i think i'll finally get this today

man am i gonna have some BELIEFS 2 share w/u guys

i believe the falcons will make the playoffs, so that probably makes _2_

a coupla points for later elaboration

1. when you try to stack actions in a battle with several opponents (by several I mean >3 ha ha) the turn based nature of the battle system becomes a little bit frustrating. step outside your gambits with two of your characters and CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE FOUND THE EASTER EGG WHEREIN FINAL FANTASY DECIDES TO ACT LIKE WINDOWS AND SIT THERE FOR FIVE MINUTES WHILE IT THINKS ABOUT WHAT YOU JUST TOLD IT TO DO. Genuinely the most frustrating moment in a game I've had in a long, long, long fucking time. This is a fucking RPG. It should not present me with lag problems.

2. Do not attempt the pharos subterra just because you can kill pylraster. jesus fucking christ on a god damned popsicle stick those fucking toads and their little magical pony friends wiped me twice before I figured out lv66 just wasn't good enough. what in god's name.

3. The gun is good. I don't know if the penis is evil but the gun is good.

oh and 4. if you're going to put in some minigames, try to make the interface at least remotely approachable. the fishing and the footrace game in this are about as atrocious as the problem described in 1, above.

so i, uh, rented this tonight to help put up with my first week of laid off action.

should help take the edge off.

The variety of accents in this game are great, i must say. far better variety than your bog-standard vancouver/l.a.-area sci-fi channel quality.

also but fuck me is there a lot of Star Wars in this game, either directly or thru a co-mingling of sources

Jeez, even the Han Solo character is a bit more of a dandy than one would otherwise hope for

Just played the first Dr Cid boss fight, and was struck by how good the fight music was.

Then i remembered that it sounds almost like the battle overture from Wrath of Khan, which was some of the greatest fight music evah.

can't decide to get this for my new playstation 2 or not

it is cheap
i will enjoy it

cons:
i will spend lots of time on it
i will get angry at myself for enjoying at and spending lots of time on it

altho reading this thread from the top im thinking maybe i never gave it a fair chance i remember thinking it was pointless in the worst way but maybe its worth replaying

i think shadow of the colossus is the only game that makes me miss my ps2.

well i'm deeply loving persona 4 and want to line up another one of these jrpg nonsense games but can't decide if this is going to be horribly over-generic or not.

i have actually thought about buying ffx and ffx-2 as well but that would totally about scratching an itch i really ought not to bother with as opposed to playing games that are 'fun' or 'interesting' or that i 'enjoy'

i really really dug the combat in this game and the way that dungeons sorta "felt." a lot more like an MMO but instead of friends playing, you get peopel you cna program to not suck.

Surprisingly, yes. The fact that each character doesn't have the usual jrpg single-weapon-class slot ilwas a great idea. I wish they had a more pcrpg way of tracking all the miniquests you get involved with

I'm wondering if i'm going to be able to stick with this long enough to beat it. I'm at the 'tower on a distant shore' level.

Carl Agatha needs to finish playing this. I enjoy watching her play it, although I think it would drive me crazy to play it.

10hrs into final fantasy x and can't bring myself to stomach it any longer

never beat ff7, either. 30hrs and got sick of the whole thing. these games are fucking commitments.

on the commitment titch... i was just thinking today abt how in every one of those kinda games anyone who is ever in your party EVER at the end is ON YOUR TEAM 4 LIFE & how ridiculously COMMITTED all of these people who shouldn't be committed to SAVING THE WORLD are to saving the world -- where are the games where someone joins for a scene or an act or whatever? aside from saga series?

I've been playing the Zodiac Age edition on Switch and I'm mesmerized. I thought maybe all Final Fantasies after FF7 were complete trash but this one is really fun and engrossing.

9 and 10 are pretty beloved too! this one's more of a cult favorite

ff9: kinda regular ass fantasy, good
ff10: blitzball, good
ff10-2: dress sphere, good
ff11: bad mmo
ff12: awesome game
ff13, 13-2, 13-3 (didnt play 13-3): fal'cie, l'cie, bad
ff14: good mmo
ff15: AFI dudes, good

i think the few people who made it to 13-3 really liked it but its a character action game?

I gave up on FFX, I kept getting mad at it for being stupid. I might pick it back up once I'm done with XII and VII (which I played before but never finished).

I might revisit 9 too but I dunno if the Switch version is any good?

10 seemed very railroaded to me but maybe i didn't get far enough into it

a lot of them are railroaded for the first half until you get the airship or w/e

first half linear, second half open world / revisiting earlier areas with new purpose is a pretty standard rpg structure
