as the SA Steam thread says, WAIT FOR THE DAILY DEAL.

But I went ahead and bought Stacking anyway, since its just seven fiddy.

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Friday, 13 July 2012 01:51 (thirteen years ago)

i'll wait for a daily on analogue, otherwise it's last day

grimrock, i'm pretty tempted, but no mac means i'll probably never play at this pt

thumbs up on bit.trip.runner, very cool, but almost certainly gonna be a daily deal

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 01:57 (thirteen years ago)

Spacechem $2.50 for the next hour - easy recommendation
Can anyone recommend the Back to the Future game?

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 02:02 (thirteen years ago)

I can not recommend it unless you love the telltale style

This clam, stranded on someone’s floor, is trying to dig itself (forksclovetofu), Friday, 13 July 2012 03:03 (thirteen years ago)

i'm kinda 50/50 on it, so... i guess not. i'm thinking about getting that Walking Dead game if it goes daily

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 03:08 (thirteen years ago)

i still need to finish playing all those Sam & Max's. For some reason, the jokes seem far slower in coming than the lucasarts original.

or the comics, even.

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Friday, 13 July 2012 04:11 (thirteen years ago)

the comics were crazy tho! but you're right, everything feels slower

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 04:37 (thirteen years ago)

I think Steve Purcell is still out there working at Pixar, which is perfect if you think about it

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Friday, 13 July 2012 04:43 (thirteen years ago)

Trine 2 under $4 right now.

abanana, Friday, 13 July 2012 07:59 (thirteen years ago)

- bought Legend of Grimrock
- forgot to buy SpaceChem in the flash sale, annoyed even though I didn't really like the demo
- got excited about a Telltale Collection which was slightly cheaper than the complete set was at Christmas and then realised it isn't the complete set, not buying that
- thinking of maybe picking up Indie Game: The Movie or Civ 3 ($2.50 I guess? £1.49 anyway) before the end of the summer sale

zappi's rumours were correct about the first indie bundle, so, assuming the others are right too, any thoughts on their contents? I have one game from pretty much each bundle, so they're still potentially a good deal

put a fillyjonk on it (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 13 July 2012 08:46 (thirteen years ago)

Got Trine 1 and 2 for £3.49. I KNOW I WILL NEVER PLAY THEM.

JimD, Friday, 13 July 2012 08:58 (thirteen years ago)

- bought Legend of Grimrock
- did not buy Legend of Grimrock because after adding it to my cart I realised my graphics card isn't up to it

put a fillyjonk on it (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 13 July 2012 09:00 (thirteen years ago)

Three purchases in the last 12 hours! I mean three transactions, 14 games purchased (mostly because they dropped below £10)

Also previously unaware of (and now very thankful for) the feature where it'll block out the 'buy for me' button if you've already got one of the games.

Andrew Farrell, Friday, 13 July 2012 09:08 (thirteen years ago)

got Trine 2. bring 'em on, Steam

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 11:51 (thirteen years ago)

thanks for the portal 2 heads-up. am tempted to buy it even though i don't have the disk space for it (see also lego batman - bought at christmas, still not even downloaded let alone played)

koogs, Friday, 13 July 2012 11:54 (thirteen years ago)

make sure you get portal before the deal ends this afternoon

Current flash deals:
Sanctum $2.50
easy recommend for tower defense people, though i wouldn't rank it as high as Defense Grid
Darksiders $5
gonna pass but kingfish, this one's for u

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 11:56 (thirteen years ago)

oof, now i'm mad at myself for not yelling at you guys to pick up Saints Row 3 last night

JimD, Friday, 13 July 2012 12:26 (thirteen years ago)

had me worried there, but i got in with only 16 hours to spare 8)

koogs, Friday, 13 July 2012 12:56 (thirteen years ago)

skyrim + new vegas and all NV dlc, brink and Hunted (whatever that is). all for £40.

PSOD (Ste), Friday, 13 July 2012 13:04 (thirteen years ago)

seems inevitable that Skyrim and New Vegas will both be daily/flash deals, and I think Brink already was

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 13:21 (thirteen years ago)

Brink's 75% off right now.

Andrew Farrell, Friday, 13 July 2012 13:40 (thirteen years ago)

oh yeah - it's in the community poll right now with GRAW2 and Stronghold

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 14:15 (thirteen years ago)

I've never heard anybody say anything good about Brink after it actually came out, so buyer beware. Ditto Stronghold 3.

