no wifi just 3G so I can't post pix but during sandy I crashed the top 25 :)
― Mordy, Tuesday, 30 October 2012 21:26 (thirteen years ago)
Respect to Jim for reclaiming the top spot. Disrespect for keeping me off it.
― itt: 'splaining men (ledge), Tuesday, 30 October 2012 22:21 (thirteen years ago)
Something's well squiffy with these leaderboards though, every time I restart the game it seems to remove me altogether.
― JimD, Tuesday, 30 October 2012 22:37 (thirteen years ago)
i'm late on this game but i got hexagon just before a plane ride and oh god do i suck, i'm like at 25s on the easiest mode :( also the line mode that comes in after 10s kills me most of the time, for some reason, it fucks up my brain and i can't really see which are the hexagon sides i need to avoid
― Jibe, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 00:40 (thirteen years ago)
Game over. Begin.
― Plasmon, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 03:10 (thirteen years ago)
Often make it into 30-40 second range on the easy level tonight but can't beat Square and make it to 45.
Took me awhile to recognize how the patterns repeat. My favorite pattern is the one that sometimes shows up around 18 seconds where you can make a constant left around a spiral, ~2 turns non stop. Whee.
Checkpoints would make this so much easier, it's the lack of practice on the later patterns that makes them so hard to beat. Same problem with the Impossible Game (have you beaten that too Mordy?).
― Plasmon, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 03:26 (thirteen years ago)
Begin.
It's that fucking pattern where each alternate conical segment has a wall in, which is then alternated immediately for the next wave. And the one where you have several long hooks very close together. Got hexagon on the first two, but the final one can barely get triangle regularly.
― Fizzles, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 07:04 (thirteen years ago)
Got to hexagon on the first level after a maddening best time of 59.43 yesterday. The unlocked hyper level is ridiculous.
This is probably the worst game to play after midnight when you have work in the morning.
― Plasmon, Friday, 2 November 2012 03:40 (thirteen years ago)
ha i tried playing it the other night coming back from an evening out and let me tell you, drinking def impairs you at this game

God damn!
Next try for the Donkey Kong record.
Or become a fighter pilot / F1 driver.

Hey Mordy could you do us all a quick favor and beat Battletoads by COB today? thanks!

COB COB COB.
― Jeff, Friday, 2 November 2012 19:10 (thirteen years ago)
your terrible idea: put together a social event at work called Corn on the COB
― but the boo boyz are getting to (Z S), Friday, 2 November 2012 19:11 (thirteen years ago)
Finally got hexagon on the 2nd stage, can barely get to triangle on the 3rd.
The moment around 12 seconds of the 3rd stage when the spinning board suddenly spins even faster for half a second and then jerks to a near stop is such a beautiful fuck you.

I've been playing this. Pretty good! Nintendo-style side-scrolling brawler with good play action and a surprisingly good sense of humor. Changes enough to keep it interesting (the boards/levels are never exactly the same twice)although as I've gotten further along the "quests" have taken me longer to achieve, especially the ones where you have to do x y's in a single game. I've been trying to knock down 15 torches in a game for days, best I've done is 11.
― Knut Horowitz, Able-Bodied Investment Banker and Ladies Man (Hurting 2), Monday, 5 November 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)
15 torches was a tough one. I'm stuck getting a 100 hit combo and 200 kills in one game.
― Jeff, Monday, 5 November 2012 16:17 (thirteen years ago)
anyone here play the board game PUERTO RICO? (mordy, i feel like you might?)
got the official ipad version, which is pretty faithful, but it's hard to find other players. anyone up for it?
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Monday, 5 November 2012 17:41 (thirteen years ago)
don't forget you can bypass the quests for 1000PP if you want to, i think i did that for the 200-hit combo onefor the torch one, i recommend Power Slam, you can uppercut/slam (2 hits) torches with the right spacing
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 17:49 (thirteen years ago)
you don't even need the power-up, but it gives a wider AOE
what's the deal with the hats? are they really just for show?
― Knut Horowitz, Able-Bodied Investment Banker and Ladies Man (Hurting 2), Monday, 5 November 2012 17:56 (thirteen years ago)
yup.
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)
you buy them so that if the person next to you on the bus happens to be familiar with the game, he'll see your hat and think "wow, that guy got a new hat". other than that, totally pointless.
― but the boo boyz are getting to (Z S), Monday, 5 November 2012 18:57 (thirteen years ago)
Bypassing quests isn't my style.
― Jeff, Monday, 5 November 2012 19:06 (thirteen years ago)
s1ocki, how much is ipad version? if it's not too much i'll grab it.
― Mordy, Monday, 5 November 2012 23:58 (thirteen years ago)
goddamnit I've wasted so many punchos in vain
― Knut Horowitz, Able-Bodied Investment Banker and Ladies Man (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 00:01 (thirteen years ago)
*wipes tear with extra hat*
Updated punch quest and now it Keeps crashing on start up. Do not want to uninstall and lose all of my progress. Gah

