i've been starting from 1-1 each time - my gamertag is Shinefield

I pretty much always start at the beginning. I've only opened up a shortcut to the second section so far, where I hardly ever seem to collect any money anyway, since it's tough enough just to try to get through those levels. Ugh, going to go play more.

i'd open up the next shortcut but i never have the shotgun when passing through.

me neither. i died on 2-4 with a shotgun in my hand yesterday.

mark of the ninja is pretty impressive. there's a demo up that i highly recommend if you are intrigued.

ok, i was wondering if i was just bad at this. even on the pc version i think i made it past the ice levels twice. the jungle is really tough! god help you if you find those bees.

(and i mean twice out of probably over 1,000 deaths)

bees are easy to isolate though! endless boomerang dudes/spike trap combos, on the other hand...

high on the schizophrenic "hey wait what game am i playing" scale, esp since the second of the three scenarios is basically a call of duty level. cant shoot or stomp zombies on the ground even though you know that they are going to get up until you hit some magic trigger point and they go unghghhhh and rise up, which is TOTALLY MADDENING on the first most old school scenario. survival horror dudes are going to hate this game.

that's dumb. i've been playing RE4 mercenaries for the last few days (for the first time really) and shooting/stabbing them when they're down is basic.

pretty sure i'm going to skip this game and give Dishonored a shot.

well you can shoot/stomp them once you have knocked them down, its just those moments where you walk in a room and there is a corpse like sitting in a chair right by the far exit or lying across the floor next to a table with a keycard, obv set up to grab at you when you get over there. but nope. cant shoot the zombie until the game says "OH NO ZOMBIE WHERE THAT COME FROM" at you.

this is made even funnier by the fact that your dude will literally stumble/trip over these exact same not zombie zombies half the time.

survival horror is the worst genre

script is pretty lolsome as well esp the second scenario where you basically give generic hero platoon leader speech #438 right at the beginning. "my job is to get us all through this alive, so buck up private insertnamehere, we were born to do this."

gonna try the demo; maybe i'll pick it up when it inevitably hits $40 around Black Friday

i bought borderlands 2 and so far i regret it. i don't think this game is for me.

If you liked the first one I think it'll be fine. I just don't feel comfortable with the controls at all so far.

btw if any of yall were wondering if people actually won that dumb scratch and win game they have on live, i won it last night. you do not get to choose from the 4 options, which means i am now the proud owner of some twin stick thing called aqua.

Also FYI if anybody needs any help tearing apart their 360, after doing it abt 7 times to fix my won't read discs/won't open tray problem, I am now an expert.

On the plus side, shit is loading much faster. On the downside, my Xbox is now much louder than before? I am a tech genius.

I am guessing that it was muffled by the pound of Henry hair I just removed from it tbh. Not actually kidding,

i used to work in a store that repaired PS2s. After enhancing the breakage of the first 5 that were given to me, i was quietly removed from repair duty.

spent yesterday afternoon getting reacquainted with jet set radio, which I downloaded from XBLA. some observations:

- the controls really are infuriating at points. it's got that quality that seemed pretty prevalent around that time with games in 3D environments where they had the tech sorted pretty well to build the environments but everybody was still grasping for ways to move around in it, deal with camera control issues, etc. so this game where there's such dynamic action actually controls in a really leaden way that I obviously had more tolerance for back then... because it was more the norm, maybe? when you do actually get flowing along it's really thrilling, mind you.

- the art style and the cel-shading are still superb. more games should've jacked cel-shading!

- I'd forgotten how bonkers the music is. you wouldn't get it nowadays; especially if you tangentially cast this in the extreme sports genre, it'd have a bland licensed soundtrack and lose half the charm as a result.

the new worms game, worms revolution, is fab.

Torchlight on sale, impulse buy, hope this doesn't suck.

$3.00 for El Shaddai gives me some major backlog guilt, picked it up on disc a while back. Tried the demo last year, seems like a visually stylish game with mediocre combat, but the general weirdness seems worth the purchase price
