it's live again, and now they have an app that allows you to set a new skill to learn via yr phone/tooch. i feel like such a dork for getting excited over this.

great time to use this too:

couldn't get the FF version to work, but the Chrome one works like a charm

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 12:17 (fourteen years ago)

hm, mine don't work

remy bean, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 12:19 (fourteen years ago)

remember you have to reload the "Home" page after installing the extension

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 13:32 (fourteen years ago)

so now that we're back, what are you guys planning on doing? do you have an idea of how you're going to hit the skill progressions this time?

Mordy, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 15:48 (fourteen years ago)

I'm going to go mining/alchemy much earlier on than I did before

the tax avocado (DJP), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

also not going to waste any time on teleporting until I have the useful skills

the tax avocado (DJP), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

i figured i'd start animal harvesting skills right away, move into cooking which will be a breeze bc i'll now have super easy ways to get tons of ingredients, and then try out other skills (like alchemy/mining) that i didn't really get to before

Mordy, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

i think i will start by really meaning to get back into this and then never bothering

guh (jjjusten), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I regret that I didn't quite manage to try out alchemy or engineering or whatever last time, because I have no idea whether they're worth doing this time round or not. Will probably just play it safe and do things in much the same order as last time tbh.

I also regret that it didn't open yesterday (UK time) when I was on leave and as such I haven't been on since reset yet. Looking forward to getting home and glitching.

the ascent of nyan (a passing spacecadet), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

So the beta period is over, and this is the game game?

polyphonic, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

I think this is another beta round?

the tax avocado (DJP), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

But once the game is ready, beta testers will keep their stats?

polyphonic, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

yes, no more resets

going for mining/animal harvesting earlier this time too, i also made the mistake of going into the teleport/meditiation/piety trees last go around

alchemy tree is worth it because a) you should already be doing mining for the money and b) shrine powder is both awesome for donations and straight up selling for cash

OTOH, i know i have to get gardening and in there somewhere

also, did Better Learning I and II, probably gonna try to do the BL tree first, if i can afford it (mostly getting the emblem for III)

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

gardening/cooking also kinda essential though...

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 17:52 (fourteen years ago)

Cooking essential to doing other stuff. Can someone give me the run down on mining/alchemy?

Mordy, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

mining is a straight line, and you need Element Handling, Refining, Smelting, then Alchemy, Admixing/Intermed. Admixing (you can skip Alchemy II) to make powders

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 19:02 (fourteen years ago)

If I don't want to be a cooking specialist, how far along into the cooking tree should I go before I stop?

polyphonic, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 19:06 (fourteen years ago)

What do you do w/ powders tho? (Besides donate them obv)

Mordy, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 19:13 (fourteen years ago)

shrine powder doubles the value of your donation. extremely hallowed shrine powder TRIPLES it

there's some other stuff like fertilidust (grows trees up a level), sneezing powder, sparkly powder, fecundity is nice, but they're more valuable as you're transfering your mineral assets to elements to powders (to money/donation)

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 20:34 (fourteen years ago)

oh wait, that might not be true

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 20:36 (fourteen years ago)

man not liking the new shrine xp donation limit (only 500 favor per day, then no xp for donations)

Nhex, Thursday, 22 September 2011 02:59 (fourteen years ago)

WAHT

what's the point of the shrine powders, then???

the tax avocado (DJP), Thursday, 22 September 2011 14:10 (fourteen years ago)

Test ending in 3 hours already? I am a lucky person and only worked 2 days this week. What were the 2 days that glitch was running for? Fehhh. Though I suppose soon it won't turn off, ever, in theory.

(haven't had much time on since reset, kind of sucks the energy out going back to not having tools or ingredients or teleportation or a house, but on the other hand before the reset I was running out of things to do that I was actually interested in doing. Still, can't complain, it is cute and fun and free and I still intend to chuck them a few quid, I guess)

the ascent of nyan (a passing spacecadet), Thursday, 22 September 2011 19:22 (fourteen years ago)

I'm glad I quit when I did bc I started playing when the test came back up and I'm already up to new material that I didn't hit the first time through

Mordy, Thursday, 22 September 2011 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

half-hour more before closing, time to queue up that 15-hour refining skill...

