I had 4/4 once when I first got my machine, and it turned out it was because I had bought one of those external cooling units that you plug into the back of the 360, and then run the power cord through it. Anyway, it was trash, so I got rid of it and then my 360 worked fine after that.

Darksiders is really good; it's basically Arkham Asylum if Ronnie James Dio had been in charge of the plot, but the dungeons are near Zelda quality

OK the first two dungeons are Zelda-quality and then it degenerates into charmless desert hijinks and interminable Portal plagiarism, but it's still pretty good

ha, I KNOW! I knew that The Show was the baseball game I really wanted to play, and that it was PS3 exclusive, but I assumed that there would at least be an average substitute on 360. Maybe 2K10 will end up being really good? I doubt it, based on their track record. 2K9 is truly awful.

I kept telling myself the 2k series would get better, but it kept getting worse. I bought a ps3 just to play the show. =\

I am starting to figure out the hitting!

Ok so this pb winterbottom thing seems pretty great from the demo

THEY HAVE CREATED ANOTHER (jjjusten), Tuesday, 23 February 2010 09:25 (sixteen years ago)

I would be quite impressed if it keeps up that standard of pithy verse throughout the full game

Was telling my friend about it and he was saying "fuck off, that doesn't exist"; this was before I told him about the protagonist being constantly taunted by an enormous cosmic pie

MPx4A, Tuesday, 23 February 2010 10:03 (sixteen years ago)

I'm ten minutes in and Mass Effect 2 is already GOTY material.

Mordy, Tuesday, 23 February 2010 20:56 (sixteen years ago)

I'm ten hours in and it's disappointment OTY material.

JimD, Friday, 26 February 2010 09:00 (sixteen years ago)

hahaha wow that darksiders demo takes a long time to download, lol is hueg. also, do not want so far

RAYBAN L01US J@gg3r (jjjusten), Friday, 26 February 2010 21:11 (sixteen years ago)

I've played much more of ME2 and I still stand by what I said. Really well written, lots of fun. I love the missions -- some of them are incredible. Esp the Jack related ones (both the recruitment mission and the loyalty mission were A+)

Mordy, Friday, 26 February 2010 22:26 (sixteen years ago)

any of you yankee fuxx pick up deadly premonition?

Hideous Lamp (cozen), Saturday, 27 February 2010 01:10 (sixteen years ago)

Darksiders is a pretty decent God of War knockoff with some RPG elements for variety.

Bayonetta is much more fun and playable than the demo led me to believe.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Monday, 1 March 2010 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

I know I talked some trash about MLB 2K9 above, but after playing the demo for 2K10 a few times last week I went ahead and preordered it (release date is tomorrow). I can only compare one demo to the other, but it quickly became apparent that 2K10 is a big improvement. The new development team (and a full development cycle) must have really helped. No, it won't be as good as The Show, but at least it's not something you have to suffer through anymore. This quick early retail copy first impressions review is pretty encouraging, too.

^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

Turning a double play on 2K10 feels nice, a challenge but not impossible, and intuitive, a big turnaround from 2K9.

^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

Pre-ordered Red Dead + FFXXIIIwhatever today.

Mordy, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 03:46 (sixteen years ago)

I liked the 2K10 demo too in terms of gameplay, but The Show's graphics are sooooooo much better.

Thinking about buying a second Xbox for the house. Has anyone does this? Is it a pain to recover your gamertag on each Xbox every time?

Ok wow this just cause 2 demo

Thinking about buying a second Xbox for the house. Has anyone does this? Is it a pain to recover your gamertag on each Xbox every time?

I have a friend who has his profile saved on a memory card, and doing so allows him to avoid the hassle of recovering his gamertag when he goes from one box to another.

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Thursday, 11 March 2010 07:17 (sixteen years ago)

That would be the same as just moving the hard drive between the xboxes, right?

fuckin' (jeff), Thursday, 11 March 2010 08:39 (sixteen years ago)

No, I think you still need to reauthorise content if you switch hard drives. Might only effect XBLA titles, but it's still a pain.

