I've been tossing around the idea of gearing up a PVP healer and doing rated BGs which I hear are a blast when done with the same team. My friend tells me that it's the closest a video game has gotten to organized sports. I can't decide between shaman and druid. I'd really prefer a priest, but my priest alt is stuck somewhere in Outland and I just don't think I have it in me to level through all that shit again.

The dungeon finder is so your friend re: Outland; it flew by on my druid and I didn't wasn't even wearing heirlooms.

BTW, my biggest heirloom-related lol comes from a former coworker who reused the cloth robe and shoulders he bought for his priest on his fury warrior. He even tanked some BC instances wearing them, as fury. He didn't know why people kept yelling at him.

lol that is hilarious.

great tip, too, I didn't think of the fact that as a healer the queues would probably be fairly quick, too, even for lower level dungeons.

rockapads, Friday, 11 February 2011 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

btw, I have heirloom gear for every armor class. how sad is that?

rockapads, Friday, 11 February 2011 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

once i figured out that 'dungeons' even existed, i started leveling hella fast. also i was pretty rich when i got to outland so i got a flying mount pretty much immediately, which makes soloing go a lot faster.

ullr saves (gbx), Friday, 11 February 2011 17:18 (fifteen years ago)

Dungeon queues seem quick anyway if you quest while waiting; I'm leveling as a boomkin and didn't start noticing exorbitantly long queue times until I hit WotLK.

btw I had the best group the other day; prot pally, resto shaman and THREE BOOMKINS. Most fun Nexus/Utgarde Keep runs EVER.

CAN YOU GULP ANY LOUDER PISS WOMAN (DJP), Friday, 11 February 2011 17:20 (fifteen years ago)

only way it could have been better would have been a bear tank and a resto druid

Five man druid runs are good. Bear, Cat, 2x boomkin and a tree.

three weeks pass...

I just reinstalled after being away from the game for about a year - wanted to see what Cataclysm is about. I'm not loving it. It kinda feels like the 'new' old world is missing a lot of connective tissue? All the new changes just feel underexplained and sudden to me - maybe they want you to read the books to get the full ~lore experience~ now. Of course, I never played any of the Lich King content*, so maybe that would've given it context. Also, all my old guildbros have left to play Rift, which I assume is the latest flavor of the month distraction - I'm sure they'll be back, but it's annoyyyying. The new talent changes seem to have not been well received by most of the community.

*I quit during the BC era, right before Black Temple rolled out, and bequeathed my 70 druid to a guildie, and when I came back some time after Lich King debuted I had to make a new account - and I got bored and quit again after a month or two, so I've missed all the high end content since BC

It's not awful but I'm finding it annoying. Like they've taken stuff that was fun in small doses in Wrath and pushed it way too far - linear questing, 'epic' plot lines w/ cinematics, tons of phasing. They did narrative well in Wrath; I think the praise led them astray.

I kinda agree with this. I played a Worgen for 15 levels just to see what the starting area would be like, and it felt like an assembly line to me. I didn't even find it particularly immersive.

ℳℴℯ ❤\(◕‿◕✿ (Princess TamTam), Saturday, 5 March 2011 07:17 (fifteen years ago)

my account expires in 2 days. I was having second thoughts about letting it expire since I started playing my mage a few days ago and found it fun, but I couldn't play for more than an hour tonight so yeah. Once I again, I bid WoW farewell. I think the thing that keeps sucking me back is that I keep remembering places as I would a real place, and feel the urge to go back. Good thing about Cataclysm is that they destroyed most of the old places so hopefully this time I'll just leave it be.

rockapads, Saturday, 5 March 2011 07:53 (fifteen years ago)

I hadn't played for 2 weeks until last night and i could easily skip another 2 weeks. Not having a regular raiding schedule makes it way easier for me to play something else for a while (hi dere Mass Effect, maybe I will finally finish you).

goth barbershop quartet (DJP), Saturday, 5 March 2011 15:18 (fifteen years ago)

This spooked me when it started happening to me. Thinking 'where was that long strand that I'm remembering, silvery grey sand, West of Ireland somewhere o shit I am thinking of Darkshore.'

