oh hell yeah, I get it now. It's going to be a long day.

I finally bought Bully and now just want time to play it! Someone said on the Fable 2 thread that Bully was to GTA as Fable 2 is to Oblivion. I'm enjoying Fable 2 a ton and have had my struggles with GTA so I am PUMPED about Bully; plus I love school.

Euler, Wednesday, 28 January 2009 13:39 (seventeen years ago)

wow, just had my worst xbox live experience yet

was playing some dude on ranked SF2HDR with deejay and he was beating me comfortably 2-0 (mostly because I was playing and responding to e-mails at the same time). so I perfected him by trapping him in a crossup loop that he didn't seem to know how to deal with, then almost perfected him again, in the third round when I crossed him up twice in a row, he quit!

I messaged him "the problem is you don't have any rhythm" :D

he sent me a voice message (in french) which definitely mentioned "merde" and "motherfucker"

he then proceeded to spam me with "invites to chat" for the next 31 minutes; apparently there's a glitch where you can hammer the a-button on the invite and it will just send out tonnes of them and you can't "block communications" from a private chat invite

looooooooooooool

his GT is "stonehenge XIII" in case you ever come across him

Can someone explain here how you would go about returning a rrod 360? Like, just in case?

You have to request a repair on the xbox website. Then they will either send you a box or tell you to go get one yourself. I had to go get one myself, but they sent me a printable UPS label, and I brought the box to UPS and they shipped it for free. I just had to pay for a box and some bubble wrap.

If they tell you that you have to pay to have it repaired, I suggest calling and talking to someone, which worked for me even though my "1-year warranty" had expired. You do not need your receipt, just the serial number on the box.

Also, they have several steps that they ask you to do (check to see if the power supply is working, etc.) before they'll initiate a repair.

Yeah, Bully was a very pleasant, easy gaming experience. When I bought Skate the other day there was a kid in front of me in line with Bully, and I was thinking "wise choice, my young friend." He was probably thinking "WHO IS THIS OLD DOUCHE BEHIND ME IN LINE".

Yeah, this sounds great to me. I appreciate the idea of a gaming gauntlet, proving you're hardcore and awesome at gaming (I put that I beat Rygar on NES on my CV (not really)), but ultimately I just want to have fun.

MSFT didn't ask me any questions about power supply or whatever when mine had rrod. I just went to the website, chose the "three red rings" option, and that was it. I didn't even have to enter anything about the warranty, just the serial number (which is on the back of the xbox too, not just on the box).

thnx for info guys. I hope I never need it but...

MARK HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT BRAVE FENCER MUSASHI? (cozwn), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 17:45 (seventeen years ago)

yay I just got mine back from rrod rehab! didnt take as long as i expected. are you guys still only playing Left 4 Dead?

sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 20:19 (seventeen years ago)

THE MAW

Donate your display name to Gaza (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 21:04 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i played the (way too short IMHO) demo of that and was intrigued, but i haven't gotten the full boat game yet. worth it?

oh BTW bought Facebreaker on superclearance at Target and it is ok, kind of diverting so far. actual pseudo career ladder match thing is really shockingly hard, but doesn't feel like it will get very rewarding (oh look more slightly reskinned character outfits zzzzzzzzzzzzzz). actually having more fun with it than reviews led me to expect.

I liked the Maw demo but wasn't blown away.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 21:38 (seventeen years ago)

i was definitely not blown away but you still kind of want to see how big the little guy gets

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 16:25 (seventeen years ago)

just switched on my 360 to get the disc out, had already taken off the hd and the memory card......bloody thing worked, no more rrod! What do I do?

problem chimp (Porkpie), Wednesday, 4 February 2009 16:25 (seventeen years ago)

When mine went, it would start up 5 minutes later after cooldown without rrod. Then five minutes later, rrod again. I repeated this three or four times, and sent it in. I gather from the status updates MSFT provided on the repair that it was indeed rrod.

