What is this Xbox party thing? What does it mean???
― Mordy, Saturday, 13 December 2008 14:11 (seventeen years ago)
it's for "hanging out"; it's so you don't need to listen to all the racism and nonsense on xbl
― czn (cozwn), Saturday, 13 December 2008 14:12 (seventeen years ago)
ah. cool.
― Mordy, Saturday, 13 December 2008 14:13 (seventeen years ago)
more specifically, what's cool about it is that you can start a chat, and have it going while you play multi with friends. I don't know if there's a way to just talk to your friends in the party while you play, while not talking to the others in the game. That would be good, though.
― Euler, Saturday, 13 December 2008 16:43 (seventeen years ago)
you mean like if 8 of you are in a party and you join a game of cod4 but get split up, and you only want to talk to the people on yr team in the party? no way to do that unfortunately : /
― czn (cozwn), Saturday, 13 December 2008 17:17 (seventeen years ago)
yeah that's what I'd like, too bad
― Euler, Saturday, 13 December 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

RE: Ikaruga.... "For every hour of playing your amount of continues will go up to a maximum of 9 continues/6 hours. After 7 hours, you'll have unlimited continues."
The furthest I've gotten on 1CC is to the midpoint of level 3 or so. Would love to 1CC the game someday, but don't think I'll ever have enough time to put into it to learn all that and pull it off. If you guys need help, watching the replay videos that you can download off the leaderboards so you can actually watch how people 1CC the game is extremely useful & mind-blowing.
― Jeff LeVine, Saturday, 20 December 2008 16:56 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, a friend who's good at it came over a while ago, and I haven't actually touched it since seeing him play. Realising how much work goes into getting anywhere just killed my interest, tbh.

Anyone want to play some Madden 09 with me this wonderful NFL morning?
― Mordy, Sunday, 11 January 2009 13:48 (seventeen years ago)
I would love to but I only have madden 08 (and even that doesn't work!)
are we going to get some l4d on the go at some point dudezzz?
― cozwn, Sunday, 11 January 2009 13:55 (seventeen years ago)
I would love to, unfortunately tho the person i was going to borrow the game from has lost it. so i may have to buy it myself sadface.
― Mordy, Sunday, 11 January 2009 14:01 (seventeen years ago)
ack would play but only have Madden 08 too. I only played it once on xbla and thought I would suck it up but the other player dropped out thus leaving my record a perfect 1-0.
― Euler, Sunday, 11 January 2009 14:29 (seventeen years ago)
I would totally play you if my system wasn't in Missouri.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:36 (seventeen years ago)
I am totally up4left4dead. How about tonight? I can drop in from, say, 11pm GMT onwards?
― JimD, Monday, 12 January 2009 11:41 (seventeen years ago)
I totally would. But still no copy.
― Mordy, Monday, 12 January 2009 11:43 (seventeen years ago)
You can borrow mine!
Oh, hold on...
― JimD, Monday, 12 January 2009 12:09 (seventeen years ago)
Earlier this week I received an email that said "Your console is repaired and being shipped". Today I finally received the shipment... of my hard drive. :(
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 23 January 2009 18:14 (seventeen years ago)
wait - why did you send in your hard drive? You're supposed to remove it b4 inserting the 360 into the coffin...
― Jeff LeVine, Friday, 23 January 2009 19:15 (seventeen years ago)
I was unclear about that!
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 23 January 2009 19:36 (seventeen years ago)
rrod guys :(
it's not the full ring though - it goes 3/4 of the way round, am I clutching at straws? It certainly didn't boot up after 3 tries this morning (typically just when I needed it to keep the boy quiet). It id it last night when I opened the disc draw, but a re-boot got it back.
so not impressed, only got it in September or so.
― problem chimp (Porkpie), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 05:29 (seventeen years ago)
3/4 IS rrod, isn't it?
― torn between two borads, feelin' like a stan (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 06:18 (seventeen years ago)
3/4 is RRoD
2/4 is over-heating
sorry, chris! : ( I've had two RRoDs now, but I'm still a 360 apologist
RIP PORKPIE'S XBOX

― CLAPSOCK (John Justen), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 06:44 (seventeen years ago)
i's a bit early to break out a 40 for the box, so mega-strong coffee it'll have to be.
If I was working I wouldn't mind so much :(
― problem chimp (Porkpie), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 06:56 (seventeen years ago)

i's a bit early to break out a 40 for the box
I'm not sure I get you here but are you saying you have to pay for the box to ship your xbox back? At least in the US MSFT sends you a box free if you ask. It took a few days. But my recent rrod only took 2 weeks from original night of doom until happy return.
I'm moving to Europe this summer and kinda worried that my xbox will rrod while I'm over there and that it'll suddenly be tricky to get it fixed since it's an American model, but I guess I should only worry about that if...when it happens.

I finally bought Bully and now just want time to play it! Someone said on the Fable 2 thread that Bully was to GTA as Fable 2 is to Oblivion. I'm enjoying Fable 2 a ton and have had my struggles with GTA so I am PUMPED about Bully; plus I love school.
― Euler, Wednesday, 28 January 2009 13:39 (seventeen years ago)
wow, just had my worst xbox live experience yet
was playing some dude on ranked SF2HDR with deejay and he was beating me comfortably 2-0 (mostly because I was playing and responding to e-mails at the same time). so I perfected him by trapping him in a crossup loop that he didn't seem to know how to deal with, then almost perfected him again, in the third round when I crossed him up twice in a row, he quit!
I messaged him "the problem is you don't have any rhythm" :D
he sent me a voice message (in french) which definitely mentioned "merde" and "motherfucker"
he then proceeded to spam me with "invites to chat" for the next 31 minutes; apparently there's a glitch where you can hammer the a-button on the invite and it will just send out tonnes of them and you can't "block communications" from a private chat invite
looooooooooooool
his GT is "stonehenge XIII" in case you ever come across him
― cozwn, Wednesday, 28 January 2009 15:46 (seventeen years ago)
Can someone explain here how you would go about returning a rrod 360? Like, just in case?

You have to request a repair on the xbox website. Then they will either send you a box or tell you to go get one yourself. I had to go get one myself, but they sent me a printable UPS label, and I brought the box to UPS and they shipped it for free. I just had to pay for a box and some bubble wrap.
If they tell you that you have to pay to have it repaired, I suggest calling and talking to someone, which worked for me even though my "1-year warranty" had expired. You do not need your receipt, just the serial number on the box.
Also, they have several steps that they ask you to do (check to see if the power supply is working, etc.) before they'll initiate a repair.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 17:13 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, Bully was a very pleasant, easy gaming experience. When I bought Skate the other day there was a kid in front of me in line with Bully, and I was thinking "wise choice, my young friend." He was probably thinking "WHO IS THIS OLD DOUCHE BEHIND ME IN LINE".
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 17:15 (seventeen years ago)
Bully was a very pleasant, easy gaming experience.
Yeah, this sounds great to me. I appreciate the idea of a gaming gauntlet, proving you're hardcore and awesome at gaming (I put that I beat Rygar on NES on my CV (not really)), but ultimately I just want to have fun.
MSFT didn't ask me any questions about power supply or whatever when mine had rrod. I just went to the website, chose the "three red rings" option, and that was it. I didn't even have to enter anything about the warranty, just the serial number (which is on the back of the xbox too, not just on the box).
