Jordan, yeah; it's not for the faint of heart. Mostly about the mundanity and bureaucracy of death and what happens to your shit. Pretty sad, scary stuff.

Impaler - best doc ive seen in years

Fall From Grace was poorly made, I thought. I really hate when I encounter that, a really interesting subject matter, but poorly made doc.

its been a while since i saw it, and it certainly wasnt balanced (not that thats really possible) but idk, it was kind of terrifying and pulled back the curtain a little bit, at least for me.

I watched F for Fake this morning – it was so much colorful FUN!

We Live in Public is pretty great; the craft is, like, 7 out of 10, but the subject is so weird and compelling.

The "First Person" episode on that guy was great, and really interesting. Having seen it makes me kind of worried the docu wld be a redux of it – was tat the case?

I think the Starz network has a contract.
I swear, the first twelve minutes of Up is some of the most effective filmmaking ever; tears me up every time.

Cube 2 is awful and horrible (as if you needed to be told)

i might eventually see it anyway just out of curiosity, liked the first one... but that bad, huh?

definitely recommend The Messenger; really really good filmmaking, quality acting, excellent script, utterly apolitical

It's not as good as the first, but thought it was an okay effort. The ending was pleasantly downbeat, though I could have done with a different explanation for the construct. Better than most of the f/x-challenged movies that the SyFy Channel shows.

Triangle is a pretty good mindfuck for a B movie. the cover and summary make it out to be a slasher flick which its thankfully not.

Big thumbs up for "The Maid", very smart, very engaging and it never goes where you think it will go.

mentioned this on my weird netflix streaming review thread, but "dear zachary" (doc) just destroyed me. do not watch unless you are emotionally prepared, it is depressing and brutal, but amazing.

yea dear zachary is rough. a lotta the editing/music really plays into it too & felt soo manipulative to me (tho is it really manipulative if theres no other way to react to the subject matter? idk)

OK for all zero people who were curious, "We Live in Public" is notably different than the (still worth watching) episode of First Person about JOsh Harris, which only talked about his Gilligan obsession and his We Live In Public site (the one w/just him & his girlfriend) and none of his other projects (or fucking Luvvy). Josh Harris is the craziest guy, so "We Live in Public" was great for discovering the many varieties of ways in which this guy was/is insane. I think the last 20 minutes showed Josh at his most unhinged. OTOH that was the part with the worst & biggest quantity of shitty voiceover. I did not really need an annoying narrator to tell me that Facebook is sort of being like watched in public, too.

Watched that the other day. Wow, I hated him. Therefore hating the movie.

yeah judging purely from the first person ep he seemed to be a grade a crepe, not sure i want more of him tbh

I thought Tyson was a poorly made doc but Tyson himself was a very interesting trainwreck in the interview.