Euler, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 16:39 (seventeen years ago)

xp same thing happened to me once, I just turned it off and in a few minutes it worked again. took about a year before I got rrod again, and then it was the real deal

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 16:40 (seventeen years ago)

ok, so the H-A-W-X tom clancy flight game demo seems pretty good. between that and the "afro samurai" demo not sucking (see specific thread) i was starting to doubt my sanity. fotunately, i finally downloaded the legendary demo and it was every bit as bad as expected.

srsly tho, the hawx demo is kind of sweet.

did you like the weird camera, jjj? the 60fps ws nice but it grinds as soon as stuff gets busy

did you ever try ace combat 6?

cozwn, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 09:38 (seventeen years ago)

anyone try the halo wars demo?

cozwn, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 09:38 (seventeen years ago)

also FUCK the new 1200pts standard pricepoint imo

cozwn, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 10:19 (seventeen years ago)

Ok, so I just "completed" Fallout 3 (the first 360 game I've completed), and taking a break from side-quests etc for a while I have achieved a ranking of "1st" in the championship thing of Project Gotham Racing 4. So, I need to decide what to hit next:

I'm at the start of Chapter 4 of both Gears of War and Gears of War II.
I also have the following unopened, untouched games:
Bioshock
GTA IV
Assassin's Creed

I've also done most of Braid. So, what do I do? Should I complete the ones I've already started, or start another new game? It's a quandary. I really should stop buying more games, but keep seeing them in sales (am yet to pay more than £17.99 for a game on the 360, which is good) and don't want to miss out.

CraigG, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 12:00 (seventeen years ago)

Finish Braid. Pick up Bioshock. You'll be happy.

Also, the game will have toilets. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 14:14 (seventeen years ago)

loved the "safety on" camera, looked really great. the safety off camera was odd, but actually started to make sense to me and kind of worked i guess. didn't get grindy for me. controls seemed workably simple, which surprised me because i figured mr clancy would put like pressure sensitive fuel line control on each trigger and independent button based aileron control and a bunch of other unplayable nonsense in there for the sake of bullshit realism instead of good old BRAKE GAS. seemed like a super arcadey anti-flight sim which was really refreshing and fun, like a great looking crimson skies reboot without all the stupid capture the flag shit.

should i give ace combat 6 a shot, given all this? kind of passed me by.

From Rax to Rich's (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

woah Ace Combat looks awesome! I cut my teeth on Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer on PC back in the day and haven't much touched flight sims since, not even Crimson Skies. But I have been looking for one, and the Eurogamer review of Ace Combat makes it sound fab.

Euler, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

The demo was horrible

Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 17:48 (seventeen years ago)

yeah I should try this demo and the Tom Clancy one before buying. And I have too many things to play still, haven't even opened Fallout 3 yet.

Euler, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 17:50 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah I found Ace Combat kinda boring. Crimson Skies, on the other hand, is great.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

I enjoyed the Halo Wars demo but I'm not a very sophisticated rts player, I just like to build base for hours and then airstrike the enemy to doom in a single attack

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

2 things:

1. The big capcom reveal of their new project would have worked better if the gameplay video didnt look like complete ass
2. Starting out the deal of the week thing with discounted Braid bodes well for the future.

Hey Will, my rrod ....disappeared. It could happen to you maybe - since it came back, haven't had a single problem whereas before I was having controllers drop out etc.

problem chimp (Porkpie), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 08:30 (seventeen years ago)

i've had the rrod come and go before but this is th first time it won't disappear.

Brilli.am/writes (Will M.), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 15:19 (seventeen years ago)

just got an xbox today....can't think of a username for live tho

maybe just stick with local garda. i was going to call myself "frseanfortune" but felt naming my tag after a convicted paedo might not be as funny after a few weeks, or if i was playing some childerz.

Local Garda, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

yeah my inability to come up with a clever live username is how i ended up as "nnnnnggggghhhhh", which ive really come to like over time.

!nuo más¡ (jjjusten), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 18:40 (seventeen years ago)

i am LOCALGARDA on this btw...feel free to add ilxorz, I have Halo 3 and SFIV and am shit at both.
