Z S, Sunday, 1 September 2013 16:49 (twelve years ago)

Z S, Sunday, 1 September 2013 16:49 (twelve years ago)

42.8, arrrrrgh

Also, I gave Clockwork Cat a go - that is SUPER CUTE. Shame it's so short, but eh, Ludum Dare, what you gonna do...

emil.y, Sunday, 1 September 2013 20:26 (twelve years ago)

Love TD, and the Cursed Treasure 2 game is hella fun. Especially like that one of the towers looks like a TARDIS.

Shannon Leeedles (Leee), Sunday, 1 September 2013 22:54 (twelve years ago)

after a certain point it all depends on the golden cookies

wombspace (abanana), Monday, 2 September 2013 15:18 (twelve years ago)

yeah, simple math suggests that 400 million per second is pretty much the cap

YOU FOOLS PAY OVER $2.50 for a comic book (forksclovetofu), Monday, 2 September 2013 18:15 (twelve years ago)

is there an end game here or is it just GET ALL TEH STUFF

YOU FOOLS PAY OVER $2.50 for a comic book (forksclovetofu), Monday, 2 September 2013 18:15 (twelve years ago)

There is no endgame as far as I can tell. I assume you've gotten to the "matriachs" by now? They're interesting, but they don't lead anywhere.

wombspace (abanana), Monday, 2 September 2013 18:23 (twelve years ago)

Also, it's still being updated frequently, so open it in a new window occasionally and check the version.

wombspace (abanana), Monday, 2 September 2013 18:30 (twelve years ago)

yeah, grandmapocalypse is anticlimax

YOU FOOLS PAY OVER $2.50 for a comic book (forksclovetofu), Monday, 2 September 2013 18:40 (twelve years ago)

A cursor is now 50 billion to purchase

I think "playing" this kind of game long enough to get this to this point says something about me, something that might not be so good

Euler, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:19 (twelve years ago)

tell me about it

imagine Brigadoons (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:20 (twelve years ago)

as i try to make a billion cookies by clicking

imagine Brigadoons (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:21 (twelve years ago)

sorry was going to finish that post but I got a golden cookie

Euler, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:21 (twelve years ago)

these things come into my life, carry too much weight and disappear in the course of a week but while they're there it's like a tick. And a tic.

One burly voice screamed and that was one of many. (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:24 (twelve years ago)

^^^ baically my relationship with scads of games from this thread, whether of the abstracted cookie-box variety or things that at a glance look more like 'games.'

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:34 (twelve years ago)

like I was gonna say something about ~what is a game~ in light of the skeletal nature of this one, but I'm not sure what to say. like forks said: what's the end game? & I can't really consider that when I'm like "uh need the 100 portal achievement", like, what is an end game? certainly it isn't plot that I'm looking for here. click click click

Euler, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:48 (twelve years ago)

i'm telling myself it ends when i get all the achievements

imagine Brigadoons (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:49 (twelve years ago)

i think the endgame for me is when i dunk the cookie

One burly voice screamed and that was one of many. (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:51 (twelve years ago)

i can't say i dislike it because i've sunk an embarrassing amount of time into it already, but i don't think Cookie Clicker compares very favorably to Candy Box. Candy Box eventually evolves into a passable rpg, with exploration, looting, and a tangible end game. the constant underlying multiplying accumulation engine is given meaning because you're actually saving up to buy real items that you need for the adventure component of the game. Cookie Clicker doesn't have any similar meaning. saving up for the big upgrade only results in a split second bit of jogged curiosity when you see how much your multiplier increased. it feels much more like checking boxes.

Z S, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 17:00 (twelve years ago)

i quit cookie clicker earlier today. final score: 537 million cookies per second

wombspace (abanana), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 17:23 (twelve years ago)

agree with all that

back in the day I had an office job without internet access and the corporation even deleted minesweeper and solitaire from its win boxes so the opportunities to goof off at my desk were minimal. so I wrote a spreadsheet that played the card game War against itself, and I watched it for hours, and this game feels like that except with better graphics, so thanks Internet, I'm right where I was in 1995 click click click

Look up "Sushi". Where you stab these little pieces of sushi on an Asian restaurant table. The most deliciously stupid and simple game, but two weeks after downloading it from iTunes, I keep playing it. I think it has some aesthetic reward that keeps pulling me back. That and it goes with my current love for hibachi buffet.

Marian, you're too stupid to be a Republican (I M Losted), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 01:01 (twelve years ago)

I was feeling pretty smug about the fact I resisted the temptation to click those cookies like the rest of you, then I remembered I've been putting about an hour a day into Animal Crossing for the last 3 months.

eh it would be easy to mess with the save file to fuck with your CPS but that's taking the pointlessness of this to yet another level

Euler, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 15:23 (twelve years ago)

153 mil per sec for me BY LEGIT MEANS as of now

actually I don't mind this running in a browser window while I do real work, I can periodically check on it & after half an hour buy a cursor or something, then get back to work

Euler, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 15:24 (twelve years ago)

the finishing post seems to keep getting further away is the worst thing

iMacaroon dragoons (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 15:27 (twelve years ago)

pretty tempted just to buy the upgrade it warns me against now and see what happens

iMacaroon dragoons (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 15:32 (twelve years ago)

not much, but go for it

One burly voice screamed and that was one of many. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 15:42 (twelve years ago)

"Cookie Dunker" achievement made me laugh. (It got updated and I had to come back.)

wombspace (abanana), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 16:08 (twelve years ago)

okay, i figured out how to dunk and it was not that exciting and i closed the window and i'm done now.

One burly voice screamed and that was one of many. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 16:34 (twelve years ago)

One burly voice screamed and that was one of many. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 17:59 (twelve years ago)

Aha, that works. Didn't realise it was an audio game so I'll try later. I will almost certainly be bad at it.

emil.y, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 18:11 (twelve years ago)

My best is a paltry 600 points.
