Really? After trying most of the big names (Assassin's Creed, Mirror's Edge, Chaos Rings, etc) I'd have to say Inf Blade is, IMO, the most well-developed and maybe even best "video game" for iOS
― plax (ico ico) (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 3 March 2011 16:40 (fifteen years ago)
What about the other one? Aralon?
― Crazed Mister Handy (kingfish), Friday, 4 March 2011 00:35 (fifteen years ago)
I hate the controls, I hate the setup, and the technology is only impressive since it's on my phone. fuck a Infinity Blade IMO.
(my pick for best proper iOS video game is probably the iOS NBA Jam, which is shockingly well-done)

TOO MUCH TINY WINGS

getting to island 5 with no fever was annoying enough, getting to island 4 with no perfects is going to make me cry
when I decide to do it
tomorrow
how the hell do you get on island 5 with no fever
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 4 March 2011 08:54 (fifteen years ago)
Too bugged to be playable, even now. I got about 8 hours in then something happened which meant every chest was empty...including the ones that contained quest items. So that was a complete game breaker, and I couldn't face a restart.
― JimD, Friday, 4 March 2011 10:24 (fifteen years ago)
easy, you fuck up on purpose.
i got to island 8 and suddenly had no desire to play this game again ever.
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Friday, 4 March 2011 12:40 (fifteen years ago)
No, the easiest way is to just hug the ground all the way through. Let up on the gravity a bit in the valleys to build up momentum, but then hug the ground as you crest so you get no air.
You can go surprisingly fast this way!
― Z S, Friday, 4 March 2011 14:12 (fifteen years ago)
that's actually how i started playing it at the beginning, when i didn't know what fever was or perfect slides etc.
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Friday, 4 March 2011 14:29 (fifteen years ago)
Still cant get to island 8. This is because of a moral failing.
― Jeff, Friday, 4 March 2011 15:16 (fifteen years ago)
I just keep playing for the pretty colors.
― Jeff, Friday, 4 March 2011 15:26 (fifteen years ago)
Actually could anyone explain fever mode to me? Just two perfect slides in a row?
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 4 March 2011 15:57 (fifteen years ago)
three.
― ledge, Friday, 4 March 2011 16:01 (fifteen years ago)
Finally. 8th island. Still need 175k though.
― Jeff, Sunday, 6 March 2011 00:14 (fifteen years ago)
Darkness was right on my ass.
― Jeff, Sunday, 6 March 2011 00:15 (fifteen years ago)
been playing this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcwTetw-Oco
Which is an interesting spin on a tower defense game, to have all the Three Kingdoms/Dynasty Warriors guys as cute little cartoons beating the shit out of each other
― Crazed Mister Handy (kingfish), Sunday, 6 March 2011 22:13 (fifteen years ago)
Dungeon Raid is the best.
― reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Monday, 7 March 2011 03:24 (fifteen years ago)
just hit 250k/island 9 on tiny wings, will probably never play again as I probably won't be able to come anywhere close to that.
― I DIED, Monday, 7 March 2011 04:53 (fifteen years ago)
Nice! I will never even get to island 8, I think.

Dungeon Hunter 2 99c today only.
Any good?
― groovypanda, Saturday, 12 March 2011 11:22 (fifteen years ago)
Pretty much ready to give up on Tiny Wings bcz trying to get 34sec in fever mode is impossible and pointlessly frustrating.
― mink della reese (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 March 2011 04:02 (fifteen years ago)
Sword & Sworcery is really nice. Not challenging at all, but a ton of atmosphere. Very short though.
― reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Thursday, 24 March 2011 06:51 (fifteen years ago)
xp i'm glad i'm not the only one for whom this post
I get so pissed off if I can't hold fever through the first 3 islands.

is a complete mystery. (i did eventually crack the 34sec barrier though.)
― ledge, Thursday, 24 March 2011 09:28 (fifteen years ago)
I finally beat it last week and would like a new $1 addiction, please
― larry buttz (Z S), Thursday, 24 March 2011 11:45 (fifteen years ago)
I still haven't gotten 175k. Totally given up.
― Jeff, Thursday, 24 March 2011 11:58 (fifteen years ago)
This game lasted all of two hours on my iphone, precisely the sort of time-wasting nonsense I dont need around atm. btw I am posting this from my kindle for lolz.

Er, Angry Birds Rio is out.
― JimD, Thursday, 24 March 2011 12:12 (fifteen years ago)
Angry birds has lost me. I just gave up halfway through one of the seasons ones. Not sure why. It was just time.
― Jeff, Thursday, 24 March 2011 12:14 (fifteen years ago)
It could be that you're just not into the genre of flying bird gravity games as much as you used to be
― larry buttz (Z S), Thursday, 24 March 2011 12:17 (fifteen years ago)
I wish it'd fucking lose me. xp
― JimD, Thursday, 24 March 2011 12:17 (fifteen years ago)

Seconded (xp).
I've grabbed Secret of Mana. What's Song Summoner?
― JimD, Thursday, 24 March 2011 17:05 (fifteen years ago)
Question on all of these RPGs: how easy is it to "quicksave" or "quickload"? In other words, how quickly can I hop in and out of gameplay?
― larry buttz (Z S), Thursday, 24 March 2011 17:15 (fifteen years ago)
IIRC all of the ones I've played have been "save whenever the fuck you want" and not that horrible "keep playing, you'll probably find a save point in the next 45 minutes!!!!" types
― mink della reese (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 March 2011 17:17 (fifteen years ago)
amidst the RPG madness to which I am subscribing fully I wanna put in another word for Trainyard, which has become the perfect "bathroom" game for me (if you don't know, now you know): on the bonus boards now & they're tricky! but each has been ultimately doable so far after a few tries.
have there been any other good iOS puzzlers recently?
― Euler, Thursday, 24 March 2011 17:25 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I have hopes of maybe one day finding a game as fucking awesome as Trainyard. I've sort of given up on it though bcz a recent iOS update wiped out some of my progress and I refuse to re-do the levels.
― mink della reese (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 March 2011 17:51 (fifteen years ago)
huh, you know what, that free one on the above sale list, 'sliding hero'?..... actually kinda good
it's kind of an rts but then you also slide around your entire group of fighters and healers etc. by tilting the phone
and you're on these interesting looking isometric chessboard levels with monsters and dungeon-esque rooms
worth checking out if any of that intrigues you, i suppose
― sleepingbag, Friday, 25 March 2011 09:58 (fifteen years ago)
im thinkin about grabbing ff3 and secret of mana but do the controls etc work well on ipad?
― diamonddave85, Friday, 25 March 2011 14:43 (fifteen years ago)
Tiny birds update. New nest, island 6 is easier, game center support.
― Jeff, Friday, 25 March 2011 14:54 (fifteen years ago)
just when I thought I was out...
― Mordy, Friday, 25 March 2011 15:26 (fifteen years ago)
