So did he not make level 60 or something?

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:02 (twenty years ago)

Is it sad that I got really REALLY happy when I picked up the Boots of Valor in a Scholomance run Sunday?

Dan (Geek) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 13:22 (twenty years ago)

No, though impressions are that the tier 0 stuff may be the last time you're happy in this game.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 13:39 (twenty years ago)

Aw, really?

Oh well, here's hoping the expansion pack is awesome; I'm already drooling over the new lvl 70 raid instance in Deadwind Pass (WHICH REMINDS ME NOW THAT I'M 60 I SHOULD CHECK OUT DEADWIND PASS).

Dan (Farmer Brown) Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 17:10 (twenty years ago)

Well, the impression that I got is that farming for the Tier 0 just got wiped out by the new patch (Straholme / Scholomance / Blackrock Depths are 5-man max, Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire are 10-man). So it seems like everything is tuned right, in that you need a good 10-man party for the 10-mans, 20 for the 20, 40 for the 40s, you can't just saddle up with some lame-os and kick the crap out of the Baron 5 times a day until he coughs up. And by all accounts getting a good team all the way through one of the 20 or 40-man dungeons is an incredible feeling (I know it is when you get 5 on-form chars in a standard instance). But then you realise that there's one guy who drops all the legpieces for everyone, and one guy who drops all the headpieces, and so it'll take roughly 40 attempts for them to drop you what you want, and it's not like you can head back in after you finish with nothing, it'll be another week.

(Though a good run with a good team is still fun, and I do regret that I quit the day before my guild was going to have it's first attempt at UBRS)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 18:05 (twenty years ago)

Okay, I now have the Boots and the Belt of Valor! WOOT!

Still, FUCK BLIZZARD AND THEIR "UNSCHEDULED MAINTAINANCE ON THEIR AUTHENTICATION SERVERS" grrrr

Dan (Yay/Fuckers) Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 6 April 2006 03:53 (twenty years ago)

wait, is this the thread where we're yakking about warcraft III too? coz i just started playing it and the main kid totally looks like Triple H(sans facial hair and about 20 years younger) with a doofy californian accent. nothing helps to encourage a fantastical sense of another time & place than just grabbing on the QA guys to voice a main character.

The Warcraft III Thread

It's amazing how much fun playing the AH is now that I've got a level 60! Last night I put 455G worth of stuff up there, some of it at prices designed to manipulate certain markets into rising; I've already caused the 16-slot bag market to zoom up, now it's time to do the same to the Lightforge Belts and the Beast cards.

Dan (Capitalism = Good) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 13:17 (twenty years ago)

Also I now have the Bracers of Valor!

Dan (Must.... Check... Auctions!) Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 13:11 (twenty years ago)

dan, did you check out that song? it'll take some of the pain away.

teh_kit says 'FACES' (g-kit), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 13:12 (twenty years ago)

I assumed that was the same song that had the video of the blossoming night elf romance intercut with heartfelt studio singing of the song and as such I didn't want to experience it without the video.

Yeah, I've tried looking for a clearer copy but it's not happening. I want to read what the peeps at the funeral are saying as they get jacked.

World of Warcraft to the Big Screen
Source: Variety
May 9, 2006

Warner Bros.-based Legendary Pictures has picked up film rights to adapt the popular fantasy video game franchise World of Warcraft and will develop the project with game publisher Blizzard Entertainment, which is owned by Vivendi.

While the "Warcraft" franchise has been around for more than a decade, the most recent iteration, the megahit online title "World of Warcraft," has transformed the video game industry.

Unlike most games, where players pay $50 once and play until they're done, more than 6 million people around the world pay $14.99 per month to participate in the multiplayer game.

Legendary put up half the money for Warners' Batman Begins and the upcoming Superman Returns.

kingfish doesn't live here anymore (kingfish 2.0), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 05:41 (twenty years ago)

I've been very angry at my computer because if I go do an instance, I get booted off the server for no discernable reason. The only plus side to this is that the inability to grind/quest for my Valor set meant I had time to go grind for Timbermaw faction.

Dan (Stupid Peripheral Software) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 16:55 (twenty years ago)

i hope the movie is machinima!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 17:13 (twenty years ago)

European wowing ilxor's to the Quel'Thalas realm please.

alan w (uzumaki), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

Oh and patch 1.11 today. I wish it wasn't taking so long.

alan w (uzumaki), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

I'm just happy I had the background downloader working over the past week so I alread had 75% of it by the time release day rolled around. The floating fortresses are BADASS.

I guess I really need to start focusing on my lvl 60 as opposed to levelling alts; I still only have 4 pieces of the Valor set and my PVP rank has never been above Seargent. I think I'm more suited towards casters than melee classes, though, at least in parties. (Also my priest is just more fun to play.)

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

Good idea having it running beforehand. 98% done now, shouldn't be long till i'm seeing some badass floating fortresses for myself :)

Jeffrey only needs his gloves to complete his beaststalker set and is rank 7 in pvp now i think. I'm only at lvl 33 with my warlock so far, so such things are a long way off.

I'm more suited to casters to i believe. Although i love hunters most in solo play.

alan w (uzumaki), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah, hunters are MAD FUN to play and are total grind machines! I've been bouncing back and forth between a priest (41) and a hunter (24) for the past month.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 16:44 (nineteen years ago)

i am mad fun.

jeffrey (johnson), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

half of the girls I know (and some gay dudes) keep telling me that this game is destroying their relationships.

penny arcade: how do the writers/artists find the time to be that unfunny?

Persecuted Decals (ex machina), Thursday, 22 June 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, I actually thought that one was quite good. But then, I've never played WoW.

melton mowbray's APOCALYPTO! (adr), Thursday, 22 June 2006 21:50 (nineteen years ago)

it's just like a torrent system, i thought.

jeffrey (johnson), Thursday, 22 June 2006 23:12 (nineteen years ago)

You're missing jon's point, which is that Penny Arcade has been proven by science to be unfunny. To jon.

four weeks pass...
How do I shot update? Come on lads, what's happening? Who's winning if such a thing is possible in WoW?!

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Friday, 21 July 2006 09:08 (nineteen years ago)

hahahaha

Currently my warrior is lvl 60 and languishing from neglect because I'm not really digging the endgame content/time commitment. My priest is 46 and my hunter is 29 and both are a buttload more fun to play.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Friday, 21 July 2006 13:28 (nineteen years ago)

I am totally sure what endgame content means but YaY! You've been not putting the time in? For shame. Is it possible to get pix of these characters?