JimD, Thursday, 11 March 2010 09:16 (sixteen years ago)

Also, a memory card is very small and a hard drive isn't.

cozen, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 10:19 (sixteen years ago)

short on atmos, got crap when the aliens came in. not quite sure why, obviously nothing wrong in principle with non-human baddies in fps, it just felt like they were no fun to engage, lacking in a certain animus.

Has anybody bothered to try out the new Splinter Cell demo yet?

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 18 March 2010 21:52 (sixteen years ago)

what's the consensus on darksiders?

cozen, Saturday, 20 March 2010 12:31 (sixteen years ago)

Dungeons slightly variable in quality and it turns into a bit of a slog towards the end but I played it all through and mostly enjoyed it.

MPx4A, Saturday, 20 March 2010 13:38 (sixteen years ago)

Saw darksiders is about 15 quid on gamestation this weekend. Figure it's worth a buy.

What are people playing on xbox live atm? Signed up recently and not sure where to start as I don't have COD and no one plays PES09 anymore apparently :)

BiscuitVoodoo is the xbl name if anyone wants to kick my ass at a variety of games.

CraigG, Saturday, 20 March 2010 19:01 (sixteen years ago)

Does having a wireless adapter cause lag in x-box games? I still haven't got x-box live yet

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 20 March 2010 19:36 (sixteen years ago)

I definitely prefer having a wired connection.

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Saturday, 20 March 2010 19:44 (sixteen years ago)

wired is better I imagine for downloading off XBLA but actual online MP only uses around 15kbps (if it's even that much) so I don't imagine you're at any disadvantage in tht respect going with wireless

I will say - I would never pay the price M$ asks for the wireless adapter. it's possible to bridge your internet from a laptop to your xbox but if you do that it is only possible to get a moderate (not open) NAT

cozen, Saturday, 20 March 2010 19:59 (sixteen years ago)

that's not a problem unless you are trying to play with someone else with a moderate NAT or if you're playing halo 3 (for some reason it's really pernickety)

cozen, Saturday, 20 March 2010 20:00 (sixteen years ago)

It is ridiculous what they are asking for with those adapters. You're way better off hunting down a cheap wireless bridge, or picking up a DD-WRT capable router that lets you turn a standard wireless router into a bridge. Also has the nice benefit of giving you a 5-port ethernet-to-wireless bridge instead of 1 port, so you can hook up any other systems/computers/set top players you have lying around.

Nhex, Saturday, 20 March 2010 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

i totally agree that the price is insane, but they do work pretty damned well. they're evil fucks.

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 20 March 2010 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

got mine hooked up to one of those electric-plug based network systems, works pretty well.

problem chimp (Porkpie), Saturday, 20 March 2010 21:52 (sixteen years ago)

I thought Darksiders was kinda fun but it's nothing special.

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Saturday, 20 March 2010 23:22 (sixteen years ago)

it's been pretty well received

cozen, Saturday, 20 March 2010 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

huh this splinter cell demo kind of sucks

First and Last and Safeways ™ (jjjusten), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 08:55 (sixteen years ago)

i mean i am prepared for shitty plot exposition and voice acting in my video games but this is just embarrassing. also game mechanics seem kind of broken? or i am just shitty at this.

First and Last and Safeways ™ (jjjusten), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 08:57 (sixteen years ago)

how is perfect dark jim?

cozen, Tuesday, 23 March 2010 09:06 (sixteen years ago)

It's odd. It's all shiny and fast and smooth and HD, but at the same time it still looks like an N64 game, so that's sort of jarring. I've not played very much single player, online is great fun though. Maps may be a little unbalanced in retrospect - there are lots of little camping sites which weren't really usable in the original split screen multiplayer (you couldn't camp in them without everyone else knowing you were there) but are kind of unassailable once everyone's online. But I can't think of any other games where getting pwned repeatedly is still funny and fun.

Biggest problem I'm having with it though is motion sickness, which is really odd because I've not had that with any other fps since quake. 20 minutes in the temple and I need to go for a lie down.
