Carmageddon free right now...

CraigG, Wednesday, 17 October 2012 20:11 (thirteen years ago)

I tried Carmageddon last night, but found it pretty horrible with virtual controls. Lost interest before I finished the first race.

JCL, Wednesday, 17 October 2012 20:18 (thirteen years ago)

Love it. Mostly for nostalgia reasons.

Jeff, Wednesday, 17 October 2012 20:19 (thirteen years ago)

so how is the zombie running game forks?

Mordy, Wednesday, 17 October 2012 21:15 (thirteen years ago)

interesting? not really a game, more like an audio book with occasional prompts to RUN spread out over 30 one hour/one half hour (your choice) sessions, interspersed with music from your playlist. Not bad if you need an excuse to get jogging again and i do. it's a little wonky and buggy; i would recommend a one time practice run where the first chapter is gonna be a throwaway.

let's have sex and then throw pottery (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 17 October 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

oh bummer. i was hoping that as you ran you unlocked different missions - run X amount to save a survivor, to raid a supermarket - then with a game element that the amount of running you do actually influences (and if you don't run often enough there are negative consequences from not being able to outfit survivors, protect compound, etc).

Mordy, Wednesday, 17 October 2012 21:37 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, not much of that. occasionally zombies attack while music plays and you need to hotfoot to keep from losing supplies you pick up along the way. The rpg element is that you use those supplies to build up your "base camp" and unlock other missions.

Anyone rockin letterpress

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Thursday, 25 October 2012 04:16 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, not sure whether I'm enjoying it though, it's a bit frustrating, I maybe don't have the patience for it.

JimD, Thursday, 25 October 2012 08:10 (thirteen years ago)

was killing it until i met some demon last night and now we're in an endless struggle to not use one of the two final tiles, both of which are Ws. Tis fun.

stet, Thursday, 25 October 2012 08:11 (thirteen years ago)

will give it a shot

Nhex, Thursday, 25 October 2012 13:04 (thirteen years ago)

was gonna say that POCKET PLANES is my thing but a flight just arrived in Lagos so no time right now

Euler, Thursday, 25 October 2012 15:14 (thirteen years ago)

Kairosoft's Pocket Clothier finally released.

I'm playing Puzzle Craft far longer than expected.

the max in the high castle (kingfish), Thursday, 25 October 2012 15:18 (thirteen years ago)

POCKET CLOTHIER.

is it good? from the title is sounds amazing.

Mordy, Thursday, 25 October 2012 15:21 (thirteen years ago)

(full disclosure; a friend of mine wrote this, but it's pretty good fun. Don't think it's quite out on iOS yet, but it's coming)

CraigG, Thursday, 25 October 2012 16:17 (thirteen years ago)

Scrap that, it's totally out on iOS too already.

CraigG, Thursday, 25 October 2012 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

can 200000000 just come out already

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Thursday, 25 October 2012 17:11 (thirteen years ago)

letterpress is cool. I'm josephcotten on gamecenter if anyone wants a game.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Thursday, 25 October 2012 21:39 (thirteen years ago)

Pocket Clothier is just...different. And sorta weird. They try to work in achievements, in a clunky-ass way.

the max in the high castle (kingfish), Friday, 26 October 2012 15:53 (thirteen years ago)

okay I am an addict; I bought Super Monsters Ate My Condo and it's fukken great

Gandalf’s Gobble Melt (DJP), Friday, 26 October 2012 15:54 (thirteen years ago)

seems like the IAP stuff would kinda wreck the competitiveness, since you can buy bonus multipliers; tell me if i'm wrong though

Nhex, Friday, 26 October 2012 16:27 (thirteen years ago)

IAP power-ups are the worst thing that has ever happened to gaming

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Friday, 26 October 2012 16:29 (thirteen years ago)

weird things happening with game centre. Polyphonic I seem to be in a game with you where I apparently played "GHOSTING" ... but I didn't!

stet, Friday, 26 October 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)

it was a pretty good word

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Friday, 26 October 2012 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

I never do IAP stuff so it hasn't ruined the game for me; the main thing you can buy are extra coins so that you can always have three boosts going in a game (and some boosts are deceptively beneficial; the "double pig/clock/multiplier one is amazing, plus they made the blue monster's power super useful by having him double the effect of pigs/clocks/multipliers)

Gandalf’s Gobble Melt (DJP), Friday, 26 October 2012 16:43 (thirteen years ago)

i have played this game a lot, but im kind of hungry and hungover, and i must say, that sentence is just nonsense to me haha

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Friday, 26 October 2012 16:49 (thirteen years ago)

get Super MAMC, it will all make sense

Nhex, Saturday, 27 October 2012 06:37 (thirteen years ago)

Ok, my problems with letterpress are a) buggy as shit, half my moves fail to register b) wouldn't let me play the word 'doldrum' c) the fundamental game theory underpinning this seems a bit broke? Basically it plays out similarly to a game of nim most of the time: if you can make sure you take the last square you're pretty much guaranteed a win, because it's hard to build up a very big lead at any stage. For that reason there's an incentive to avoid covering uncoloured letters at all, the best strategy is to try to maintain a stalemate position by only using letters that have been used before while waiting for your opponent to spread out enough for you to put in the killing move. And if you're both playing with that strategy then ok, stalemates are finite because the possible wordset is finite, but they can still last a LONG time. Long enough to suck all the fun out of playing.

JimD, Saturday, 27 October 2012 07:52 (thirteen years ago)

HE-MAN

Jeff, Saturday, 27 October 2012 13:04 (thirteen years ago)

JimD OTM. But there is a third way: if you can protect all the vowels, you can leave the last square to the other player and they still won't have enough to win. Harder to pull off, though.

stet, Saturday, 27 October 2012 13:55 (thirteen years ago)

trying to get onto the top 25 all time list for hyper hexagonest. currently i'm #34, ~3-4 seconds away from getting onto the list.
