two weeks pass...

MASSIVE drop of new films, mostly oldies. The Apple!

Muscus ex Craneo Humano (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 16 September 2010 23:16 (thirteen years ago) link

and RAPE SQUAD aka Acts of Vengeance:
"When apathetic cops fail to arrest the hockey mask-wearing attacker who made her sing "Jingle Bells" while raping her, seriously angry Linda (Jo Ann Harris) forms a team of fellow victims who learn karate and set out to exact revenge."
Looks unwatchable!

like dumb as hell and kinda o_O wrt to racism/sexism/youpickitism but WOW

Gerard Depardeauxnt (jjjusten), Thursday, 16 September 2010 23:25 (thirteen years ago) link

the Horsemen - terrible and watchable - like a grisly episode of law and order svu
the Horseman - made it through like 30 min, seemed totally pointless. :/

bnw, Thursday, 16 September 2010 23:29 (thirteen years ago) link

crank 2 was fun but so much more overtly racist than the first one it actually did kinda pull me out of it a little

Nhex, Thursday, 16 September 2010 23:48 (thirteen years ago) link

I Think We're Alone Now <- creepy and sad and short but not exploitative documentary about two very damaged souls (one an aspie, one a damaged hermaphrodite) that are obsessed with 80's pop singer Tiffany

Muscus ex Craneo Humano (forksclovetofu), Monday, 20 September 2010 06:41 (thirteen years ago) link

I just added that to my queue, looking forward to it

Cocaine: One Man's Seduction

wonderful made-for-TV drug movie starring Dennis Weaver as the aging real estate agent looking for an Edge, James Spader as The Son, and a manic scenery-snorting Jeffrey Tambor. the older drug buddy to James Woods' classic The Boost. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

thanks to whoever mentioned instantwatcher.com - site rocks

A bunch of seasons of BBC shows just put up that I've never seen:
A Bit of Fry and Laurie
The Catherine Tate Show
Gavin and Stacey
Hyperdrive
Waking the Dead

Can some Britishers let me know which of these is worth watching?

Also the first season of SAXONDALE with Coogan is up for instawatch and holy fuck that's good.

Lake Mungo looks interesting

Muscus ex Craneo Humano (forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 September 2010 16:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Gavin and Stacey very popular but also very everyday.
catherine tate funny in parts. actually, part. potentially interesting for doctor who fans.
Fry and Laurie probably the best of those, although i don't know how it's aged / travels.
i liked Hyperdrive but i was in a minority.

Fry & Laurie is pretty funny!

Almost a thousand new catalog films in the past week or so; if i were a kid i would just watch movies all day.
Recent TVadds: full runs of the new Battlestar Galactica (skip the last two seasons), Eureka, Psych, In Plain Sight, Monk, Parks and Rec and Damages (finally!)
Plus a LOT of anime (though not much that's got me excited) and scads of horror films and midnight movie stuff like Mondo Cane and Venus in Furs
Oh and don't miss Jules Dassin's The Law and Flaherty's Louisiana Story

Good updates but way too many green/Eco/sustainable/anti-gm food crap docs.

man I wish they would release Always Sunny to streaming. it's one of those shows I can be bothered to waste a DVD on, but would love to just be able to pop it in once in a while.

It's weird when those pop up, but I've been seeing those all year. Some are TV shows that didn't get a home release, or movies on out-of-print DVDs, where it's pretty nice to at least have an option to watch again.

Paranormal Activity, which I watched last night and was pretty solid up until a slightly botched ending, but it did wig me out at like three in the morning when I halfway woke up as my bedroom door slammed.

Watching Doctor Who: The Ark In Space == yay. I do wonder how Better off Ted and Nip/Tuck showed up in my recently watched when I'd never watched anything prior to Who.
