well i can wait if it'll come eventually, but i wonder if there's some kind of rights issue with the players association license and international sales

When will this game be released in other app stores around the world. I'm a big fan of the original game and I'm looking forward to playing the new version.

Zenonia. Skipped the first, playing the second now, not super impressed so far.

JimD, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:21 (fifteen years ago)

thumbs down on zenonia. poor controls. poorly translated dialogue.

bnw, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:51 (fifteen years ago)

zenonia can eat many dicks

I cannot stop playing 9 innings.

Mordy, Friday, 13 August 2010 05:13 (fifteen years ago)

TunesAttack: this was free and they've apparently already submitted an update to Apple to let them use the songs on your phone's hard drive so I'm waiting until all that happens to get into it. nothing special so far though.

this update went live. the game itself is kind of shitty and the song mapping seems really arbitrary but w/e, the price was right. totally worth it just to see how well the library integration works; whoever makes a good game out of this is going to be Doodle Jump dev rich.

also I want this rn plz (comes out next week but since when is the iphone about delaying gratification?)

i can't stop playing 9 innings either, even though it's the old version

however i'm being driven crazy with not knowing how "smart" the game is, so i wonder if half the game is in my head or what.. for instance, i'll throw a changeup that catches the outside corner for a strike. naturally my next move is to throw another change that's a little farther outside, trying to get the guy to bite. but does the CPU psychology really work that way? another example - i try to mix up pitch and location for each batter, i.e. never throw a first-pitch fastball to three batters in a row - they'll figure it out. but will they? how smart are they, actually?

i'm having a tough time in season mode - all my guys basically suck. (and with old 9 innings there are no cards to trade up to). i tear up the league in exhibition mode though.

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 August 2010 09:57 (fifteen years ago)

DoodleGods is my bitch. I've finished ep3 and now i want MOAR.

Mr Bungleow (Trayce), Friday, 13 August 2010 10:06 (fifteen years ago)

haha I think about that too xp. like i'll throw a fastball up and inside and then a change up in the exact same place and it'll "fool" the computer. so far I've managed 10 strikeouts in a game as my high (on hard) dunno if I could ever get to 15.

I do notice that there's like a 'streakiness' variable that gets activated, like sometimes I'll swing first on every pitch and everything will be a single or a double, and then other times my guys will miss like they're pissing into the toilet at night, it's weird

dyao, Friday, 13 August 2010 12:18 (fifteen years ago)

I completed doodle god and uninstalled not knowing that there would be more episodes. Now I don't want to have to redo every thing.

Jeff, Friday, 13 August 2010 13:13 (fifteen years ago)

FYI n.o.v.a (ipad first person shooter) is on sale for a buck today.

dyao, Friday, 13 August 2010 13:23 (fifteen years ago)

wait you guys play on hard??? i just play on normal. is it more fun on hard? can you do better?

one thing i wish i could do is throw over to first.

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)

I'm playing season mode so why not just go for it imo

you can throw to first by tapping the runner icon (also you can see if he's going to steal because the runner in the icon will start to run, so start tapping furiously where the 2B icon is when you see that) (still haven't thrown anybody out yet)

dyao, Friday, 13 August 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

i too have been playing 9 innings a bunch, based off of this thread. Good recommendation!

is there a way to adjust the difficulty in season mode, once you've started? I think I'm on normal mode, but I'm 6-1 already and I don't really want to end up winning 138 games this season.

Sinbad (Z S), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:37 (fifteen years ago)

*dorky moment* I did 138 in my head, but I just took my current winning percentage (85.7%) and applied it to 162 games, and wound up with 138.8 projected wins for the season.

YES

Sinbad (Z S), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:39 (fifteen years ago)

(still haven't thrown anybody out yet)

ditto. haven't stolen a base either.

the Xbox 360 controller, which looks like a catamaran (jamescobo), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:59 (fifteen years ago)

btw all of iD's games are on sale right now. Doom II RPG for a buck!

the Xbox 360 controller, which looks like a catamaran (jamescobo), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:59 (fifteen years ago)

(still haven't thrown anybody out yet)

ditto. haven't stolen a base either.

I've stolen 2, been thrown out stealing maybe 10 times. With stolen bases, and close plays at any base, the AI is totally strict. You must be clearly, obviously, way safe. Anything else is frustrating. (glad I didn't choose the stolen base goal at the beginning of the season!)

The part I have the most trouble with is baserunning, especially in situations where you want one runner to advance and another to stay. I always end up missing the tiny icon repeatedly, and then by the time I manage to press it I'm basically just running into an out.

