the actual robot-shooting gameplay is kind of whatever, not gears-level polish but better than most i guess.

i'm kinda trogging my way through the original Gears right now - the story indeed does suck

what would I have to add to the eurogamer PC to run dayz?
― skrill xx (cozen), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 10:14 (thirteen years ago)
cozen u should also check refurbished PCs. you can pick up some real bargains if you're not bothered abt the system & components being brand-new ( do your research of course!)

Bought Rage yesterday for $10. What is the ILG consensus on that one ?
― calstars, Wednesday, 18 July 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)
I also bought Rage the other day (for $10), but I've only played less than an hour. So far it feels like a pretty generic shooter, well actually it feels almost exactly like the beginning of Borderlands. Go talk to this guy, go fetch him something, shoot a bunch of mutant dudes, get thing, bring it back to guy, go see another guy...

Tempted to get Indie Bundle VII. I already own Dredmor (ok) and Zombie Driver (good) so I'd be going in for Vessel, QUBE and Avadon. Thoughts?
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 July 2012 01:46 (thirteen years ago)
Part of me also thinks that Vessel and QUBE seem destined for humble/indie bundles
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 July 2012 01:47 (thirteen years ago)
I got Reccettear, the other two games in the Carpe Fulgur pack aren't any more expensive if you just get them separately anyway, and I've never heard of either of them. Worth grabbing?
― JimD, Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:40 (thirteen years ago)
I don't get the impression they're as good as Recettear just from chatter - I got them purely to support the translation group for their work on Recettear, tbh. One of them actually is a action-RPG that came out before earlier, I believe. I'll let you know in 20XX how they are when I get around to 'em...
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:12 (thirteen years ago)
all GTA games bundle for under a tenner.
― PSOD (Ste), Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:27 (thirteen years ago)
minus the psp 'stories' games, but does include GTAIV & dlcs
― PSOD (Ste), Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:28 (thirteen years ago)
I think it was £4.99 yesterday, but even at a tenner it's great value. I can't even remember if I bought it at £4.99 - that's how bad this mega-steam-sale has become. I definitely bought *something* last night, just can't remember what.

Anyone have any thoughts on The Longest Journey, the current community choice, also available in a bundle with "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey", which appears to be some kind of sequel?
― still small voice of clam (a passing spacecadet), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:35 (thirteen years ago)
Never got around to Dreamfall, but The Longest Journey is a very solid adventure game - one of those games that was so overlooked when it came out it kinda got turned around and became overrated on the internet - but still, it does correctly lay claim to being the last great adventure game of that age. Just remember it's going to have lots of '90s adventure game quirks (many many screens to walk through from A to B, pixel object hunts, some bizarre puzzle logic, etc.), but overall definitely worth it if you're into the genre. Easy recommend at that price.
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:42 (thirteen years ago)
xp Yes buy it immediately. Dreamfall is odd and ambitious (and kind of unrelated), but Dreamfall is an amazing adventure.
― Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:42 (thirteen years ago)
I guess I should also mention the story/character/world are definitely well done, stuff you probably care about
Didn't realise how old it was, but I grew up on Lucasarts and Sierra adventures so I can live with the quirks, though I'll admit my patience for them isn't what it was. Sounds worth the price, thanks!
― still small voice of clam (a passing spacecadet), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:47 (thirteen years ago)
Haha replace the second Dreamfall with 'The Longest Journey' to save the kingdom my sentence.

Bulletstorm £3.74. Oblivion with the 2 main DLC packs, £3.74 (or £4.99 with all the other DLC too, but that's just horse armour etc right?)
― JimD, Saturday, 21 July 2012 13:45 (thirteen years ago)
Finally gave in, bought Civ 5 and all DLC/expansions

Reading thru the list of cheevos on Civ 5, I'm impressed by the wit thats gone into them, referencing everything from musicals to geek pop culture to Shakespeare to slight adaptations of Latin, etc

+ Bastion and the Amanita Games pack. Had a look at Machinarium this evening and it's cute as hell and basically everything a point&click should be.
Keep getting sucked back into Grimrock though. I started again with a different party config because I gimped my 1st setup really badly. It's repetitive, kind of boring, frustrating, soothing and compulsive.
― Also unknown as Zora (Surfing At Work), Sunday, 22 July 2012 21:57 (thirteen years ago)
i picked up grimrock in the sale, really enjoying. i knew i would like it, don't know why i was hesitating to this point. fairly happy with my party so far. only maybe one or two tweaks i would make. did not need to play it on hard tho, have a feeling i am going to end up regretting that choice.
― Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 22 July 2012 22:37 (thirteen years ago)
Spent the last two days playing Civ. Having to readjust your expectations of what the Wonders do with each game is weird, but I guess it keeps the variety.
I want the ability to trade tech again.
Picked up Just Cause 2 for cheap tonight, played the first level. It really is a playground of chaos and blowing stuff up good, aint it?
― Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Monday, 23 July 2012 06:55 (thirteen years ago)
Ooof, that's me sorted out until Christmas - 32 purchases for £160.67 - nearly exactly a fiver each.

― adam, Thursday, 26 July 2012 18:32 (thirteen years ago)
Hmm, I'm historically kind of a TMBG completist and I haven't picked up that rarities collection yet, but even I'm still pretty much yeah whatever at the prospect of this.
― JimD, Thursday, 26 July 2012 18:34 (thirteen years ago)
mc frontalot is a dude that raps about geek culture. If you are interested you can go and find a lot of his work on torrent sites, but be warned that many of them have a tracker in them, and after a few days mc frontalot will mail you to thank you for participating in geek culture.

yeah, i never did get that TMBG comp so what the hell. not to mention they're a bit late on the music bundle scene, but this is a more "legit" bundle than most of the ones i've seen
― Nhex, Thursday, 26 July 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)
Is War for Cybertron worth it? AAA console games that are only $7.50 I'm kinda a sucker for, since you're getting a title and usually an experience I wouldn't otherwise have for cheap.
