Warner Bros.-based Legendary Pictures has picked up film rights to adapt the popular fantasy video game franchise World of Warcraft and will develop the project with game publisher Blizzard Entertainment, which is owned by Vivendi.
While the "Warcraft" franchise has been around for more than a decade, the most recent iteration, the megahit online title "World of Warcraft," has transformed the video game industry.
Unlike most games, where players pay $50 once and play until they're done, more than 6 million people around the world pay $14.99 per month to participate in the multiplayer game.
Legendary put up half the money for Warners' Batman Begins and the upcoming Superman Returns.

I guess I really need to start focusing on my lvl 60 as opposed to levelling alts; I still only have 4 pieces of the Valor set and my PVP rank has never been above Seargent. I think I'm more suited towards casters than melee classes, though, at least in parties. (Also my priest is just more fun to play.)
― Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)
Jeffrey only needs his gloves to complete his beaststalker set and is rank 7 in pvp now i think. I'm only at lvl 33 with my warlock so far, so such things are a long way off.
I'm more suited to casters to i believe. Although i love hunters most in solo play.

Currently my warrior is lvl 60 and languishing from neglect because I'm not really digging the endgame content/time commitment. My priest is 46 and my hunter is 29 and both are a buttload more fun to play.

I also wondered: can your character die or does it just level down? Can your character be attacked if your offline or do you just disappear?

Are workshops hard to find? Would there be a risk that when you're killed your attacker can grab your gear?
― Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 09:22 (nineteen years ago)
People can't loot your gear when you get killed like they could in other online games.
If by "workshops" you mean "someone to fix your gear", it's usually pretty easy; any NPC selling armor or weapons can also fix your gear, plus if you take the engineering profession you can eventually make a repair robot that can fix your gear for you.
― Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 10:28 (nineteen years ago)
Also the penalties only apply to death by monsters/the environment. If you're killed by other players, your armor is fine (though if it happens too often, there's a delay in resurrection). This is due to the dedicated PvP areas being a bit of a killathon, as you'd imagine.
