I suck at extending time with blue. It never seems to amount to anything.

Jeff, Friday, 1 March 2013 04:42 (thirteen years ago)

The thing that seems to do nothing for me is the match time extension boost, but iirc it is a key aspect of djp strategy and he has like 1000 billion more points than me so I am obv doing it wrong.

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Friday, 1 March 2013 05:08 (thirteen years ago)

I'm worried I'm burning out on this game, because up until now my scores have been improving as my understanding improves, and that's fun and interesting. But now I feel like my understanding is maxed out and it's just my clumsy fat fucking fingers that are limiting my scoring.

JimD, Friday, 1 March 2013 12:10 (thirteen years ago)

(although I'm still not entirely clear on how I activate a power for megazone, whenever I get in there it seems like everything pauses for a second or two, during which I can't feed anything to anyone, and by the time that's passed the monsters have vanished).

JimD, Friday, 1 March 2013 12:27 (thirteen years ago)

Right, having the yellow bro out there and the timing of feeding him a condo before mega is tricky.

Jeff, Friday, 1 March 2013 12:34 (thirteen years ago)

Do other powers work during megazone though, or just yellow? Because I'm SURE I've gone in with green active without it having any effect...

JimD, Friday, 1 March 2013 12:38 (thirteen years ago)

just yellow AFAICT, although you might be able to have your first match with blue count as well (but it wouldn't matter unless you have clocks/pigs/multipliers in your match)

btw my go-to boosts are peace, slow chain and double pink; I only used match extension early on

the easy grindy way to stockpile money is to just play a bunch of games using peace only

my super interesting Kant story (DJP), Friday, 1 March 2013 14:46 (thirteen years ago)

polymer is free right now. i've been meaning to get it. only a few games in its nice feeling how i was totally helpless the first few and am gradually developing the ability to actually plan ahead and execute strategies, etc.

s.clover, Saturday, 2 March 2013 00:22 (thirteen years ago)

want to stress again how much fun i'm having with sword and poker. It's a match 3 game with a twist: instead of jewels it's cards and you're matching for pairs, three of a kind, flush, straights, full house, etc. add a persistent RPG dungeoncrawl shell with level up weapon, health, shield and magic and this shit is golden. highly recommended; I need to get the sequel.

Also just picked up "heavy mach: defense" which looks interesting

Year walk is frustrating. Memorising sequences and revisiting old areas of the map to see if anything's changed are the dudliest of dud game mechanics.

ledge, Sunday, 3 March 2013 09:35 (thirteen years ago)

Candy Crush all day (until I run out of lives, anyway)

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Sunday, 3 March 2013 21:59 (thirteen years ago)

IB is totally a grind, but it's a fun grind with a good narrative gimmick. IB 2 is even better

IB is so boring and yet I find myself playing it when I have two or three minutes. That's why Polymer is so great, quick load and makes me think of Katamari.

hyggeligt, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 23:52 (thirteen years ago)

I up to 3.1 b I believe. Feel lke it's just a matter of time before I luck in to a huge score.

Jeff, Tuesday, 12 March 2013 03:22 (thirteen years ago)

11.88bn and yeah, it felt like pure luck really, not even sure how it happened.

JimD, Tuesday, 12 March 2013 07:11 (thirteen years ago)

grabbed knights of pen and paper while it was free. its a nice throwback rpg.

s.clover, Tuesday, 12 March 2013 15:57 (thirteen years ago)

There is no life, only Candy Crush Saga.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

that game is such bullshit man

Euler, Tuesday, 12 March 2013 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

^this
pen and paper is worth your time until it becomes a horrible grind. you should be able to get at least two or three hours of fun from it. Maybe more. Worth two bucks easy.

the 'dirty sprite' is implied (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 18:37 (thirteen years ago)

What's bullshit about it? It's fun.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 18:53 (thirteen years ago)

It's basically just Bejeweled but I like the mechanics of dealing with pieces that have goo on them or are roped up. I like how the special pieces affect the game board.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

I dunno 225 tries on level 33 took the wind out of my sails

then my wife beat the level! & the game wanted 99 cents to keep playing! was like, why should I pay you to keep hitting myself over the head?

Euler, Tuesday, 12 March 2013 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

I beat the first 50 levels and am working on three starring all of them

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

what bullshit about it is that it's basic game mechanics that can only be played proper past a certain point by paying for the answer

the 'dirty sprite' is implied (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 19:20 (thirteen years ago)

I don't pay for anything except more levels.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 12 March 2013 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

The 5 lives per 2h30 has been helpful in curbing obsessive tendencies because extortionate or not, the game owns your soul.

Three starred up to level 80 besides 77 which is really testing my patience. Still not comfortable with the idea of buying consumable extras on such games.
