I mean I don't even want fancy graphics - lots of the artwork by GW painters is great, digitised versions of their landscapes and models would be perfect

carcassonne on the 360 is excellent if you turn the music off and add your own.

I tried Ticket to Ride and the presentation was fine but the board game didn't really appeal to me. It was the first time I'd tried it though.
― real bears playing hockey (polyphonic), Sunday, 17 January 2010 18:50 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah, I play a little Catan on the 360. Good stuff.
― Mordy, Sunday, 17 January 2010 20:02 (sixteen years ago)
I tried the (very short) Death by Cube demo, and didn't like it at all. The most Robotron-like of the Robotron clones. I think the thing I liked least about it was how stiff the angles of your shot felt, compared to how fluid it feels in Geometry Wars.
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 20 January 2010 18:12 (sixteen years ago)
ok so in the running "how did this even get to the stage where they try to sell it to you" game, i suggest that everyone go to games on demand and check out the screen shots for "Brave - A Warrior's Tale"

Darksiders is really good; it's basically Arkham Asylum if Ronnie James Dio had been in charge of the plot, but the dungeons are near Zelda quality

Ok, I'm terrible at fighting games, but I want this now Hori pretty bad:http://www.hori.jp/products/multi/controller/rap_premium_vlx/360.html
Maybe it'll improve my Street Fighter skills?

Guys I bought an Xbox360 last night! I know, cutting edge, but hey. My profile name (forget the proper term for this, "friendtag"? whatever) is Z2S5 if anyone wants to be my virtual friend.
All I have right now is Mass Effect II, so I am currently SQUINTING AT THE SCREEN. Goddammit, I wish one of the reviews I had read would have mentioned that all the font in the game is size 2 Arial Narrow, FUCK.

Are there only two baseball games, MLB2K10 and The Bigs? If so, that's disappointing because I'm looking for a good sim to play along with the new season. I tried out a demo of MBL2K9 last night and *bllurlluuuurrrrrggghhhh*'d all over my rug.
― ^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Sunday, 7 February 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)
two baseball games coming out this year, I should say.
nevermind, I see that the 2K series has exclusive third party rights until 2012.;_;

ha, I KNOW! I knew that The Show was the baseball game I really wanted to play, and that it was PS3 exclusive, but I assumed that there would at least be an average substitute on 360. Maybe 2K10 will end up being really good? I doubt it, based on their track record. 2K9 is truly awful.
― ^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Sunday, 7 February 2010 17:54 (sixteen years ago)
any experience with 4/4 rrod? my bros went down
― bnw, Sunday, 7 February 2010 19:18 (sixteen years ago)
I had 4/4 once when I first got my machine, and it turned out it was because I had bought one of those external cooling units that you plug into the back of the 360, and then run the power cord through it. Anyway, it was trash, so I got rid of it and then my 360 worked fine after that.

OK the first two dungeons are Zelda-quality and then it degenerates into charmless desert hijinks and interminable Portal plagiarism, but it's still pretty good

I kept telling myself the 2k series would get better, but it kept getting worse. I bought a ps3 just to play the show. =\

I would be quite impressed if it keeps up that standard of pithy verse throughout the full game
Was telling my friend about it and he was saying "fuck off, that doesn't exist"; this was before I told him about the protagonist being constantly taunted by an enormous cosmic pie

I've played much more of ME2 and I still stand by what I said. Really well written, lots of fun. I love the missions -- some of them are incredible. Esp the Jack related ones (both the recruitment mission and the loyalty mission were A+)

― Hideous Lamp (cozen), Saturday, 27 February 2010 01:10 (sixteen years ago)
Darksiders is a pretty decent God of War knockoff with some RPG elements for variety.
Bayonetta is much more fun and playable than the demo led me to believe.
― Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Monday, 1 March 2010 18:53 (sixteen years ago)
I know I talked some trash about MLB 2K9 above, but after playing the demo for 2K10 a few times last week I went ahead and preordered it (release date is tomorrow). I can only compare one demo to the other, but it quickly became apparent that 2K10 is a big improvement. The new development team (and a full development cycle) must have really helped. No, it won't be as good as The Show, but at least it's not something you have to suffer through anymore. This quick early retail copy first impressions review is pretty encouraging, too.
― ^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 02:55 (sixteen years ago)
Turning a double play on 2K10 feels nice, a challenge but not impossible, and intuitive, a big turnaround from 2K9.

Pre-ordered Red Dead + FFXXIIIwhatever today.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 03:46 (sixteen years ago)
I liked the 2K10 demo too in terms of gameplay, but The Show's graphics are sooooooo much better.

Thinking about buying a second Xbox for the house. Has anyone does this? Is it a pain to recover your gamertag on each Xbox every time?
― fuckin' (jeff), Saturday, 6 March 2010 21:49 (sixteen years ago)
Ok wow this just cause 2 demo
― First and Last and Safeways (jjjusten), Thursday, 11 March 2010 06:49 (sixteen years ago)
I have a friend who has his profile saved on a memory card, and doing so allows him to avoid the hassle of recovering his gamertag when he goes from one box to another.
― Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Thursday, 11 March 2010 07:17 (sixteen years ago)
That would be the same as just moving the hard drive between the xboxes, right?
― fuckin' (jeff), Thursday, 11 March 2010 08:39 (sixteen years ago)
No, I think you still need to reauthorise content if you switch hard drives. Might only effect XBLA titles, but it's still a pain.
― JimD, Thursday, 11 March 2010 09:16 (sixteen years ago)
Also, a memory card is very small and a hard drive isn't.
