I think it is true but I'm not sure what timezone.

emil.y, Monday, 26 September 2011 00:53 (fourteen years ago)

The test was short and now it's done, but come back Monday for even more fun!

their time zone is always PST and yeah I think it's tomorrow afternoon.

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Monday, 26 September 2011 01:06 (fourteen years ago)

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Monday, 26 September 2011 20:44 (fourteen years ago)

woo. just started on meditation 1 to get to teleportation bc while i don't care a huge amount about teleportation, i do want the one jump point so i can set it for that locked door cave in the caverns with all the sparkly rocks.

Mordy, Monday, 26 September 2011 20:59 (fourteen years ago)

you gotta go all the way to TP IV for that :( as i did in the previous tests

Nhex, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:12 (fourteen years ago)

so i got a cubimel box from the rube and now i'm trying to figure out whether to open it or sell it :/ what do u guys think?

Mordy, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:49 (fourteen years ago)

i have never found the rube

remy bean, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:52 (fourteen years ago)

I got one from the rube and sold it, because I'm trying to go for a 10k house first up.

emil.y, Monday, 26 September 2011 22:18 (fourteen years ago)

i got the rube once, i don't remember what i ended up getting but i enjoyed the moans of jealousy from nearby players.

FLAWLESS STANCE, ATHLETIC BEAST, WINNER'S POSTURE (reddening), Monday, 26 September 2011 22:23 (fourteen years ago)

i am playing this now!

i have no idea what i am doing but it is so fun! and somehow every interaction i have with another player is a positive one, what's up with that.

civilisation and its discotheques (c sharp major), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 08:18 (fourteen years ago)

launched!

Mordy, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 17:02 (fourteen years ago)

with an app!

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 18:34 (fourteen years ago)

so this is open to the general public now, huh?

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 18:36 (fourteen years ago)

ps my name on this is xee, it would be nice to have some friends!

civilisation and its discotheques (c sharp major), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 18:51 (fourteen years ago)

I have friended you - you should join the Poxy Fule group, though it is rather quiet.

emil.y, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

just got in, my name is Scare Quotes

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:11 (fourteen years ago)

How do I join the ILX group? I am "Space Tiles" (game tricked me into unsightly capital letters by putting them on all its example names).

(not on right now but will doubtless be on again at some point this evening)

the ascent of nyan (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:14 (fourteen years ago)

I can't find you in the player search, n/a. I'm Cindy Electronium if you want to befriend me.

The group should show up on my profile, maybe?

emil.y, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:15 (fourteen years ago)

I'm Randolph.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:17 (fourteen years ago)

I haven't tried it, but on the Account page it claims you can change your name for 100 monies (hopefully they mean in-game monies and not the for-cash credits).

I'm Doctor Barf

remy bean, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:19 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe someone would be willing to compile all the names of ilxors and post them in an easy to read list like they sometimes do on the xbox 360 threads?

Mordy, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:29 (fourteen years ago)

I'm Sunset Swirl

FLAWLESS STANCE, ATHLETIC BEAST, WINNER'S POSTURE (reddening), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

it's all i am

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

I don't have time to play this, so instead I'm just learning skills even though I haven't used the prerequisite skills yet.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 20:19 (fourteen years ago)

I've just found the leaderboards and apparently I am the 49th most travelled glitch. And just outside the top 50 for achievements. I really need to stop playing so much.

emil.y, Thursday, 29 September 2011 03:06 (fourteen years ago)

I'm 91st most travelled. 102nd most achievements and 130rd bigger supporter of Tii somehow.

Mordy, Thursday, 29 September 2011 03:19 (fourteen years ago)

still deciding if i love it tbh, it's not really tearing me away from Football Manager yet

Dios mio! This kid is FUN to hit! (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 29 September 2011 06:46 (fourteen years ago)

spent a lot of glitch time squeezing chickens for their grain yesterday, and then a friend rang me up and asked me if i could look after his actual irl bantams on the weekend.

slightly worried that if i keep playing the game someone will ring me up and ask me to do some mining for them.

civilisation and its discotheques (c sharp major), Thursday, 29 September 2011 07:41 (fourteen years ago)

i've got my character wearing a party dress and sandals, and i'm always amused when i set her to mining or smelting something. it's all so wonderfully clean! i wonder if we're going to find out at some point that we've been polluting the fuck out of the giants' brains.

i got the rube again today! i love the song that plays when he shows up, i feel like a kid hearing the ice cream truck.

