Just cancelled my xbox gold auto-renewal. Glad one can finally do this online, even though the way they have it set up is pretty confusing. It feels good to be free.

consensus on the sale picks seems to be: defense grid is good even if you don't like td games; darwinia+ is good; and PB winterbottom is diet braid; and, chime and rocket riot are aight if you have some points hanging about your account doing nothing

really liked the pc game from 100 years ago, i heard these were so-so

xp i hated braid tbh. and i'm not so into endless-wave fight management type games either.

yeah me either... I tried the demo of defense grid and it seemed ok I guess but I find those games really much of a muchness

i was momentarily excited by the demo of toy soldiers (love those little plastic men) but it was not so good imo

tempted by one of the board games on xbl but can decide on one out of catan, carcassone or ticket 2 ride

original xbox games online used to work fine via the 360 until a few months ago, when they finally canceled support

i mean i get that whatever they'll do next will be basically the exact same thing except it'll be KINECTED and they'll own the intellectual property and they'll make it better but the smokescreen of "it wasn't profitable" when they're throwing money away on a motion detector and reaping hundreds of millions of xbox live memberships and you STILL have to sit through a shitton of commercials for phones and orange drink is BULLSHIT

I played a bunch of this last night and it totally rules.

Edge magazine's cover story this month is basically "Kinect: the new 32X?".

Ouch. It's true, though, I have a 360 and I'm not even remotely considering buying it.

I'll get it if they come out with a game that is fun to play.

But it does not sound like that will happen at launch.

That Harmonix game could be good, but then again they made a game for the PS2 eye toy that was also allegedly good..

It looks like it has the appeal of a lot of Wii games - basically it gets played with great enthusiasm a few times at parties, then shoved into a closet for the rest of eternity. This in no way impacts its chances of success, though. Kinect doesn't look worth the money at all, but if I was going to get one I'd probably choose that game over most of the other options.

Man, so I was marathon sessioning Dragon's Age when Xbox Live went down. It claims it's up on the website, and my internet works perfectly, but my Xbox just won't connect to Live. At least DA doesn't really require Live to play.

so I'll get my 360 back later this week, after about 14 months away. This is a ~big~ question but have I missed anything great on 360 since then? I don't play FPSs. I guess rhythm games are last year's thing now? I'm pretty psyched to finally play Beatles Rock Band, and it looks like a million other rhythm games came out, which are probably cheap now. Any big suggestions for XBLA?

yeah I may try that! I liked Bully a lot, didn't care much for GTA4 b/c getting from mission to mission was too tedious, but horse riding should reduce that aspect of it.

Beatles Rock Band is amazing if you have friends who are willing to try to do the harmonies with you ... and pretty good even if you don't.

Shadow Complex, Trials, Limbo, Braid, and Geometry Wars 2 are some of the better xbla games.

I have Braid, but I think the others came out after I left, so I'm interested in checking them out.

Are extra microphones reasonably cheap? Because it would be fab to sing harmonies with my kids, but I'd have to buy the microphones to do this.

There's this new game I can't remember the name of -- but it's apparently like Braid but based on silent movie themes? And the protagonist is a ridiculous villain with a greasy mustache or something?
