FTL is pretty awesome. I've been playing all week.

xp it's cool that millions will go charity through Humble, but i'm not sure that amount will even make a dent in THQ's debt

Nhex, Thursday, 6 December 2012 21:29 (thirteen years ago)

I got Hotline Miami for $5 during the last steam sale. I haven't played it much (maybe 20-30 minutes), but what I played didn't really impress me. People seem to love it, but for me it seemed too basic / too violent to capture my interest. From what I could see, all you do is walk into a room, figure out quickly how to kill everyone and move on to the next room, sort of trial by error gameplay (it's exactly the same every time you go in a room). It does have an interesting visual style and music, but overall it felt kind of garbage to me. I'm still planning to go back and play it more.

FTL looks like it has a lot more depth. I'm definitely planning on picking it up at some point (probably during a holiday sale). I'm in a rouge-like mood though, so your mileage may vary.

JCL, Thursday, 6 December 2012 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

I think the reason I haven't bothered to pick up FTL yet is mainly that the art style looks really bland & boring?

JCL, Thursday, 6 December 2012 21:54 (thirteen years ago)

the gameplay is fab

Mordy, Thursday, 6 December 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

MOO1/2 on gog for Mac now, might bite

Euler, Thursday, 6 December 2012 21:59 (thirteen years ago)

FTL and hotline miami are both totally worth the price. FTL is probably more fun but hm is ~~art~~ or whatever

adam, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

FTL worth it. Hotline keeps killing me, not sure if its worth it.

Also, Dishonored for PC is cheap on Amazon now again, but its a physical copy.

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Drunk!" (kingfish), Friday, 7 December 2012 05:37 (thirteen years ago)

I think Dishonored is Steamworks anyway

Nhex, Friday, 7 December 2012 05:46 (thirteen years ago)

Right. I've discovered that I can change my hotel/car rental credits into amazon gift cards, so now I finally have a way to convert all the bidness travel I do into actual vidja games

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Drunk!" (kingfish), Friday, 7 December 2012 06:24 (thirteen years ago)

Hotline is half off today

I can't stop listening to the Hotline Miami soundtrack:

Especially the Sun Araw tracks and Jasper Byrne's "Miami," the song from the live-action trailer.

H:M is effing brutal, both in content and how I keep friggin' dying, especially after drinking.

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Drunk!" (kingfish), Sunday, 9 December 2012 22:03 (thirteen years ago)

Hotline reminds me of Spelunky, but less cruel. Still cruel, though.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Sunday, 9 December 2012 22:06 (thirteen years ago)

okay so now they added warhammer 40k dawn of war to that thq pack.
if you haven't blown a few bucks on this yet, you really should.

THE NATIONS YOUTH DANCED TO THE MACARANA (innocent) (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 06:35 (thirteen years ago)

it begins

abanana, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 21:06 (thirteen years ago)

i should throw 'em some bucks for the effort they've put into the Mac ports, but will I ever really play Theme Hospital again?

Nhex, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 21:31 (thirteen years ago)

I downloaded the free Duke Nukem 3D - never played it before!

I'm definitely planning on picking up La Mulana finally - 50% off. Was hoping it would come to steam, but it seems stuck in greenlight limbo...

JCL, Thursday, 13 December 2012 01:50 (thirteen years ago)

Grimrock $3.74, some others at the same price. Has anyone tried The Real Texas? Looks interesting.

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 December 2012 19:37 (thirteen years ago)

thank you Humble Bundle for putting the 2 games I already own but haven't played in the "pay above the average" section this time

a panda, Malmö (a passing spacecadet), Wednesday, 19 December 2012 20:49 (thirteen years ago)

i might get it anyway, since you're getting a crap-ton of Dungeon Defenders DLC. not that i've played that game for more than a minute. but Grimrock + mac ports (as well as Shank 2), nice

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 December 2012 21:46 (thirteen years ago)

ugh, i already have more games than i have time to play and now like everything on gog is on sale???