Got my main to 85, then didn't renew my account: I've been out for a few weeks, no strong urge to go back in. I'll probably end up returning – finish Twilight Highlands, level some alts, see how the battlegrounds are - but I'm v indifferent right now.

portrait of velleity (woof), Saturday, 5 March 2011 16:44 (fifteen years ago)

fwiw I thought Cata was just ok in the end; not nearly as much fun as Wrath.

portrait of velleity (woof), Saturday, 5 March 2011 16:45 (fifteen years ago)

wait has it always been possible to fire and move at the same time, as a hunter?

ullr saves (gbx), Saturday, 5 March 2011 16:49 (fifteen years ago)

no they just enabled that in the last major patch

rockapads, Saturday, 5 March 2011 16:59 (fifteen years ago)

unless you're talking about Aspect of the Fox

rockapads, Saturday, 5 March 2011 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

ah.

i just started a new horde hunter (just to see the horde side of things tbh) and was amazed that he could run and shoot at the same time

ullr saves (gbx), Saturday, 5 March 2011 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

They've really improved the hunter class in Cata imo. If I was going to get back into raiding, I would probably would have done so with my hunter.

rockapads, Saturday, 5 March 2011 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

I'm thinking I will leave WoW forever as soon as The Old Republic comes out

ℳℴℯ ❤\(◕‿◕✿ (Princess TamTam), Saturday, 5 March 2011 18:16 (fifteen years ago)

I've stopped raiding since cata came out. I played most of Wrath as a resto drood, but have found healing really, really difficult since the changes. Spending time much about with alts and doing battlegrounds instead, but not putting anything like the hours in that I used to.

after playing more Cata i've turned around on it a little bit; in my post up there I was playing on an Ally server briefly but now I'm back where I belong (horde) and I think the new old world Horde content is a lot better. the new silverpine questline is amazing and so is the goblin starting area (my problem with the goblin & worgen areas is that there appears to be no room for variation if you play them more than once). i like the new quest distribution, where you just get a few at a time, but it's jarring when you hit BC again and each zone has 30 quests for you to pick up at once - BC is completely untouched

new skill/talent system sucks and makes it easier for me to understand why people are leaving en masse for Rift... i'm tempted to try it out myself since all my old guildies are consumed by it and as a result nobody can get raids together anymore.

cum dude (Princess TamTam), Monday, 11 April 2011 19:25 (fifteen years ago)

I got about halfway through the goblin quest line and it's pretty excellent; certainly less angsty than the worgen quest line (although I love my wolfman druid)

on the one hand: yes absolutely lol
on the other hand: ...why am I considering renewing my subscription so I can play WoW: Kung Fu Panda

do not wake the dragon (DJP), Monday, 24 October 2011 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

the monk class sounds pretty dope, though; interested in seeing how that plays out, esp as a healing class

do not wake the dragon (DJP), Monday, 24 October 2011 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

realized with horror the other day that i forgot to cancel my subscription and have been paying for it despite not playing for 6mos

i love pinfold cricket (gbx), Monday, 24 October 2011 15:58 (fourteen years ago)

I was paying 6 mos at a time so mine actually just ran out... 2 days ago?

do not wake the dragon (DJP), Monday, 24 October 2011 16:01 (fourteen years ago)

and also tbh just read about the new talent system and i think it sounds way better---as someone who only played casually and had neither the time nor the inclination to research the "right" way to build a given character, it's nice that they've streamlined that process

(basically, since a lot of players with a given class/specialization were learning identical talent trees, because that was the "best way" to play that class/spec, they shifted most of those talents over to abilities that you automatically learn as you progress through the game as that class/spec. what's left over are talents that are more about personal playing style. seeing as how i got chewed out for not playing my own character "correctly" in a couple dungeons, it'd be nice to have some of that taken out of my hands. but maybe the nerds will be pissed about this training wheels approach, w/e)

i love pinfold cricket (gbx), Monday, 24 October 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

why am i talking about this like i'm actually going to start playing again, sweet god

i love pinfold cricket (gbx), Monday, 24 October 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

A friend of mine used to fill his rogue's bags with bandages and play him in dungeons as if he was a healer. Obviously this was before vote-kicking.

do not wake the dragon (DJP), Monday, 24 October 2011 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

haha. i always wished rogue's had a spec to become dps/healers (it wouldn't be hard to do either! just give ability to increase range of bandages and decrease the cooldown and you're there!)
