Despite the temptation to chop and change between horses (different breeds offer different levels of obedience, speed or stamina), there are benefits in sticking to a favourite, as in time you build loyalty which results in stamina bonuses, allowing you to run at full pelt for longer before tiring the horse. As you begin to clock up the miles together across, hill, canyon and stream, you form a bond - and this relationship between protagonist and transport, the kind alluded to in the great Westerns, is undoubtedly one of Red Dead Redemption's greatest successes.

this is so the kind of thing that makes u say cool when u read it in a review but then either has no bearing on the game or is just kind of annoying (like the "hanging out with pals" part of GTA4)

although i've been waiting for a game to really realize the relationship between protagonist and transport, that has been alluded to in so many great westerns

man the reviews are so positive on this...

it's really fun, so far. lots of hunting and fighting off gangs.

only complaint is the bounty system. seems like it will take the fun out of being a villain, but i have yet to fully test it.

Rented the game this morning and I just played it for four or five hours straight. The game is fantastic and fun etc but I don't think I can afford to give this game the thirty or forty hours it deserves and for that I feel old and ashamed. :-(

I was off on the first mission and afterwards some dude comes upon me getting attacked by a pack of wild dogs. I shot him to death on accident.

What's the verdict on this game? PS3 or 360? Is the online any good? Worth waiting for? I can play it now if I get the 360 version but if I was going to get PS3, which is where I do my online, I'd have to wait.

i think i'm gonna get this for ps3 today unless somebody convinces me 360 is a better choice

360 has better framerate and crisper graphics (for some reason, Rockstar locked the PS3 at 640p, not the 720p of the 360), PS3 has some free extra outfits like a tophat, and my friends are really surprised by the fun of the online game (they're on the 360, BTW).
