Poople Crud.

JimD, Tuesday, 21 August 2012 13:37 (thirteen years ago)

i want to like this game more but it just seems like tiny-towers-esque busywork

i mean i know ALL games are pointless but the good ones make you forget that

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 13:39 (thirteen years ago)

nah, this genre specifically creates work that's fun, cute, or amusing with some kind of artificial reward structure; in contrast to actual work, which is soulsucking, joyless, and your only reward is being one step closer to death

Nhex, Tuesday, 21 August 2012 16:07 (thirteen years ago)

not sure about death but I am one step closer to the castle, which is all that matters

Euler, Tuesday, 21 August 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

level 24 atm

"Batshit crazy," the foam clog tycoon said. (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 17:52 (thirteen years ago)

just built the castle at level 26; ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Euler, Tuesday, 21 August 2012 18:37 (thirteen years ago)

fiiiiinally beat 100000000000000000. that final run was really sad and intense, because i knew when i crossed the 10000000000000000000 mark that it would be the last time i'd ever play it.

I'm holding out for new content, but yeah, I've loaded it since winning & don't have the heart to try anymore

btw Plague is super fun!

Euler, Thursday, 23 August 2012 22:45 (thirteen years ago)

puzzlecraft is actively NOT FUN but is addictive. I'm just under a million points but i want to quit forever

"Batshit crazy," the foam clog tycoon said. (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 23 August 2012 23:01 (thirteen years ago)

It's my favorite type of game. I love those grind it out games where I know exactly what I have to do it just takes time to do it.

Jeff, Thursday, 23 August 2012 23:07 (thirteen years ago)

It reminded me of Jetpack Joyride - particularly the way you're not actually doing much different at the start than at the end, but you've passed a bunch of milestones, most of them by default.

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 23 August 2012 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

plague is hella depressing

i'm waiting for civilization to end

yeah but when it does, you win!

I'm on fungal spores now & it's hard!

Euler, Friday, 24 August 2012 03:20 (thirteen years ago)

Seriously guys qonqr, destroy your neighbors w/nanobots, I will kill you all.

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Friday, 24 August 2012 04:55 (thirteen years ago)

Cafeteria Nipponica is worth it, but like most Kairosoft, you can wring the fun out of it with two long plane rides.

Still, four bucks for round-trip distraction is worth it.

Fiendish Doctor Wu (kingfish), Friday, 24 August 2012 04:58 (thirteen years ago)

I'm having more fun with CSR racing than I did with Puzzlecraft.

JimD, Friday, 24 August 2012 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

Damn, The World Ends With You just released outta nowhere.
I have this on DS but was unable to get into it. Tempted to see if iPad is a better play but it's twenty bucks.

The muted sensation feels amazeballs. (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 August 2012 06:22 (thirteen years ago)

damn, i guess square can still get away with those prices eh? well, it's a really great game, but it's one of the few DS games that really had you using both the stylus AND the buttons all at once in a crazy ass frenzy - not to mention actually having to pay attention to both screens! - i'm a little skeptical about how this port's gonna work

Nhex, Monday, 27 August 2012 06:50 (thirteen years ago)

Cafe Nipponica is inessential compared to some of the other Kairosofts, but hey, it's another one.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Monday, 27 August 2012 06:53 (thirteen years ago)

Beat Puzzle Craft, need more.

Jeff, Monday, 27 August 2012 11:23 (thirteen years ago)

I already have game dev story. What would you say are the "essential" kairosofts beyond that?

s.clover, Wednesday, 29 August 2012 15:40 (thirteen years ago)

i liked that racing one

Mordy, Wednesday, 29 August 2012 16:03 (thirteen years ago)

Actually Nipponica is probably as essential as the others. They're all the same game.

The racing one was a bit of an outlier in that you aren't interacting with customers. It has that in common with Game Dev.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 29 August 2012 17:55 (thirteen years ago)

having never played a game of Magic, I am now very much hooked on the iPad version

I couldn't get over the learning curb. I'm a dummy with those card games.

Jeff, Wednesday, 29 August 2012 21:38 (thirteen years ago)

Curve.

Jeff, Wednesday, 29 August 2012 21:38 (thirteen years ago)

generally me too
kinda fought through.

Kairosofts I liked:

Venture Towns
Epic RPG / Dungeonville (same game, pick your genre)
Pocket League

The only one that seemed really inessential was the Mega Mall Story. But then again, I fly several hours every week so I always grab the latest one as it will provide enough entertainment for the flight(s).

Fiendish Doctor Wu (kingfish), Thursday, 30 August 2012 07:46 (thirteen years ago)

I liked Mega Mall Story, but it was too easy. It was just non-stop upgrading and success.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Thursday, 30 August 2012 17:16 (thirteen years ago)

I started Epic Astro Story, and for about 8 game years I thought it might be my favorite Kairosoft game, but it becomes a real slog after awhile.

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

how do i shot upgraded hit in 10000000?

stet, Wednesday, 5 September 2012 18:27 (thirteen years ago)

played 3 hours of solid 10000000 on flight home from croatia

nnnnnnngggggghhhhhhh

skrill xx (cozen), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 19:02 (thirteen years ago)

I played this game for a long ass time before I even realized there was a way to upgrade the rooms.. had like 100k wood and stone to spend.

johnathan lee riche$ (mayor jingleberries), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 20:07 (thirteen years ago)

Middle Manager of Justice is such a wasted opportunity. Double Fine could do much better.

I just spent a short flight playing spell sword. Good recommendation! Lots of fun! Also, unlike some of the games, it's a small download and free. Def worth a download.

Thanks WEBSITE!! (Z S), Thursday, 6 September 2012 23:43 (thirteen years ago)

Spellsword was pretty cool, I can vouch

Nhex, Friday, 7 September 2012 00:32 (thirteen years ago)

been playing lots of Plague Inc. & it's super fun & I highly recommend it. plus then I read headlines like this & think, oh shit, I know this one ends, in the complete extinction of the human species

Euler, Friday, 7 September 2012 02:43 (thirteen years ago)

little things forever is a low stress "find the hidden object" game.
at two bucks i have gotten my money's worth and then some.
TBRR i have been hooked on Magic Planeswalker the Nerdening. It's the first time I've spent ten bucks on an ipad game and it's sadly worth it.
