think small

whiney trollins vs. hipsters (dayo), Sunday, 7 November 2010 13:34 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i worked it out just after posting - magic of ilx iirc

嬰ハ長調 (c sharp major), Sunday, 7 November 2010 13:48 (fifteen years ago)

fruit ninja or whatever is fun

koyaani (s1ocki), Sunday, 7 November 2010 22:38 (fifteen years ago)

sounds...fruity

whiney trollins vs. hipsters (dayo), Monday, 8 November 2010 00:00 (fifteen years ago)

I've just got 3 or 4 levels left on Trainyard. Really enjoyed the game although the last couple of Cities have been more about trial & error rather than logical reasoning.

groovypanda, Monday, 8 November 2010 09:02 (fifteen years ago)

i'm kinda feeling like i'm almost obliged to get an ipod touch just so i can get on board with the other major platform i'm ignorant of.
What are the key games for iphone/touch?

a pun based on a popular ilx meme (forksclovetofu), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)

according to ilx:

drop7
9 innings

BIG MUFFIN (gbx), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

drop7

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

haha

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

gotta say that trainyards lack of randomness (v drop6's capricious distribution of unwanted 4s) has been a nice change of pace. solving a puzzle makes me feel smart, getting a high d7 score makes me feel lucky

BIG MUFFIN (gbx), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:09 (fifteen years ago)

can anyone seriously recommend getting a touch as a gaming platform? is it worth the cash in the same way as a ds?

a pun based on a popular ilx meme (forksclovetofu), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:11 (fifteen years ago)

i would get an ipad instead tbh

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:12 (fifteen years ago)

shits is expensive yo

a pun based on a popular ilx meme (forksclovetofu), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:23 (fifteen years ago)

srsl tho, either way, if u really need to be up on whatever's going on in gaming, touch gaming really feels like a new thing, even with the DS' stylus going on.

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:24 (fifteen years ago)

i feel like the fact that most iphone games are like $1-5, you can't really lose over the long run

whiney trollins vs. hipsters (dayo), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:33 (fifteen years ago)

really hopeful for the prospects of amazing puzzle games on touch platforms tbh. esp ones that involve building constructs to solve problems.

anyone played eliss on iPad? I love it, conceptually, but I think you must need the real estate of an ipad to make full use of the multitouch (which is central to the gameplay after a certain point)

BIG MUFFIN (gbx), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:36 (fifteen years ago)

it looks like it's a game about impregnating an ovum

whiney trollins vs. hipsters (dayo), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:43 (fifteen years ago)

which makes sense because "eliss" sounds like the brand name for a contraceptive pill

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:45 (fifteen years ago)

i kinda liked the demo but haven't 'splashed out' on the full thing.

xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:47 (fifteen years ago)

re. portability the touch is a great platform esp. compared to the clunky DS but as a "thing" in gaming...actually from what I know of you forks this is right up your alley since it's like indie gaming city for super cheap, & I get the impression there are lots of gems being missed.

Hey if any of u sons of bitches are playing words with friends and want to remind me how dumb I am, I'm on there.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 01:38 (fifteen years ago)

User jjjusten iirc, also I play the free version so if it takes me a while to respond I am probably learning about the fantastic features of some new scion automobile.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 01:40 (fifteen years ago)

whoa, I'll play you! I got it a few month ago, but I have no iFriends to play it with that I know of.

I'll find you later tonight, or maybe early tomorrow. I'm something stupid like Z25SZ5S2, I think.

Z S, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 02:04 (fifteen years ago)

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

so the bonus levels on trainyard are way more challenging than the regular ones (this is a good thing).

I've got some mates who are game developers and one who's a journalist (edits Kill Screen magazine) and nearly all of them rave about the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad as a boundary pushing gaming platform.

There also definitely seems to be more & more larger games arriving on the platform too. Galaxy of Fire 2 for instance provides at least 10 hours of gameplay and much much more if you're happy to just explore the universe in between doing the main story missions

groovypanda, Friday, 12 November 2010 09:41 (fifteen years ago)

Do posts about iPad games go here or is there a separate thread for them?

phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Friday, 12 November 2010 14:24 (fifteen years ago)

hm. maybe the kind of thing i invest in when my ipod dies.

forksclovetofu, Friday, 12 November 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)

Jenny I would like to hear about yr iPad games

swagl (dayo), Friday, 12 November 2010 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

OK! I have been playing Puzzle Quest in the iPad and that is pretty much the perfect platform for that game. Spider is better on the iPad, too, although I find it to be kind of boring. I could be missing something.

phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Friday, 12 November 2010 16:36 (fifteen years ago)

And Galaxy of Fire 2 looks like it will be awesome for the iPad. As soon as they release an HD version, I'm all over it.

phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Friday, 12 November 2010 16:37 (fifteen years ago)

I refuse to play a game on my iPad unless it's in HD =\

swagl (dayo), Friday, 12 November 2010 16:49 (fifteen years ago)

Definitely. Trying to play non-optimized games on the iPad is depressing. Puzzle Quest looks better on the iPad than it did on the DS. Easier to play, too, but I always has trouble w/ the stylus bc I type all day for a living and am always on the verge of a tendinitis aggravation.

phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Friday, 12 November 2010 16:53 (fifteen years ago)

Chopper 2 is HD on iPad and pretty well put together. You can use a touch or iPhone as a Bluetooth/wifi controller and hook the iPad up to a tv. Osmos is also HD and very relaxing. Though, paraphrasing someone upthread, it plays like you're fertilizing an egg. DoDonPachiR isn't HD but plays better on iPad. Mind, it's full-on Japanese style, seizure inducing awesomeness.

shaane, Friday, 12 November 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

puzzle quest on iphone is ass

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Friday, 12 November 2010 22:40 (fifteen years ago)

^^^ massive ultra uber-ass. it really is awesome on iPad though.

"Anus Landlord": A little rough, but good. (jamescobo), Saturday, 13 November 2010 00:41 (fifteen years ago)

I keep trying to decide if it is worth it for me to get a Touch (or an iPad?) so I can play iPhone games. I really don't want the phone part of the iPhone, but I'm jealous of all the games I know I would love to be playing.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 16 November 2010 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

Puzzle Quest/IPhone gets insanely boring somewhere around the halfway mark.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Wednesday, 17 November 2010 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

Yo guys, Assassin's Creed for iPhone is 99c right now and seems pretty fun so far!!