JCL, Friday, 13 July 2012 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

I always get more out of a game if i pay full price for it rather than at a discount.

calstars, Friday, 13 July 2012 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

but then you lose the immeasurable satisfaction of dollars per hour of entertainment ratio boosting

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

ok, i bought portal 2 + analogue: a hate story

Mordy, Friday, 13 July 2012 14:50 (thirteen years ago)

New flash deals:
Hoard $2.50
Super SF4 AE - $10

tempted on both. but... well, i already have AE on Xbox, but I'll be tempted to double dip if anyone else is getting it. Hoard I hear is good but is also pretty multiplayer focused

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 15:10 (thirteen years ago)

shiit, 4-pack of AE is only $30

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Friday, 13 July 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

somebody let me know when Red Faction: Guerilla drops below 33% off.

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Friday, 13 July 2012 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

I wonder how much EA is losing out on by pulling all their games. I mean, yeah, their own service gets them a better cut of each sale, but how is an Origin sale going to compete with the hyped seasonal purchasing frenzy that accompanies each regular Steam event?

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Friday, 13 July 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

They lose the benefit of discovery

calstars, Friday, 13 July 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)

And the ease of looking up a game

calstars, Friday, 13 July 2012 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

Has an aggregator of all the stores been developed?

calstars, Friday, 13 July 2012 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

there's been a few, this is the only one i remember off the bat:
http://www.steamgamesales.com/

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 17:54 (thirteen years ago)

new dailies are up, i'll get back to that a bit later

flash deals:

Lara Croft And The Guardian of Light - $3.74
very easy recommend - just try to get someone to go in with you on it, going in blind co-op is a must

Worms Reloaded: utter garbage do not get this

Nhex, Friday, 13 July 2012 17:56 (thirteen years ago)

Anyone played From Dust, from the guy who did Flashback / Another World? I have fond nostalgic memories of those and love god games so I guess it's right up my street but I've also got to calm down and stop buying stuff. Reviews are mixed, some good ones and some "it's very pretty but where's the game" etc

(it's a daily deal for £3, so I guess $5 or thereabouts)

still small voice of clam (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 13 July 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, "it's very pretty but where's the game" is spot on.

thomasintrouble, Friday, 13 July 2012 21:46 (thirteen years ago)

I just bought Portal 2 for £3.74 - slightly more than a pint and slightly less than a packet of cigs. I reckon I can justify it OK.

thomasintrouble, Friday, 13 July 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

I just added Shogun 2 to the list I posted on the PC gaming thread (Portals 1 & 2, Anno 2070, Grimrock). Turns out an old friend worked on the UI and is pretty pleased with himself, so I said I'd have a look... one day when someone's blown up the bank and I don't have to work. \o/

Tempted by From Dust. Brink no good then?

Also unknown as Zora (Surfing At Work), Friday, 13 July 2012 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

Thanks Thomas. Guess I'll just look at From Dust on youtube instead of buying it and wait for the 15th Anniversary rejig of Another World to be half price on GOG, then...

(probably never going to happen, but still)

still small voice of clam (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 13 July 2012 23:19 (thirteen years ago)

Another World was actually 60% off at GOG earlier in the year... so it'll probably come back again

Nhex, Saturday, 14 July 2012 03:05 (thirteen years ago)

Will anyone rep for Payday: The Heist or Space Marine?

Nhex, Saturday, 14 July 2012 03:05 (thirteen years ago)

Might get Toy Soldiers, one of my friends was raving about it a while back

Nhex, Saturday, 14 July 2012 03:06 (thirteen years ago)

Rock Paper Shotgun on Space Marine - basically try out the demo, it's all like that.

Andrew Farrell, Saturday, 14 July 2012 06:42 (thirteen years ago)

YS Origin cheap as chips for the next 20 mins

PSOD (Ste), Saturday, 14 July 2012 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

Somebody tell me whether Anno 2070 is worth it. I've been playing a lot of Anno 1404, and this looks like it borrows much of the same gameplay and in-game assets

Steam Sale Jonesin' (kingfish), Saturday, 14 July 2012 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

tom chick loved it

Mordy, Saturday, 14 July 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

missed the Ys sale but i'm still not sure about it anyway

i've heard that Anno 2070 has been on sale on Amazon/other outlets at the same discount, so don't worry too much about grabbing it now
