Oh man, heavy sales still going on. Might buy FIFA 12, too.

Can anybody suggest a good tycoon/econ sim along the likes of what Kairosoft does? I like building and running this little system of something in a phone. SimCity is too clunky.

xpost

How about Kairosoft's own Oh! Edo Towns or Mega Mall Story?

polyphonic, Monday, 20 February 2012 18:53 (fourteen years ago)

Have any of y'all played Hero Academy? It's pretty cool.

I buy all Kairosoft games the minute I see them on the app store, so I've already beaten those.

chocolate tycoon is supposed to be good but I don't like how it looks.

Any old-school hex-grid, turn-based war games out there? Digging up info on the Avalon Hill Starship Troopers game made me feel nostalgic.

Stockhausen's Ekranoplan Quartet (Elvis Telecom), Monday, 20 February 2012 22:01 (fourteen years ago)

^seconding this request. A hex game would totally hit the spot

tmi but (Z S), Monday, 20 February 2012 22:08 (fourteen years ago)

You guys might like Greed Corp. It is hex based but with a twist.

polyphonic, Monday, 20 February 2012 22:09 (fourteen years ago)

Oh but it might be ipad only, not sure.

polyphonic, Monday, 20 February 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

I still play Strategery a bunch, a kinda old, very stripped down hexy Risk-ish war game.

Euler, Monday, 20 February 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)

Steam's offering GreedCorp to me on a PC game list.

Also unknown as Zora (Surfing At Work), Monday, 20 February 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)

For me Greed Corp is a little too fancy and maybe too cartoony. But it appears to be a fairly deep and interesting game. I played through the training mode and was like "hmm, cool, back to Skyrim."

polyphonic, Monday, 20 February 2012 22:16 (fourteen years ago)

Man, I have zero desire for an iPad except to play games on it

tmi but (Z S), Monday, 20 February 2012 22:18 (fourteen years ago)

Ironically my iPad goes everywhere with me and I can't find a game I'm interested in.

It's free.

Big Little War Game is pretty simple compared to AH/SPI fare, and has been described as the iOS version of Advance Wars for the Game Boy. I like it, but will reserve my love for a whomever ports the Combat Mission tactical WWII PC games are ported.

polyphonic, Monday, 20 February 2012 23:21 (fourteen years ago)

how was it as an irl card game anyway?

the jeremy lin of YANIV (cozen), Monday, 20 February 2012 23:23 (fourteen years ago)

Very very fun. It moves quickly, and unlike rummy there is that moment when you think you won but it turns out you didn't. Getting assaffed is fucking brutal.

this looks promising (it's called Great Little War Game, though, in case someone tries to search for it and can't find it)!

tmi but (Z S), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 00:28 (fourteen years ago)

i tried it a few months ago and immediately found it disagreeable

A Little Princess btw (s1ocki), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 00:34 (fourteen years ago)

did you like Advance Wars?

windup knight and fairway solitaire are both total blasts and free to try.
both are puzzle games though they don't appear to be.

i loved fairway solitaire

Mordy, Thursday, 23 February 2012 21:48 (fourteen years ago)

Monsters Ate My Condo is ruining my life. I got 1,635,117,527 on my first game and haven't come close since.

"renegade" gnome (remy bean), Thursday, 23 February 2012 23:07 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I did a billion plus once and never again. I think I'm just trying to be too cute with my combos. I just need to let go and let it come to me.

Jeff, Thursday, 23 February 2012 23:26 (fourteen years ago)

i really liked fairway solitaire on the PC but man those last courses pissed me off so much i never wanted to touch it again. did they fix this in the iphone version?

btw for some reason slap downs don't work or something? anyone else having this problem? in single player I mean

catbus otm (gbx), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:54 (fourteen years ago)

do u have upgraded version

A Little Princess btw (s1ocki), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:57 (fourteen years ago)

pro? yes

catbus otm (gbx), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:59 (fourteen years ago)

also, how come sometimes hitting 50/100 reduces your score back to 0/50, but sometimes it doesn't?

Mordy, Friday, 24 February 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)

I was wondering the same thing! I even cagily copped a 150 on purpose after seeing a comp opponent get -50 from that and was hella confused when my gambit didn't work

catbus otm (gbx), Friday, 24 February 2012 15:03 (fourteen years ago)

weird i've only ever see it do it!

A Little Princess btw (s1ocki), Friday, 24 February 2012 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

yeah like how would you get one on purpose? you can't arrange to have the right score in yr hand when someone YANIVs.

ledge, Friday, 24 February 2012 16:10 (fourteen years ago)

Ok so I read the rules and it's 100 and 200 in single player and 50/100 online. No idea why I thought 150 would work

xp u totally can dogg