Z S, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:03 (fifteen years ago)

In other words, I have lots of games where I wind up with 10-15 hits and 3 runs or something because of all the baserunning mistakes.

Z S, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:03 (fifteen years ago)

me too! I just never try to stretch hits anymore (unless I'm using rollins, dude can run)

dyao, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

One thing I'm worried about, though, over the course of a season - do the other teams improve as well? I'm worried because if I'm already winning most of my games at the beginning of a season, with a bunch of low-level cards, won't I just be mowing people down halfway through with a bunch of rare and platinum card players?

Z S, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

One thing that bugs me about base advancing is that there isn't any nuance. If I want the 3rd base guy to advance to home, and there's a guy on 1st base, and hit the advance button, they both move -- which can lead to the inning ending early instead of the extra run I'm shooting for.

Mordy, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:19 (fifteen years ago)

That's the thing, there's a way to do it - you can press the button corresponding to the baserunner you want to advance, and they'll advance by themselves and the other runner will stay. So it's possible. But unfortunately in practical terms it's very difficult to accomplish, it just never seems to work reliably.

Z S, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:20 (fifteen years ago)

Hmmm, I'll have to mess around with it. I only ever noticed the two buttons -- the red one and the green one.

Mordy, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

Woo. 8-8 against the Mets until the 11th inning when Ryan Howard smacked a homerun out of the park and then Brad Lidge closed down the other side (after Madsen panicked and loaded up the bases). <3 u 9 Innings

Mordy, Sunday, 15 August 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

bought & won 1st game 7-5 when luis castillo hit a 2 run hr in the bottom of the 8th (so realistic! lol)

johnny crunch, Sunday, 15 August 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

i'm still playing the old version, can't wait to play with real players (though i sort of like how dinky the graphics are.. it reminds me of the great Micro League Baseball - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroLeague_Baseball )

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Monday, 16 August 2010 10:35 (fifteen years ago)

im really dumb but i cant for the life of me figure out how to use the cards im getting..? is it cuz im in season mode i cant swap them in? do i really have to play 162 games to use my jeff suppan rare card!>?!?@

johnny crunch, Monday, 16 August 2010 11:09 (fifteen years ago)

you exit league mode and go to my cardbox, then you can swap and level up your players and stuff

(have feeling you're gonna need to buy their 'assist' cards or w/e for 99 cents a pop because the failure rate oncey ou get past level 3 is pretty high and it costs thousands of points a try too)

dyao, Monday, 16 August 2010 12:20 (fifteen years ago)

i was in my cardbox for like 40(ok like 5) minutes last night! i managed to swap my cheerleader but couldnt figure out players

johnny crunch, Monday, 16 August 2010 13:00 (fifteen years ago)

You go into your player box (leftmost tab), doubletap on the player you want to replace, then switch to your bench (the tabs in the middle) and doubletap on the player you want to substitute in. I agree, btw, it's not intuitive at all!

Z = far | S = tzs (Z S), Monday, 16 August 2010 16:28 (fifteen years ago)

the disappearance of apollo creed (s1ocki), Tuesday, 17 August 2010 02:49 (fifteen years ago)

the disappearance of apollo creed (s1ocki), Tuesday, 17 August 2010 02:59 (fifteen years ago)

Guys I just thought of an idea for a new game

Drop 7 9 innings baseball

Z = far | S = tzs (Z S), Tuesday, 17 August 2010 03:26 (fifteen years ago)

woah u blew my mind

Mordy, Tuesday, 17 August 2010 03:37 (fifteen years ago)

i am interested

the disappearance of apollo creed (s1ocki), Tuesday, 17 August 2010 03:49 (fifteen years ago)

s1ocki when you say 4s are truly evil i feel as though you've elevated to another plane of wizardry. i am still on the humble grasshopper plane of getting rid of 1s and 6s. 4s seems like a friend - so easy to dispose of! do you mean that 4s are evil in the end game? because yes, there i can agree.

progressive cuts (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 August 2010 11:54 (fifteen years ago)

kinda hate how the computer in 9 innings will let you pitch 5 perfect innings and then belt off 3 doubles in a row despite you pitching everything to them outside the strike zone

but the computer lets you do that sometimes too

I don't think I've played a game yet where the final combined score was less than 10 runs

dyao, Tuesday, 17 August 2010 12:05 (fifteen years ago)

i've had 1-0 games in the previous versh of 9 innings
