Journey is pretty good but Binary Domain (new game from the guy behind the Yakuza series after he played Gears of War) is AWESOME.

so... i finally got myself one of these, the 320gb+uncharted bundle. now what do i do? what have i missed? i really don't have a clue what games to get, because i have been ignoring them all for the last few years, for the sake of my mental well-being i guess. genre doesn't really matter, every bit of help is welcome.

i bought a playstation 3 back in january. so far i've really, really enjoyed:

- metal gear solid 4
- grand theft auto 4
- skyrim
- red dead redemption

and i'll put a vote in for the mass effect series altho everything i ever invested into it feels invalidated with the ending of the 3rd one. i'm assuming you don't want that spoiled, but be forewarned: great game, great series, but it has an ending beyond how fucked the matrix series concluded itself

but whereas i tend to think of the matrix on it's own terms and never really flew into nerd-rage over it's ultimate conclusion as a "series", mass effect is a game that emphasizes it's finale all throughout the 100+ hours you spend with it... every decision you make, supposedly, influences how the game will end.

also, if you're really that far out of the loop:

- half life 2/orange box

i've stayed away from Plus cos the whole "don't get to keep the games" thing, but looking at it as a rental service this new addition makes it seem kinda interesting? all depends on what games they have, but according to their blog games are going to be rotated every couple of months and their will be 45 of them in the first year. hmmmm.

i never return to games after a year of purchase anyway? 75 bucks for an array of games to try yearly is good math. Again though: the hard drive issue is serious! And I have a 120 gig model. Is it easy to set up a terabyte drive via usb to help with space on this? The download install time on those games has gotta be like a day apiece.

supposedly once you download something you can play it as long as you have a subscription, and if you are running out of space you can delete them & redownload at a later date? slowly warming to this idea tbh. glad i don't have a bandwidth cap tho, can see that being a huge problem for people.

so apparently you can't use an external to store games but it's pretty easy to put a 500 gig/1 tb drive directly onto the ps3? If that's so, this is amazingly good news and i don't mind paying for netflix instant gaming style

good thing ps+ instadownloads/installs this stuff if you set it to.

hi! hello! what is the general opinion here on YAKUZA 4? (or 3?)

I LOVE them. I haven't completed Yakuza 4 yet though. They're really fun - the plots are ridiculous by not terrible, and the writing contains actual jokes that are funny. The combat is decent. There isn't too much pointless wandering around (the random battles get a bit annoying). BUY THESE GAMES, THEY ARE BRILLIANT.

Anyone looking at Skullgirls?

Its tournament presence died. I hear there's a patch coming that will change a lot -- easier timing, shorter combos.

dyad kinda isn't that good. the controls just aren't there. the game penalizes mistakes heavily so feeling like the controls screwed me rather than my own ineptitude is frustrating.

this is after two weeks of spelunky obsession--and that game a) is hard as fuck b) controls perfectly so c) fuckups always feel like one's own fuckups
