My runner of choice lately has been Ronin. Its a jump and slash thing with a nice, brushstroke looking sense of style. When I first got it, it was way too hard and there wasn't a good sense of progress. But the updates have given it a really nice control scheme, a mission system, all the usual goodies. Its precise, challenging, and way more measured than something like punch quest.

Finally lost a game of Letterpress today, first since the first week I downloaded it. Led the whole way and controlled 2 corners at 13-8 with KKH unplayed (there was no I so KHAKI was unavailable). Lost 13-12 after my opponent played KOHEKOHE, which turns out to be a medium sized tree in New Zealand. Until that point all of his/her words were alterations of mine (FLAVORED after FAVORED, OVERBROAD after OVERBOARD), nothing that would predict an ultra esoteric haymaker. I wish there was a chat feature so I could rmde at that.

They are no number of bits at all, yet when you look at Ridiculous Fishing, you know for certain that it is a videogame. You can say the same thing about its music: like the game itself, and its graphics, the music is simultaneously bizarre and catchy, and ties the package up into a holistic design masterpiece. All of these elements combine naturally to create a game that is more than “just a game”; like the original Super Mario Bros., it is a piece of pop-art in itself. Ridiculous Fishing is both the new Angry Birds — and something else entirely. Time will tell what that entire something else may be.

nimble quest bored me pretty fast but i try it every now and again

still playin' it. really want to unlock all the chars, but god knows how long that'll take to buff up everyone enough to get that far. i'm stuck at 9

Injustice iOS app is pretty solid. Basically like the Batman Arkham City one, but it's a got a card-collecting King of Fighters vibe with 3v3 teams and it's better because it's free. Worse because it has some time-consumable crap to limit playtime and encourage IAP, but they give you enough to get like 15-20 minutes of game time per day, and you get more time the more characters you unlock. Good corporate synergy with giving unlocks to the console version (the NBA2K MyLife iOS and Facebook apps did this too).

Very bored with Nimble Bit. Occasionally judders at the wrong moment which is very frustrating. I like the concept though. Also loads quickly so good for quick games.

i've got like seven characters on nimble quest. maybe three are leveled up. the frustrating bit is that there's lots of slow, dreary play where you still have to pay attention or you'll die, and then a little bit of tricky play and then i always die.

I got slash tonight on nimble quest. Will be interesting to see if I can improve on that while sober

I find the real trick of NQ is when you have five or so heroes, and forget how vulnerable the leader is biz of all the damage your wake is able to do. I'm trying to develop a method- so far, caring less about gems seems perversely helpful.

man Injustice is SUCH a grind but i keep sinking time into it, damn card collecting and a bajillion upgradable stats

still like NQ but i think i've hit a wall in not being able to get to hero #10. i might just have to grind it out on this game too, to level up all my guys to 2 stars

Dungeon Plunder update this week made levels 7+ a little less hard & I'm digging it even more

did it add a fucking high scores list? it's unbelievable that it tells you your score when you die, and doesn't track it anywhere. that's like half the fun with a roguelike, to try to beat your own high score!

what's fun is to try to make it another level further so that you get to start at a higher level the next time you die, un rogue like there but I like it

fairway solitaire has an obnoxious "buy our other games" splash screen even after you've paid for it, it's still iphone 4-sized, it is WAY too big for a card game, it's super slow and annoying and yet, fuck, i cant stop playing the stupid thing

I only play it on the iPad.
