two PS3 film streaming services have launched in the UK in the last week, Mubi and Lovefilm. you wait years for one to come and then....
― zappi, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 13:49 (fifteen years ago)
Would like to know how many films I could stream a month on the 'light use' (5.99) lovefilm package; lovefilm won't tell me unless I actually sign up.
― xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 13:54 (fifteen years ago)
I think its 2 hours per month....
Its weird as love-film don't let you use credits for streaming, I would forgo DVDs + blu-rays entirely if I could just have 3 films per month streamed but they don't do it that way.
― my opinionation (Hamildan), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:04 (fifteen years ago)
2 hours are you serious?? why don't they just call it "one movie"
― irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:04 (fifteen years ago)
omg that is ridic. it seems they haven't separated it from their dvd package so you pays your 5.99 and gets 3 discs a months plus 2 hours streaming. fucking useless. cunts.
― xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:12 (fifteen years ago)
(xp i guess that's what you said already more or less)
― xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:14 (fifteen years ago)
its unlimited on the 9.99 package tholovefilm interface is a little clunky & theres too much loading screen stuff, could be cos its just launched thoughmubi interface is beautiful
― zappi, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:48 (fifteen years ago)
what happens if you want to watch one movie longer that 2 hours i.e. pretty much any movie released in the last ten years
― cozen, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 17:11 (fifteen years ago)
Satc 2 FAIL
― irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 17:15 (fifteen years ago)
why can't i get a net-only package?? gah
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 11 November 2010 11:24 (fifteen years ago)
gotta say Mubi looks very promising
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 11 November 2010 11:30 (fifteen years ago)
- movie rentals - £3 per movie, you can play it as many times as you want for seven days
- all you can eat for £10 a month
- selected free films. the first one will be an online premiere of Revolución
- here is their recently added movies page:
http://mubi.com/films?view_format=expanded&viewable=1&sort=recently_added
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 11 November 2010 11:36 (fifteen years ago)
Gorgeous interface too, as mentioned above.
― nate woolls, Thursday, 11 November 2010 11:42 (fifteen years ago)
you can have a net-only all you can eat package from lovefilm @ £10 a month, just don't put anything in your queue
― zappi, Thursday, 11 November 2010 12:04 (fifteen years ago)
Anybody have an opinion on Catan for PSN?
― antexit, Thursday, 11 November 2010 12:36 (fifteen years ago)
Not interested in all-you-can-eat actually, since I don't watch movies at home enough to justify it - doing one-offs sounds perfect to me
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 11 November 2010 13:04 (fifteen years ago)
also who EATS movies these days

it's pretty good but the lack of widespread mic penetration among PSN users makes it less fun than the 360 version. really though I just wish a decent version (by which I mean one w/ asynchronous online multiplayer) would come out for iPhone/iPad.
― "Anus Landlord": A little rough, but good. (jamescobo), Thursday, 11 November 2010 17:06 (fifteen years ago)
i got some widespread penetration for you right here
― irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Thursday, 11 November 2010 18:54 (fifteen years ago)
I walk away from this conversation with the impression that 360 owners stick microphones up their asses

― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 13 November 2010 15:39 (fifteen years ago)
signed up for lovefilm but kinda disappointed with the amount of new stuff on there, e.g. only 4 out of the top 20 of the ile films of the 00s. is netflix any better or is that just what film streaming is like in this fucking day and age?
― xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Sunday, 14 November 2010 22:53 (fifteen years ago)
Netflix is great in the U.S. but I've heard it stinks in Canada so far.
― macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Monday, 15 November 2010 07:26 (fifteen years ago)
No it's good and getting better!

PAC-MAN CE FINALLY FUCKING COMING TO PSN NEXT WEEK THANK YOU LORD. for some reason my share group isn't interested in it, though for a game this great I will happily pay full price this once.

you would think at least the ILG Britishes would be jumping at the chance to get access to all the stuff on the US store (and for 1/5th of the price!)

i think i just ain't committed to gaming enough atm for it to be worthwhile.
― xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Saturday, 20 November 2010 01:02 (fifteen years ago)
for it to be worthwhile to get free games for about 5 seconds of effort?
― shirley summistake (s1ocki), Saturday, 20 November 2010 15:54 (fifteen years ago)
so is this jailbreak thing completely patched and no longer useful for playing backups? seen a few ps3 torrents around but thought it was all fixed up in 2 days
― NI, Saturday, 20 November 2010 16:30 (fifteen years ago)
So my boy bought a 3rd party controller for his PS3 the other week and the fucker just wouldn't recognise it. He swapped it for a second one, same problem. I read on the net that the latest firmware upgrade has disabled a lot of 3rd party software, is that right? And why hasn't anybody burned down Sony HQ if so?

"3rd party hardware" I meant.

"free" is an overstatement; gamesharing lets you get PSN stuff for 1/5th of the price (i.e. Steam sale rates). for instance, on my current share group I'm paying $7 total for Pac-Man CE DX, Spelunker (sadly not Spelunky), and Dead Nation.
― "Anus Landlord": A little rough, but good. (jamescobo), Wednesday, 24 November 2010 17:49 (fifteen years ago)
Can everyone in the group play these games at the same time?
