Okay, my first thread and I guess smoothies is not really cooking but I hope I'll still get a few answers. I have bought myself a mini-blender because I like smoothies so much. The only one I'm drinking/preparing these days is a vanilla banana yoghurt (OJ, vanilla milk and 1/2 banana) but I want different ones as I realize I'll soon grow tired of this one. Anyone know of any good smoothies?

Uh, that's vanilla banana smoothie, not yoghurt. Does it show I'm obsessed with yoghurt?

Well, usually I just do:

1 c. yoghurt
1 c. oj
1 banana
oh, maybe a tbsp or so of honey

And then I throw in whatever fruit I have around to add. Frozen berries are good for that.

It ends up being about 2 glasses of smoothie, though.

This is pretty much the same as your recipe of course but if you don't use vanilla you might have an easier time throwing other things in.

Some are harder than others, but they're basically yoghurt, ice, a little cream, and whatever ingredients you're adding for flavor. I think I've posted my favorite lassi recipe to the board -- it's a mint lassi -- and that one's a little trickier than some, but all in all they're just smoothies/milkshakes/etc. Throw in some mango a splash of rose water and you're pretty much good to go.

eight years pass...

Bought a vacuum sealer machine and made 30 vacuum sealed bags of smoothie materials that are now in my freezer. 1/2 of them are kale, mint, ginger, lemon, apple but the other 1/2 are a medley. Feel like such a life hacker.

banana+spinach is a good combination. i have a bunch of hemp seeds and chia seeds i am supposed to put in my smoothies for protein and whatnot but i've been forgetting.

no doubt, it sounds tremendous. wanted to make that kalemintgingerlemonapple one you mentioned but was out of ginger. made my first kale smoothie today: pineapple, apple juice, soy milk, blueberries, bananas, KALE. was a touch too sweet but really good

that does sound good. pineapple and kale work really well together. i find a lot of the smoothie recipes i come across on the internet end up being too sweet, as the instructions call for adding a lot of fruit to smother the natural bitterness of the kale. i don't think it's bad to taste the kale as long as it's softened a bit by some sort of fruit.

Yeah I've heard that too. But it seems healthier (to me) to get dietary fat from other sources, like avocadoes, almonds, and fish. If i was consuming mass quantities of full fat yogurt as a smoothie base it seems like that would be too much. Idk, it would be good to get a NN to weigh in

let me give you all some inspiration of the At Least I Didn't Do That variety.

the other day at the store i picked up some ingredients for my classic recipe, ~Innocent Smoothie~. it's pretty simple: yogurt, milk, strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, and protein powder. when i got home my wife said "wow, those concord grapes are really fragrant" and i, a person with so much room to grow within my cranium, replied "yes they really are!" without considering any of the implications of our exchange.

today i made my Innocent Smoothie, and couldn't help but notice that the blueberries were a bit larger and darker than usual. also, they were all attached to stems. hmm, that's odd! persevering, i picked all of the mysterious blueberries off of the stems and continued making the smoothie. whoa, turns out those blueberries are actually concord grapes, weird! each of these tasty concord grapes come fully equipped with a hard seed, so i'm currently crunching down my innocent smoothie. while typing out this eating report, though, i've gotten kind of used to it, and according to the reputable article "Are Grape Seeds Edible? The Answer Might Blow Your Mind, they're actually kind of good for me! so look out smoothie nation, concord grapes are IN this season
