i don't have any gifts in the acct atm, but come thanksgiving and christmas.... well remember that scene towards the end of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? when Christopher Lloyd's eyes started buggin' out? HE LOOKED JUST LIKE THIS

...especially if they make good on what seems to be the promise of being able to store extra copies of previously bought games as gifts, then trade them, because i've often gotten several games multiple times due to bundle sales. As it is, it's pretty uncommon to get that extra gift copy from when buying something again

recent purchases:

- Terraria's half off for Midweek Madness so I took the plunge. so far I don't like it.
- picked up the Commander Keen pack for $3.50 during the Quakecon sale - haven't played it yet since I'm waiting on my gamepad to show up
- decided to pick up Dungeons of Dreadmor right before going to bed, so I haven't played it yet. everything I see or read about it makes it look like exactly the roguelike I'm looking for, though.

also speaking of roguelikes, until last night I didn't know C&P 2010 standout Desktop Dungeons is getting an actual for-money sequel/revamp! apparently it's going to be sold through Steam too. RPS says it's pretty good too.

if you want to enjoy Terraria more, i suggest checking out quartertothree's game diary of it which made the game much more engaging to me. one of the things i think it suffers from is that it's not immediately obvious what there is to do-- but the game diary really outlines a fun path through the game. if u already bought it, worth a try before just deleting it

Mordy, Wednesday, 10 August 2011 17:07 (fourteen years ago)

Dungeon of Dreadmor is AWESOME.

Bastion is so good.

Mordy, Friday, 12 August 2011 15:31 (fourteen years ago)

Broken Sword trilogy $3.39 on steam. The first two games are well worth it.

Aaaaand Bastion's out.

Blind Diode Jefferson (kingfish), Tuesday, 16 August 2011 17:41 (fourteen years ago)

^and only four more months before it's 50% off!

Nhex, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe, but $15 seems a fair price.

New humble bundle: http://www.humblebundle.com/

Any idea if any of the games are worth getting? I enjoy turn-based strategy games but haven't heard anything about Frozen Synapsis.

Mordy, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

Frozen Synapse is a very good game that I am terrible at.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 17:36 (fourteen years ago)

describe it a little? i'm curious...

Mordy, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

It's a turn-based tactics game, with vector graphics.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

it's basically a quasi-turn-based strategy game except that instead of issuing commands to your units, you're creating a full tactical sequence - i.e. you draw out the path you want them to take (it's not grid-based btw) & build in waypoints for specific tactical actions ("walk", "aim this way", "take cover", etc) rather than just choose "attack", "defend", and so on. I say "quasi" because your turn occurs simultaneously with your opponent's, so you're designing tactics which have to play out in real time.

it's a really good game! I like it a whole bunch even though I am unrelentingly shitty at it.

punk rock hyrax (jamescobo), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

frozen synapse looks like the type of game that is quite. good. at. turning me on, so i might have to shell out $.01 for the HB

Edge magazine gave it 9/10. I bought it on Steam but I haven't given it a real chance yet.

anorange (abanana), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 19:01 (fourteen years ago)

Too soon! I've still not even tried half the games from their last bundle yet.

JimD, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

^what i was just thinking

Dudley Daigle: Tugboat Captain (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 20:28 (fourteen years ago)

we have definitely discussed this at greater length elsewhere but frozen synapse is awesome

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 29 September 2011 02:58 (fourteen years ago)

I got it. Once I can tear myself away from Glitch I'll try it.

Mordy, Thursday, 29 September 2011 03:01 (fourteen years ago)

feel kinda like a chump now for having pre-ordered frozen synapse and played it for... 2 hours? but it's good stuff.

Nhex, Friday, 30 September 2011 05:33 (fourteen years ago)

Broken Sword 1 is free on GOG

A bad bwai who joined GOG.com 1101 days ago

1101! I got in a very drunk conversation tonight with someone about RPM (btw this was somebody who gave no shits about rpm) saying that 33 1/3 was one thing but 33 + (33 + (3/3)) was 45 rpm WOW! I thought i thought of that myself. I bet all sorts of stoned music turds thought of that before.

But i wasn't gonna talk abt that until I saw that GOG was offering a thing for 0? which is binary for 0? and my days on GOG were 1101? which is i guess bin->dec for 13? or dec-> bin for 10001001101? which ends in 1101? numbers are the best. I should drink & ILE instead of ILGing probs.

bought Dungeon Siege III tonight. Twas half-off and an Obsidian game and the one chick is hott and the other chick has pistolas, so i figured, why not.

Blind Diode Jefferson (kingfish), Sunday, 2 October 2011 05:18 (fourteen years ago)

SpaceChem got added to the Frozen Synapse indie bundle, so now you can have two games I don't understand how to play instead of just one.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 5 October 2011 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

i'm so excited about all the games i have on steam that i don't know anything about

crayon physics???

Mordy, Wednesday, 5 October 2011 18:28 (fourteen years ago)

crayon physics is pretty fun for a bit.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 5 October 2011 18:51 (fourteen years ago)

well, now i feel like a total chump for buying both Frozen Synapse and Space Chem and having played them for like, 3 hours each

they're both pretty awesome, but mannn

Nhex, Wednesday, 5 October 2011 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

Just noticed that Pirate Puzzles is now available for free (for Mac + PC) on Steam. Get it!

Mordy, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 13:48 (fourteen years ago)

Also, I don't think it's on sale, but Binding of Isaac is one of the best games I've played this year. Highly recommended if you like zelda roguelikes w/ twisted aesthetics
