that you recommend
Dunno. I always have the curry chicken. May try oxtail soon. The places around me serve a sort of general side salad; have never investigated a lot of vegetable dishes.
Don't roti have lots of veg components? Squash and stuff?

Jerk chicken is so great. Tijule Co. makes my favorite jerk marinades -- the mild version has the brand name Nel's Old Style and Juliana is the hot version.

ok this has given me some ideas http://www.flickr.com/groups/caribbeanveggies/pool/i am getting bored of my old standbys and i need different ideas i guess. would like to try some kind of okra/potato/something curry. also farmers' market season is here so it's a good time. peas and rice is almost done. smells good. i like anything w/ coconut milk in it too.

also i can never find msg-free sofrito. maybe i shouldn't worry about it but i always think it'll give me cancer.

yeah i was looking at stuff like that too but anything with dough in it is a pain because my kitchen is tiny
yeah i worry about sofrito so i never use it. you can make your own sofrito.

yeah true, i wonder how long homemade keeps though. i'm usually cooking for one so i don't use stuff fast enough.

rice and peas came out ok. i used this recipe http://eatjamaican.com/recipes/riceandpeas-recipe.html + dried beans rather than canned (and probably the equivalent of 2 cans--1 would not be enough), brown rice, salt + pepper. the boiling scotch bonnet thing never makes stuff hot enough though (imo)
