why no, i wasn't planning to get any work done today

re: corporation inc., by the way, as far as i can tell the only difference in modes is that you have less money. it's also pretty trivial to work out an ideal play strategy after, like, one attempt. also happiness doesn't actually do anything, as far as i can tell. i was really hoping someone would reach 0% happy and drive out of a window.

thomp, Wednesday, 24 November 2010 13:20 (fifteen years ago)

Played Desktop Dungeons a few months back, it's cool but the lack of depth stopped me getting hooked.

Ravacious Fortune (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 24 November 2010 13:21 (fifteen years ago)

My friend made a game for everyone to enjoy - WASD controls, press F1 to read the manifesto

i played DD a while back too - not amazing, but excellent roguelike genre entry. i really liked the design of it

Isle of Tune - not really a game but a cute little browser sequencer program thing that looks like a game! isleoftune.com

After spending some time "playing" Isle of Tune (nice!) and then listening to Autechre's Move of Ten, I am kinda o_O.

Digital: A Love Story is -- so far -- amazing. It's too bad I only just found out about it cause I would have absolutely voted for it in Coint + Plick.

Mordy, Tuesday, 28 December 2010 01:10 (fifteen years ago)

wow, that was beautiful

Mordy, Tuesday, 28 December 2010 01:53 (fifteen years ago)

it's more aligned with IF or hypertexts than 'games' but really gorgeous and moving

Mordy, Tuesday, 28 December 2010 01:53 (fifteen years ago)

Braid has now been dethroned as the most earnestly sentimental platformer ever
http://jayisgames.com/cgdc9/?gameID=11

i heard there are different endings depending on what time of day you play it

Nhex, Sunday, 2 January 2011 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

def. gonna check out roulette later

Nhex, Sunday, 2 January 2011 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

Agree with mordy re: digital. Truly brilliant game.

Is very IF'y or hypertexty but far more gamey than just a clicky visual novel. Also has an amiga workbench style OS which is great.

toastmodernist, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 11:59 (fifteen years ago)

i thought it was great, and an incredible nostalgia trip back into those BBS days, but man the actual "gameplay" got really tedious in the last half - which is why i spent 6 months between doing the first 30 minutes and the last 30 minutes. still, more importantly a really great little thing, very pretty in places, probably in my top 10 of the year

Nhex, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 13:23 (fifteen years ago)

been playin this for days http://www.kongregate.com/games/DogmaDZ/nom-nom-adventures

moullet, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 20:50 (fifteen years ago)

Just finished Digital. I didn't find the ending as affecting, but the whole thing was very well done. I think everything after the twist made it seem much less real, but the initial sequence of messages with *Emilia was painfully spot on.

"i spent 6 months between doing the first 30 minutes and the last 30 minutes"

Does this mean the whole thing takes about an hour or am I assuming too much?

JimD, Saturday, 8 January 2011 11:51 (fifteen years ago)

takes about an hour.

once again, somehow adult swim is on the forefront of experimental games

Nhex, Saturday, 19 March 2011 14:42 (fifteen years ago)

(that game is great)

Nhex, Saturday, 19 March 2011 14:42 (fifteen years ago)

The levels are limited to six sides of a box, so it never gets super-'throw-the-controller-at-the-wall'-frustrating. It does my head in, but in a totally enjoyable way.

a murder rap to keep ya dancin, with a crime record like Keith Chegwin (snoball), Saturday, 19 March 2011 14:47 (fifteen years ago)

that game is very good

Man, that took forever for to discover -- and I'd actually almost figured out a way to beat that level without shooting the brains.

Somewhere, a WoW addict just emerged from a 36-hour poopsocking fest and read that, and shed a lonely tear

Z S, Tuesday, 5 April 2011 12:20 (fifteen years ago)
