^ give him $10k and he'll let you in here

Guy is a multi-millionaire who went into space but I might've punted him ten bucks for a kickstarted game, except the game tier is $40. Thousands of dollars for some entirely imaginary (un)real estate in a game which doesn't exist yet, if ever? I'll pass, thanks.

susuwatari teenage riot (a passing spacecadet), Saturday, 9 March 2013 16:11 (thirteen years ago)

$10 + $30 tiers still open (and the $30 tier comes w/ digital copy of the game i think?)

Mordy, Saturday, 9 March 2013 16:20 (thirteen years ago)

i'm glad that golem game looks nowhere near meeting their goal

Mordy, Saturday, 9 March 2013 16:22 (thirteen years ago)

Lord British clearly doesn't need Kickstarter. $1MM is not close to enough to make that game. He's probably just on the bandwagon for marketing reasons, and because nobody objects to a million dollar loan at 0% interest.

my god i only have 2 useless beyblade (silby), Saturday, 9 March 2013 17:47 (thirteen years ago)

Dude deserves it.

The more the happens the more it feels like, Pitchfork getting Pavement to play the full album of "Slanted and Enchanted" or something. Kickstarter is to videogame idols what the classic album concert is to indie rock band.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 9 March 2013 18:30 (thirteen years ago)

that video is hella creepy

the 'dirty sprite' is implied (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 9 March 2013 19:51 (thirteen years ago)

Also why does he never seem to get called out on the FUCKING AWFULNESS of referring to himself as Lord British? If I decided to start calling myself Sherriff Clint American Jr I'd expect to be laughed off the Internet but nobody ever seems to have a problem with his whole embarrassing schtick.

JimD, Sunday, 10 March 2013 00:38 (thirteen years ago)

that actually is kinda Suda 51's gimmick

Nhex, Sunday, 10 March 2013 07:40 (thirteen years ago)

Iolo & Lord British just shootin' the shit. Iolo actually makes crossbows, and he plays "Stones" on a real lute at around 17:00 in! Squee!

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 17:10 (thirteen years ago)

Skullgirls DLC got $400K funded and there's still 11 days to go.

abanana, Sunday, 17 March 2013 13:18 (thirteen years ago)

Damn, videogamers have lots of disposable income.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 17 March 2013 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

this shit kinda has to stop at some point doesn't it?

the craziest half-court shots and wildest WAGs (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 17 March 2013 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

is it too late to declare a vintage-game-revival-kickstarter bubble
― A Little Princess btw (s1ocki), Tuesday, May 15, 2012

^too early apparently

Why doesn't Ron Gilbert just figure out how much it would cost to do his version of Monkey Island 3 and do a kickstarter for that? It would be successful beyond belief.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 17 March 2013 16:17 (thirteen years ago)

Really that's the only thing i would have an immediate interest in funding.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 17 March 2013 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

i would shamefully contribute yes

If Boehner's boner ever had a boner for another boner (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 17 March 2013 16:19 (thirteen years ago)

doesn't telltale have the rights to that or something?

Mordy, Sunday, 17 March 2013 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

Disney currently own MI rights after buying LucasArts last year, so that is probably the end of that

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Sunday, 17 March 2013 17:52 (thirteen years ago)

Simian Archipelago IV: LeChook's Vengeance
^problem solved

If Boehner's boner ever had a boner for another boner (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 17 March 2013 18:01 (thirteen years ago)

of course on the plus side that means there's a possibility of disney world recreating the le chuck ride from m2 in fantasyland

Mordy, Sunday, 17 March 2013 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

as much as i love Monkey Island, i would much rather see new IP and characters these days

Nhex, Monday, 18 March 2013 05:39 (thirteen years ago)

Skullgirls DLC funding ended with $829K

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 28 March 2013 11:18 (thirteen years ago)

Whoa, I'd kick money to that if Parish is on all the time

The New Jack Mormons! (kingfish), Thursday, 28 March 2013 12:23 (thirteen years ago)

I (greatly) prefer Parish in text form only. But, I kind of want to support Ray Barnholt who had that great 1up soundtrack podcast.

Nhex, Friday, 29 March 2013 03:38 (thirteen years ago)

early trailer for a game currently being developed by one man, Lionel Gallat, who worked in film for 15 years animating the likes of "Shark Tale", "Despicable Me" etc. like a Disney Demons Souls!

he was doing that like three years ago!

it's a quote from the first post in this thread

the bitcoin comic (thomp), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 00:11 (thirteen years ago)

xps lol @ scott kurtz being involved

then again i guess it makes sense as TenNapel outed himself as a conservative crank iirc

Nhex, Wednesday, 29 May 2013 00:27 (thirteen years ago)

ah, well yes.

i didn't even give much of a fuck that you were mod (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 01:00 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, TenNapel is one of those guys whose personal opinions are absolutely something you never ever want to get near. Games are great, but everything else.....bleah.

Hockey Drunk (kingfish), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 03:17 (thirteen years ago)

i had to share my pain; once you see that stuff you can't unsee it

Double Fine going back to the well (for an entirely different project)

0808ɹƃ (silby), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:54 (thirteen years ago)

tbh I totally want the game that I imagine it will be, but considering the ship date is a year and a half from now and it'll reach its goal through the efforts of Other People I don't know that it's worth backing…especially since I've not been digging into the backer-exclusive Double Fine Adventure updates at all.

0808ɹƃ (silby), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

man, this looks like the sort of thing i would drop three bills on and then have a hard time figuring out where to put after the first month.

the Kickstarted Shadowrun Returns is out on Steam.

And here's what happened when a dude canceled his project that was fully funded:

my first reaction was "man, so shameless" but after watching the video and reading the page it's well done... may back this one. no doubt it will be huge by the time it's all said and done (2 days and it's already 55% of the $900k)

Nhex, Sunday, 1 September 2013 17:25 (twelve years ago)

One of the most well-done kickstarter proposals i've seen.
