hory shit

google sluething so hard right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 November 2011 16:19 (fourteen years ago)

(flying school was very hard)

another aspect i miss, that didn't appear in gtaiv, i know some people hated this shit (and personally pizza deliveries mission was waaaay too long and boring) but it would be nice if they had been included in IV at least changed to remain interesting. Vigilante was good though, but there was no reward for completing it, wtf?

in fact, there was no reward for finding all the hidden pigeons, and no reward for 100% completion either. How about some infinite ammo you sucks?

and the stadium missions too, fucking loved that kiststart type mission from VC and SA. All the great races they had in VC, and hidden checkpoint races. non existent in IV.

and Rampages (although they only appeared in SA for two players, technically still existed) wtf did they go?

VC Stories had a feature that enabled you to see all your collected-so-far hidden packages (red balloons) and jumps completed, on the map. would be nice to see this again.

Road stingers should return, they were a barrel of laffs

Does anyone on ilx play Mult-Theft-Auto, the multiplayer modification for San Andreas? It's pretty awesome, and has undergone a lot of updates since it's initial construction many years ago. I mainly play the SKC races server, some of the car mods they have are pretty amazing.

Summer Slam! (Ste), Friday, 4 November 2011 10:07 (fourteen years ago)

kickstart missions definitely missed from iv.

ceci n'est pas un nom d'affichage (ledge), Friday, 4 November 2011 10:09 (fourteen years ago)

races in IV pretty much sucked overall, you could lap all the computer cars even on your first attempt at a race. terrible.

Summer Slam! (Ste), Friday, 4 November 2011 10:11 (fourteen years ago)

there was multiplayer for that kinda thing i suppose. although npc drivers don't behave like arrogant entitled prepubescent homophobic little shits.

gutted that it's not GTA Yorkshire. Still hope for Red Riding Redemption though.

sometimes all it takes is a healthy dose of continental indiepop (tomofthenest), Friday, 4 November 2011 10:53 (fourteen years ago)

GTA Ambleside - wasn't that a Half Man Half Biscuit album?

LOL, I stopped playing GTAIV at that race mission (the first one if there are multiple missions) because I'm so shitty at them. I tried two or three times and just gave up.

i managed to get IV working, but not Liberty Stories.

looks pretty good on pc, except for the water reflections. I keep seeing reflections of trees and car doors that don't exist lol.

calstars, Thursday, 8 November 2012 20:09 (thirteen years ago)

so multi-character rumor was right. wonder just how much it's incorporated and how it will affect feel of the game. looks fantastic predictably, also some diversity in terrain thankfully - san andreas was my fave and that sprawling aspect was a big reason why.

balls, Thursday, 8 November 2012 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

Really hope hackers get around that saving-online thing. That sound horrible.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 9 November 2012 17:04 (thirteen years ago)

Oh, that was in GTA4 and was because of Games For Windows Live. Which is now dead, I think. Seriously doubt they'll let the same issue into GTA5.

JimD, Friday, 9 November 2012 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

Yes! Planes are back! Also, yoga! Golf! Jet-skiing! Tennis! Base-jumping! Scuba-diving!

GTA: SA was my favorite, perhaps my favorite game of all time, and the main thing i liked about it was the sheer number of different things you could do. Sounds like they are trying to bring that feeling back, and i can't wait.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 9 November 2012 17:36 (thirteen years ago)

rockstar's comments on the size of the game makes me wonder if the commutes will be realistic as well

johnathan lee riche$ (mayor jingleberries), Friday, 9 November 2012 17:44 (thirteen years ago)

Kind of a pisser that even with three man characters Rockstar couldn't make even one of them a woman :(

bizarro gazzara, Friday, 9 November 2012 17:46 (thirteen years ago)

Er, that should read 'main' rather than 'man' obv...

bizarro gazzara, Friday, 9 November 2012 17:46 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, i was thinking about that too. Why not?

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 9 November 2012 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

I'd be interested to hear from Rockstar on it. The argument we've heard a million times before is that female protagonists don't sell but if one of the biggest franchises in gaming can't make one of three player characters a woman then things are even more fucked than they appear.

bizarro gazzara, Friday, 9 November 2012 17:52 (thirteen years ago)

Mind you, given their track record with female characters in GTA games maybe we're better off without a playable misogynist caricature....

Q. There are people who still aren’t delighted by the treatment of women in your games.

A. Of course. But is their argument that in a game about gangsters and thugs and street life, there are prostitutes and strippers — that that is inappropriate? I don’t think we revel in the mistreatment of women at all. I just think in the world we’re representing, in Grand Theft Auto, that it’s appropriate.

So Houser's explicitly saying here that, in the world they're presenting, they're willing to make a huge effort to create the unusual and nuanced (for videogames, anyway) lead character of Niko Bellic but utterly unwilling to do anything to present women as anything other than sex objects in supporting roles? What a shithead.

bizarro gazzara, Saturday, 10 November 2012 07:32 (thirteen years ago)

I hope this 'switching' between characters in missions isn't a crucial element to completing a mission, I really don't want to do that. I don't mind switching characters when I'm in free roam however.

Those ATV pics are sweet!

These are my every day balloons (Ste), Saturday, 10 November 2012 10:31 (thirteen years ago)

and a full playable golf course !! I was actually pleased to hear them state that it was better hire coders to write mini games that are fun, rather then ones that are 'half assed'. A nice confession there to some of the dreadful waste of time mini games some of their games feature.

These are my every day balloons (Ste), Saturday, 10 November 2012 14:19 (thirteen years ago)

is there a golfing minigame in Gay Tony? i am half-remembering one...

Ryan's taint is definitely unavoidable. (stevie), Saturday, 10 November 2012 14:34 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, it was terrible