FLAWLESS STANCE, ATHLETIC BEAST, WINNER'S POSTURE (reddening), Thursday, 22 September 2011 22:24 (fourteen years ago)

how are you that far along already?

remy bean, Thursday, 22 September 2011 22:25 (fourteen years ago)

i ended up getting 2 cubimals from the rube which helped me a lot... i think i got about 14 skills in the 4 days

Nhex, Thursday, 22 September 2011 23:12 (fourteen years ago)

quick poll: of those of you who subscribed, which option did you go with?

Nhex, Thursday, 22 September 2011 23:12 (fourteen years ago)

i didn't do any mining before the reset, but everyone said that's where the money is, so i've focused mostly on that skill tree. i've still got a whole bunch of basic skills that i haven't bothered with yet.

i also ended up buying a house pretty early into the new test cycle, and found i could make a nice trickle of money auctioning off "your papers" to people who didn't want to bother learning the bureaucracy skill.

FLAWLESS STANCE, ATHLETIC BEAST, WINNER'S POSTURE (reddening), Friday, 23 September 2011 00:59 (fourteen years ago)

i went for the midrange subscription option

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Friday, 23 September 2011 05:05 (fourteen years ago)

what are subscriber only options and customizations? do i have to buy credits on top of a subscription to take advantage of this?

Mordy, Friday, 23 September 2011 17:53 (fourteen years ago)

not really being sucked into this yet, but i'm just popping in and out to see if it'll click

Dios mio! This kid is FUN to hit! (Noodle Vague), Friday, 23 September 2011 17:53 (fourteen years ago)

also, are the only things to spend credits on wardrobe + vanity stuff? cause i'd love to throw this game some money but i really don't care about playing dress-up with my glitch at all.

Mordy, Friday, 23 September 2011 17:54 (fourteen years ago)

subscriber options are that you get credits primarily so yeah it's mostly vanity
but you also get a ton of transportation tokens, which makes life WAY easier for the first few months of the game
and you also get vouchers to vote on game content.
They're going to ask the community to guide what sort of content they roll out and subscribers get multiple votes.
but mostly i'm just giving them cash because i feel like i've definitely gotten sixty bucks worth of enjoyment out of this already.

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Friday, 23 September 2011 19:17 (fourteen years ago)

not a bad way of looking at it forks. i think i've definitely gotten $30 worth of enjoyment out of it, but I don't know if I would really spend an extra $20-30 on credits ever... kinda torn, but i guess i'm leaning towards option B for the silliness of being able to try a new outfit on every month

mordy, if you want to spend less, you could just toss 'em some money for credits and then transfer those to TP tokens (which you'll probably use at some point)

Nhex, Saturday, 24 September 2011 01:12 (fourteen years ago)

so i had read somewhere that this thing was reopening monday -- a) anyone know if that's true? and b) if it is, does it open PST at midnight?

Mordy, Monday, 26 September 2011 00:41 (fourteen years ago)

I think it is true but I'm not sure what timezone.

emil.y, Monday, 26 September 2011 00:53 (fourteen years ago)

The test was short and now it's done, but come back Monday for even more fun!

their time zone is always PST and yeah I think it's tomorrow afternoon.

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Monday, 26 September 2011 01:06 (fourteen years ago)

argh. well at least it'll be back on when i'm done w/ work.

Mordy, Monday, 26 September 2011 01:08 (fourteen years ago)

they usually reopen between 12 noon and 2pm PST

Nhex, Monday, 26 September 2011 04:24 (fourteen years ago)

OPEN

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Monday, 26 September 2011 20:44 (fourteen years ago)

woo. just started on meditation 1 to get to teleportation bc while i don't care a huge amount about teleportation, i do want the one jump point so i can set it for that locked door cave in the caverns with all the sparkly rocks.

Mordy, Monday, 26 September 2011 20:59 (fourteen years ago)

you gotta go all the way to TP IV for that :( as i did in the previous tests

Nhex, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:12 (fourteen years ago)

so i got a cubimel box from the rube and now i'm trying to figure out whether to open it or sell it :/ what do u guys think?

Mordy, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:49 (fourteen years ago)

i have never found the rube

remy bean, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:52 (fourteen years ago)

I got one from the rube and sold it, because I'm trying to go for a 10k house first up.

emil.y, Monday, 26 September 2011 22:18 (fourteen years ago)
