and the movement of your character isn't as lumpen and sluggish as in gta4. lot of cutscenes and exposition though which i never like, though again it's better (more believable, better-written, not as miserable/pompous) than gta4. in actual 'game' terms it's nowhere near as good and gripping as splinter cell blacklist for me, but as a phenomenon/cultural artefact etc it's pretty great.

yeah, i properly loved it. took all the best bits from conviction (and ditched the worst) and from the older games and made the most gripping game ive ever played. without sounding wank, a game for people who appreciate games, whereas gta5 is this sprawling multi-media epic for the everyman with a little bit of game sprinkled on top

feels a lot like GTAIV but w/much more likeable lead in the form of franklin

shooting & driving just feels like GTAIV to me. driving is noticeably twitchier tho, & not for the better

movement & shooting still feels like GTAIV. did they gimp the shooting from the car? feel like that was better in GTAIV but may be misremembering

yeah the shooting from car thing has changed for the worse, weirdly. might improve - ie. lock-on quicker - once shooting stats are up. i really liked the tennis game, mega simple, almost pong-like but weirdly playable until it got super easy once you suss out the winning moves

My initial impressions are that it's insanely pretty and the early missions are much more enjoyable than in GTA IV. I've barely scratched the surface though.

This is great. I killed a mountain lion! Red Dead Redemption is just about my favourite game, but this might topple it - especially if there's mountain lions to be killed. And the sounds you hear being out in the countryside at night - superbly atmospheric. I haven't done many missions yet because eh. I like all the "boring" stuff that people with no patience hate: exploring the world; driving, riding around and stuff.

I would like driving in these games more if you could turn traffic off (could do that in Saints Row 2 I think? it ruled)

I may just have to buy this tonight. Was hoping to hold off until the weekend, but I'm weak.

Very much like IV but a lot nicer looking so far, and the characters all seem wicked cool this time out. Only been playing for about 2 and a half / 3 hours so I really haven't even started to get to grips with it. But holy shit is this map huge. Had one huge car chase along a freeway that went on for about 10 minutes, checked it on the map and it turned out I hadn't even changed direction at any point, just a straight line run

Also the ability to take selfies is such a fucking great idea

Swimming in the ocean looks *amazing*, the water and waves are incredibly real

And omg @ being able to go and ride the fucking rollercoaster and ferris wheel on the shore.

The atmospheric sound in this game is amazing!

The driving is the same for the most part but the HUD is much better.

My housemate busjacked a bus, drove it up a very very steep hill, then steered it off a cliff and bailed at the last moment. The sight of this bus careening endlessly down ravines, a la the Lisa Log from the Simpsons, had me in tears of laughter.