Mordy, Wednesday, 19 December 2012 22:57 (thirteen years ago)

Steam sale should be starting tomorrow - feeling distinctly unhyped tho :/

ばか ざっぴ (zappi), Thursday, 20 December 2012 00:32 (thirteen years ago)

keep telling myself i don't need all the Ultimas

Captain Humberbantz (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 20 December 2012 00:38 (thirteen years ago)

u really just need VII imo

Mordy, Thursday, 20 December 2012 00:40 (thirteen years ago)

i really need them all it's the sad-case completist in me, luckily i can't be bothered to make a GOG account tonite

Captain Humberbantz (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 20 December 2012 00:44 (thirteen years ago)

Amazon doing digital stuff every week for the next few

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Drunk!" (kingfish), Thursday, 20 December 2012 02:41 (thirteen years ago)

both they and GOG seriously stepped up this year to fight Steam, I love it

Nhex, Thursday, 20 December 2012 03:04 (thirteen years ago)

Steam sale went live half an hour ago. Arkham City for £4.99 isn't bad.

Go Narine, Go! (ShariVari), Thursday, 20 December 2012 18:34 (thirteen years ago)

Oh shit

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Drunk!" (kingfish), Thursday, 20 December 2012 18:39 (thirteen years ago)

if anybody gets the super indie pack and has some doubles, i would be much obliged?

THE NATIONS YOUTH DANCED TO THE MACARANA (innocent) (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 20 December 2012 18:53 (thirteen years ago)

Unfortunately, I don't think it's the kind of pack where you get gift doubles... which is a good reason to buy everything on Steam as a gift to your inventory, in the case a cheap bundle comes out before you can play a game. But that is REALLY tedious.

Nhex, Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:43 (thirteen years ago)

bought I Am Alive for like $5 on a flash sale and that was overpriced. controls are so slow and dumb that you just die every few minutes.

bnw, Saturday, 22 December 2012 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

shoot. i was thinking about getting that on PSN, will avoid

Nhex, Saturday, 22 December 2012 17:36 (thirteen years ago)

cool concept. terrible execution. its a lot like Alan Wake.

bnw, Saturday, 22 December 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

greenmangaming.com has sleeping dogs for $12 (with the code on their main page) and you get a $6 credit for future purchases.

abanana, Saturday, 22 December 2012 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, y'all should get that

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Drunk!" (kingfish), Saturday, 22 December 2012 19:54 (thirteen years ago)

Amazon has had some decent bundles lately, like the complete Darksiders 2/all DLC for $13 (that Steam immediately matched). There's a bonus to buying bundled Steamworks stuff from Amazon, though- by default you get individual codes for every game and piece of content.

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Sunday, 23 December 2012 00:38 (thirteen years ago)

So who wants a free copy of Sega Bass Fishing for Steam? Come on, people, get it while it's hot fifteen years old!

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

On the offchance anyone actually does want it, just email me and I'll reply with the activation code.

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

Likewise, any takers for Bioshock 2?

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

OK, Bioshock 2 has found a home. I'm out of codes, but people may want to take a look at the "Desert to Sea bundle" on Amazon- $10 for Spec Ops: The Line (which is $15 on its own on Steam during the holiday sale) with both Bioshocks.

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 18:35 (thirteen years ago)

And as with the other Amazon bundles, they're all separate codes, so you can break them apart and give away duplicates or games you're not interested in.

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 18:35 (thirteen years ago)

That sounds like an awesome deal, though I already own Bioshock 1 + 2, so I'll pass and probably wait for Spec Ops to drop to $5. Being able to give away the keys is definitely a positive in buying from Amazonm though.

Nhex, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 19:03 (thirteen years ago)

i would love to partake in steam sales if i was confident my dumb laptop could play any game worth paying money for. if it could play the demo for portal 1 pretty decently is there a chance it could run bioshock? (i was surprised abt portal)
