how do i get my 360 control pad to work on my pc. it just picks it up as a "xbox 360 control device via recharge unit" and doesn't actually allow you to see it as a game pad. ?

it may be in catamaran mode

Ste - what kind of controller? If it's wireless, you need the usb dongle thing...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000MGVAAQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1281797324&sr=8-1

plug that into your pc and sync the controller to the dongle.

If it's a wired controller, you should be able to just plug and play

Jeff LeVine, Saturday, 14 August 2010 14:50 (fifteen years ago)

it's a wireless controller, but i have a usb cable that it can plug into the xbox with for recharging. or is that not an option on the pc, do i have to get that specific dongle?
thanks

F-Unit (Ste), Saturday, 14 August 2010 15:35 (fifteen years ago)

right - you need the dongle - you can't just plug it in with a usb cable - sucks. Dongle sucks too... if you sync the controller to your PC, you have to re-sync it to your xbox and vice versa every time you want to use it with one or the other. As a wired 360 controller is only a few pounds more, I recommend getting that instead of a dongle as it's much more convenient and you will like not having to deal with recharging batteries.

Jeff LeVine, Saturday, 14 August 2010 16:25 (fifteen years ago)

thanks, that's pretty much what i've done - although opted for a non xbox type controller for five quid less.

i know i am sorta a UI change hater and all, but currently the thing thats bugging me the most about it is all the new sounds for selecting/moving through menus ets that sound very fake wii cutesy bleep bloop to me.

maybe theres a setting to turn them off, have not looked because i prefer to complain.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 4 November 2010 17:07 (fifteen years ago)

I would like to congratulate microsoft on its tricking america into buying this retarded kinect peripheral.

mayor jingleberries, Friday, 5 November 2010 16:49 (fifteen years ago)

I have been thinking about buying it. :(

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Friday, 5 November 2010 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

does it actually cost 90 english pounds: y/n?

will gompertz' hair (cozen), Friday, 5 November 2010 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

kinect is one of those things where if i won it in a contest i would be kinda ehhhh is there a cash option so yeah i will not be buying it.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Friday, 5 November 2010 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

It would be strictly a party thing. I can't see myself playing with it alone. I have non-gamer friends and could use something a little more accessible.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Friday, 5 November 2010 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

i play video games to sit on my ass and twiddle my fucking thumbs

anyone playing super meat boy?

SMB might deserve its own thread...just a brilliant little game. I've exhausted the Xbox demo and now I'm just waiting for the Steam version later this month (with Mr. Minecraft, dude from VVVVVV, Machinarium robot, etc).

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Sunday, 14 November 2010 16:11 (fifteen years ago)

really loving the snoopy dogfight game. the demo is killer.

Calumny (stevie), Sunday, 14 November 2010 17:30 (fifteen years ago)

i'm bored. can anyone recommend some new and decent arcade games? preferably some addictive action/puzzle/whatever with high scores

sonderangerbot, Friday, 19 November 2010 20:41 (fifteen years ago)

played limbo or costume quest yet?

old LOKO heads (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 November 2010 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

oh right limbo! forgot about that one. does it have high scores?

sonderangerbot, Friday, 19 November 2010 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

I keep ignoring limbo because buy braid once, shame on me, buy braid twice

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Friday, 19 November 2010 20:48 (fifteen years ago)

Limbo has no score

T-Rex's erotic imagination (Z S), Friday, 19 November 2010 20:48 (fifteen years ago)

limbo is to braid as Nosferatu is to Twilight
you should buy limbo.

old LOKO heads (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 November 2010 20:53 (fifteen years ago)

limbo is a puzzle game and once you beat it there's a number of funtime perfectionist/explorer achievements to get

old LOKO heads (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 November 2010 20:54 (fifteen years ago)

it's definitely a top ten 2010 game for me.

old LOKO heads (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 November 2010 20:54 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i'm on it. i recall liking the demo when it came out then it slipped my mind. though i also kinda liked braid so who am i to talk...

sonderangerbot, Friday, 19 November 2010 20:56 (fifteen years ago)

i liked braid too!
but limbo is totally different visually, emotionally, storywise, gameplay... they're both slightly precious, short, oddball, non-linear puzzlers; that's about all they have in common.

old LOKO heads (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 November 2010 21:00 (fifteen years ago)

really dug the demo but kinda resent buying dlc games these days :/

mo loko (cozen), Friday, 19 November 2010 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

why?

old LOKO heads (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 November 2010 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

why? i love it.

xp
