Any idea if any of the games are worth getting? I enjoy turn-based strategy games but haven't heard anything about Frozen Synapsis.

Frozen Synapse is a very good game that I am terrible at.

it's basically a quasi-turn-based strategy game except that instead of issuing commands to your units, you're creating a full tactical sequence - i.e. you draw out the path you want them to take (it's not grid-based btw) & build in waypoints for specific tactical actions ("walk", "aim this way", "take cover", etc) rather than just choose "attack", "defend", and so on. I say "quasi" because your turn occurs simultaneously with your opponent's, so you're designing tactics which have to play out in real time.

it's a really good game! I like it a whole bunch even though I am unrelentingly shitty at it.

frozen synapse looks like the type of game that is quite. good. at. turning me on, so i might have to shell out $.01 for the HB

Edge magazine gave it 9/10. I bought it on Steam but I haven't given it a real chance yet.

1101! I got in a very drunk conversation tonight with someone about RPM (btw this was somebody who gave no shits about rpm) saying that 33 1/3 was one thing but 33 + (33 + (3/3)) was 45 rpm WOW! I thought i thought of that myself. I bet all sorts of stoned music turds thought of that before.

But i wasn't gonna talk abt that until I saw that GOG was offering a thing for 0? which is binary for 0? and my days on GOG were 1101? which is i guess bin->dec for 13? or dec-> bin for 10001001101? which ends in 1101? numbers are the best. I should drink & ILE instead of ILGing probs.

bought Dungeon Siege III tonight. Twas half-off and an Obsidian game and the one chick is hott and the other chick has pistolas, so i figured, why not.

SpaceChem got added to the Frozen Synapse indie bundle, so now you can have two games I don't understand how to play instead of just one.

Just noticed that Pirate Puzzles is now available for free (for Mac + PC) on Steam. Get it!

Also, I don't think it's on sale, but Binding of Isaac is one of the best games I've played this year. Highly recommended if you like zelda roguelikes w/ twisted aesthetics

Bought Amnesia, prenumbra, Gemini rue, LFD2, the remastered Holmes vs Cthulhu, and whatever else. I still need to beat Costume Quest.

i would say that i currently own on multiple platforms, conservatively, 100 games that i would like to play.

Gonna get the Breath of Death / Cthulu Saves the World for $2. Limbo on Steam is $7.50. Convinced a friend to get the L4D 1+2 pack for $10.19. Borderlands GOTY on sale again for a measly $7.50. Tempted to get the Indie Royale pack just for Gemini Rue (already have Sanctum).

Costume Quest is on sale on Xbox right now- I gather it's worth it?

whew, finally got the hardest shiny trinket in the game. so hard, but so much fun.

yeah, that's the hardest one by far

i finished all of the trinkets today. not sure if i'm going to bother w/ all the time runs and like beating the game w/out dying once...

yeahhh no way i'm gonna do that, the game kicked my ass enough. still, an easy recommendation, and the chiptunes were sooooo good

might also get that Ghostbusters game from last year (not the downloadable game that came out more recently)... $2.50 on Steam, but no multiplayer in the PC version

VVVVVV is so damn great, the 3rd humble indie bundle as a whole was really fine, tho now I'm badly stuck halfway through Braid and that annoys the hell out of me :<

Steam sale had me buy Bioshock, as I still haven't played it yet; kinda considering L4D2 - is it worth it?

L4D2 is absolutely worth it, great game. If you haven't played any L4D, I'd recommend getting the bundle w/1 and 2, though 2 definitely has all the gameplay improvements and some of the maps from part 1. You should try to get at least one friend you know you can play it with, or good tolerance for playing with randoms, as there isn't really any single player besides running through the campaigns with bots as your partners.

The reason I still recommend part 1, despite half the maps being imported into L4D2, is that I think they may have added too many choices to part 2, in terms of the number of special zombie types, items, weapons, and so on - the first one had a more pure arcade simplicity to it. Also I prefer the characters in the first game as well. But the second game definitely has better maps and gameplay modes, generally. I'm not a fan of versus, but that's easily much better in the second game, too.