FLAWLESS STANCE, ATHLETIC BEAST, WINNER'S POSTURE (reddening), Thursday, 29 September 2011 08:35 (fourteen years ago)

new skills!

loads of personality, loved to chase chickens (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda got myself stuck re better learning. my learn times are so long for everything, including better learning, that i'm loathe to waste time doing better learning when it will take so long itself to learn. but now mining V is going to take like 9 days and probably 11-12 by the time i do it.

Mordy, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

also, snapshotting is ridiculous. my glitch already has that skill. it's command+shift+4.

Mordy, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

i am an hour away from finishing BL5, and I'm really glad. next up is teleportation

remy bean, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

I made the mistake of not doing the higher-level Better Learnings until too late. Now I'm stuck on waiting a week for BLV. I think it'll be worth it in the end but it sucks not having any new quests.

emil.y, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

i am grbchv! by the way

(╯°□°)╯︵ ya, (╯°□°)╯︵ ya for real (gbx), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda feel like (probably wrongly) that there's no point to doing BL at this point at all and I should just do all the other skills instead. esp since as far as my brain works, 9 days for a skill and 12 days for a skill might as well be the same amount of time.

Mordy, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

I think with the way you're penalised for every new skill once you're past a certain point, BLV is worth it. Plus if they keep adding extra skills it may well be more like the difference between 9 days and three weeks by the end.

emil.y, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

i guess i could take the next month off the game or whatever and just run through the BL skills. these new penalties are a little frustrating and i know they're designed to - i guess - prolong enjoyment of the game. but they seem to have miscalculated bc instead of enjoyment being parceled out over a longer period of time instead now you get a lot of skills early and then less and less the more you play until eventually you're waiting a week between skills. it would be much better to have them all take X amount of time and leave them like that. as it's currently designed ppl are going to become less interested the longer they play. (i may have over-explained that, but i'm not totally sure how to articulate what seems to me to be a fundamental design flaw)

Mordy, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

God, I'm starting to get to skills that take two days. Can't imagine there are skills that take a week.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

I kind of agree with you. I suppose it's a classic RPG bind: as you level and get skills, things are supposed to get easier. Yet to keep the player interested there has to be a challenge, so other things get harder. However, I'm not sure that extending skill learning times has the effect of an increased challenge, rather than an artificial obstacle. Having said that, though, I wouldn't mind so much if they hadn't taken out almost all of the non-skill related quests. I know it's not meant to be just a questing game, but without *any* of that motivation, I will get bored.

emil.y, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

(That was to Mordy, by the way)

emil.y, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:32 (fourteen years ago)

I made the mistake of not doing the higher-level Better Learnings until too late. Now I'm stuck on waiting a week for BLV.

Yeah, me too. Apparently they stop skills 20-30 incurring cumulative time penalties, which is too bad since I didn't get my first emblem of Lem to spend until I'd learned 40 (no idea how it got so high, the skill table still looks at least half unlearnt). Regretting my decision not to learn Mining: the giants do like their mining donations.

Meanwhile, Glitch got quite the savaging on RPS and I have to admit that even though I like the game I agree with bits of it.

I'm just glitched out atm, I guess, and everything feels a bit grindy to no real reward. Plus the screenshots reminded me how weird and pretty Ix and Uralia seemed the first time I went through and was charmed by Helga and the dancing crabs, and how the new areas are kind of dull and interchangeable in comparison, and got to feeling slightly bummed that apparently the designers would rather add yet more swampy areas and grey trees-on-crags areas with exactly the same wildlife and shops as the rest of the world instead of the quirky colourful stuff I had thought was the selling point. Oh well.

how do i shot slime mould voltron form (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:35 (fourteen years ago)

I am still enjoying the game and want to play it right now, and it bugs me that it takes so long to learn new skills. But that has the side effect of not allowing me to WOW out and forget to eat and stuff like that.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

There’s a quest early on in the game where you have to go to a bureaucratic office filled with lizards obsessed with paperwork in order to fill out identity papers. To do this, I shit you not, you have to stand in line and wait to be seen. Just stand there, don’t press any controls and wait while yet another fucking progress bar fills up before the lizards call you forth. I don’t know if the developers think this sort of bullshit is funny, or maybe it’s supposed an ironic commentary on something like the sheer inanity of their game design, but it speaks of a sadistic intent that borders on the perverse.

That bullshit WAS funny. This dude is a moron.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, if he doesn't get that (or the kafka reference) he's missing much of the point of the game.

loads of personality, loved to chase chickens (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:48 (fourteen years ago)

There’s a storyline that takes place in The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman, the third part of the Dark Materials trilogy...

Almost stopped reading at this point...

polyphonic, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 20:50 (fourteen years ago)

I read that RPS review, but the reviewer lost any and all credibility with me for not getting the hell and bureaucratic lizard jokes.