7.99, so not wicked cheap... but not terrrrible. u play the board game? it's great. (but very "euro"-y)
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)
i haven't played it, but i remember being interested when it was mentioned on the board games thread but those euro board games are expensive!
― Mordy, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 01:39 (thirteen years ago)
I bought the board game, popped out all 7,000 pieces and lost the will to play. It looked too convoluted.
― formerly r. bean (soda), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 01:40 (thirteen years ago)
like, I don't have the patience/executive function to organize, under the auspices of fun, something like this:

maybe it's better w/ the computer taking control of administrative stuff
― Mordy, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 01:42 (thirteen years ago)
yeah! is it worth it, slocki?
― formerly r. bean (soda), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 01:44 (thirteen years ago)
Oh hey I figured out a trick for punch quest -- apparently difficulty increases with your score (within a single game, I mean). So to complete the torch quest, I just did my best to avoid enemies and focus on torches -- I jumped over as many as possible, tried not to get combos, etc. That made it much easier to hit the torches.
― Knut Horowitz, Able-Bodied Investment Banker and Ladies Man (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 01:59 (thirteen years ago)
I don't look at this thread much but WAU :D @ Punch Quest
― sug night (sic), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 05:49 (thirteen years ago)
you know what, the game isn't too fiddly, it takes like five minutes to set up and then you're off! i prefer it IRL because you don't have to wait for people to make their moves, plus playing with friends is fun.
it's a great game. a really... "pure" game, if that makes any sense. there's not that much randomness. and the basic game mechanic is quite innovative and neat.
and i bought my copy for $30!
anyway, i recommend both the board game and the ipad version. though i worry that if you haven't played the board game, the ipad version might be hard to approach.
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 13:12 (thirteen years ago)
are we allowed to talk about other board games here or should i take it to the other thread?
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 13:13 (thirteen years ago)
I bought Puerto Rico on the ipad a long time ago but still haven't played; gonna give it a try!
― Euler, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 14:17 (thirteen years ago)
i recommend giving this podcast a listen if you're interested in puerto rico

Anyone playing Curiosity? I am stuck at the "joining" screen
― stet, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:09 (thirteen years ago)
Not just me then. Good work molyneux! There were interviews a few weeks ago where he's was saying "imagine a billion people all playing the same game at once" at the same time he was saying "actually if 500,000 people sign up on day one we're screwed". So here we are on day one and it goes "hey, you the 34,531st player.....connection error".
― JimD, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:22 (thirteen years ago)
ugh now I have the punch quest "101% punch accuracy" quest. I've gotten 100%, how does one get 101%?
― Knut Horowitz, Able-Bodied Investment Banker and Ladies Man (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:33 (thirteen years ago)
certain skills allow you to hit more than one monster with one punch
― Nhex, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:36 (thirteen years ago)
though i'm not sure you need to use them, i think with some timing you can hit two zombies at once
(Connected. Bored within 90 seconds. Cool experiment bro).
