wtf is this drop7, looks like fucking Tetris w/ numbers; guess I could d/l the demo but Tetris is just stressful whereas when I game I am generally looking for ~peace~
such as provided by Strategery, my newest love (still only playing the demo but I'll probably gonna buy the real deal)

― brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:46 (fifteen years ago)
i had four loko for the first time the other night. drank two and it was probably a bad idea on a work night /derail
― trivial fursuit (diamonddave85), Thursday, 2 September 2010 18:58 (fifteen years ago)
Oh god I drink one over like an hour or two and I'm smashed. If I drank two I would black out. If I could even keep it down , it tastes like how I imagine a scented marker would
― don't hate the playa, hate the del carmen (Stevie D), Thursday, 2 September 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)
I thought the fed/state governments already groused enough about this to scare companies into taking caffeine/alcohol beverages off the market! At least Sparks got killed.
― mh, Thursday, 2 September 2010 19:25 (fifteen years ago)
yea i learned the hard way that 1 is the correct dosage for that drink, definitely a bit of blackout. i can understand the govt's concern
blue raspberry was disgusting, grape was a little better but not by much. i had sips of lemonade and fruit punch which tasted muuch better

you guys i had this horrible thought
what if the numbers inside the grey discs in drop7 are not predetermined? what if the game decides what they'll be at the moment they explode?
FUCK
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 11:26 (fifteen years ago)
This has worried me before. Sometimes when you form a long term plan that may end in disaster if the right numbers don't appear, the game seems to reward your gambit by giving you what you desire. Other times it seems to royally fuck you up with an unbreakable wall of 1s and 2s. Chances are it's just the old 'ipod shuffle isn't really random' phenom, the brain imposing patterns where there are none.
― ledge, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 11:31 (fifteen years ago)
what if they're watching us
― cathy: ACK-er (s1ocki), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 11:46 (fifteen years ago)
I equal parts love and loathe Drop 7, particularly for all those times when a gray disc needed to be anything but a 5 for ex, only to reveal itself a 5. Also, walls of 1s appearing are always horrible. But it is so addictive, that even though I get mad after having only 1s appear, I can't help but start a new game. Still can't get huge scores, my top one being around 550k.
― Jibe, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 12:58 (fifteen years ago)
Btw, looking at this thread, the games really recommanded were that, orbital, peggle. have and enjoy them all, but what are some other great games?
― Jibe, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 12:59 (fifteen years ago)
Drop7
― cathy: ACK-er (s1ocki), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 14:54 (fifteen years ago)
IMO the randomness is what makes it addicting. Like a slot machine
― cathy: ACK-er (s1ocki), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)
exactly! it's that rush of the fates suddenly smiling on you as you beat back the enemy against all odds.
i have never broken 500k in hardcore, though i have come very close. i agree that in the end, that final bit that will push you over the top all comes down to luck. because i am like a viper with that shit now. there is no error.
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 14:56 (fifteen years ago)
I agree its not all luck, else I wouldn't keep getting approx the same score all the time (around 250k). But to get the really big scores, luck does play a part, like by not giving you all ones on the top row.
― Jibe, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:07 (fifteen years ago)
And agree with you tracer that what makes the game so addictive is for those moments when fate smiles on you and every gray disk turns out to be exactly what you need.
― Jibe, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)
still only averaging 185k :( what are your secrets?
― Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile (dayo), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:19 (fifteen years ago)
secret 1: quit before game over if you're gonna get less than your current average score
― ledge, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:20 (fifteen years ago)
secret 2: build chains. easiest at the beginning, i try to get a column of 7s on one side, bunch of 6s across the bottom with a gap, then fill in the gap when the first grey disks appear. if you're lucky you can get >20,000 in one go, clear that row of disks, rinse and repeat.
― ledge, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:23 (fifteen years ago)
secret 3: work horizontally. don't carve out canyons.
― ledge, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:24 (fifteen years ago)
ah you're talking about normal mode. i remember those days.
- you can pit 1s and 2s against each other- sometimes you have to gamble- always, always whittle down the high areas
i still can't use 1s properly, i.e. i usually "waste" them when given them to use
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:30 (fifteen years ago)
while secret 3 is really the way forward to a good score, there is nothing more satisfying than dropping a 7 in a canyon only to see a great chain reaction take place.
― Jibe, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:30 (fifteen years ago)
i was talking about HARDCORE
― ledge, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:31 (fifteen years ago)
weirdly glad that i am not the only person who does this!
― no szigeti (c sharp major), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 15:57 (fifteen years ago)
ah ledge i misunderstood
still irritated by how many discs i "waste"
i'm sure i'd be better at this if i could visualize more than like one step ahead
― progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 16:03 (fifteen years ago)
Time to start a separate drop 7 thread????
I'm playing peggle again, the peggle nights add-on.
