V: The first one I saw and in many ways my favorite. Mr. Perfect vs The Blue Blazer = 5 1/2 minutes of awesomeness
VI: Cuz I was a major Ultimate Warrior fanboy and could hold it over my Hogan fanboy friends in 5th grade.
VII: Dude, Jake The Snake vs Rick Martel blindfold match. Probably wouldn't impress me today but back then my friends and I thought this was the coolest shit ever. I seem to recall having a blindfold match against one of them, forget who won.
X: Razor Ramon. Shawn Michaels. Ladder Match. Period.
XIV: Stone Cold wins the belt and HBK gives his last performance for a good long while.

I was happy to see Macho Man receive the belt but I was an embarrasingly fervent Hogan mark so I was dissapointed to see him eliminated from the tournament.
I dug the Brutus "the barbar" Beefcake vs. Honky Tonk Man cause Honky is my all time favorite old school heel.
Once it gets past #7 I have difficulty distinguishing between the Wrestlemanias.

I've seen all of them (except for parts of XX).
XVII is clearly the best. III for a couple of great matches plus the obvious historical significance.XX -- longer than life itself but some GREAT matchesX -- the most overrated WM by far (two great matches but the rest is CRAP) but WHOA are those two matches greatVIII -- big crowd, Flair v Savage, Bret v Piper, etc.
Most underrated = VII. If you've never seen Warrior v Savage + its aftermath, DO IT.

Refresh my memory plz. I def. remember SOMETHING going down after the match, but memory is hazy.
― AaronHz (AaronHz), Saturday, 18 September 2004 07:51 (nineteen years ago) link
It was a career v career match, which Savage lost. Queen Sherri, pissed off that her sugar daddy was now retired, attacked Savage after the match, which brought out Elizabeth (who had been watching the match in the audience) for the save. Which led to the tearful reunion after 2+ years apart (in storyline terms).

Spent my weekend watching wrestlemania III, VIII, XVII and XX. Totally awesome way to spend my time off, I had forgotton, how much I love WFF and the wrestling story lines. Macho Man and Rick Flair stand out to me as heroes. I know have my geek on and want to watch more. Question is, where do I start? Do I trawl through from the beginning or do I go for a run of them? Really enjoyed VIII, it just felt like it was WWF at it's best. Wooooo Hooooooo!

X for Shawn/Razor ladder match and Owen/Bret. XII for the Iron Man match (p much the best match ever not to involve Ricky Steamboat in some way). Personally I really like 21 too, even if it did have the eye-roll Hollywood skits and Big Show in a nappy, the matches were awesome (Shawn-Angle, Cena, Batista and Orton all getting their genuine main event pushes etc.) and it had the first Money In The Bank!

most inexplicable mania mainstream celebrity appearances? 14 has gennifer flowers and pete rose (trolling the boston crowd). 11 has jonathan taylor thomas and jenny mccarthy and pamela anderson and, uh, nicholas turturro from NYPD blue.

I think over the next 7 days I'm gonna watch like 14 WM matches. I'm thinking:
King Kong Bundy v. Hillbilly Jim w/midgetsBlue Blazer v. PerfectRockers v. Twin TowersHogan v. SavageOwen v. BretDiesel v. Shawnmaybe Taker v. Sid? is that the one where Sid shit himself?Angle v. Jericho v. BenoitX7 steve v. rockHHH v. Jerichosteve v. scott hallgoldberg v. lesnarcena v. hhhflair v. michaelsrey v. punk
― a hoy hoy, Sunday, 30 March 2014 19:09 (ten years ago) link
I think the Sid shitting himself story happened at a house show. I watched Sid vs Taker a long time ago, I didn't think it was nearly as bad as it's made out to be. At least it had a decent finish that fans wanted to see, which is more than you can say for Cena vs Miz and Orton vs HHH.
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 1 April 2014 09:42 (ten years ago) link
I've heard the Sid story attributed to Mania 13 more times than anything else, but also house shows and even a Raw, so who really knows
(incidentally, is there anyone with more goofy backstage shit attached to them than Sid? between the shitting, his love for softball, the squirrel story, stabbing Arn Anderson...)

So i've got Sunday free and being in Britain, that's a day before WM (It airs from midnight; I'll most probably wake up at like 4 and grab some illegal version and watch it before I can annoy the girlfriend, who will be asleep like a normal human being.). I'm thinking of watching two Wrestlemanias. I've don't think I've ever seen 18, 22, 24 so I might pick one of them. (I've seen bits.) And the others...
I know suck: 1, 2, 4, 9, 11, 15, 16, 29Have like 1 or 2 great matches: 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 14Seen recently, so no but are great: 17, 19Can't really remember but are really good: 20, 21, 23, 25, 26Remember being a bit shit but not might be: 13, 27, 28
Maybe 20 and 24? Kinda wanna watch Steamboat-Savage and Bret-Austin again but lol there comes a time when its pointless.
― a hoy hoy, Friday, 4 April 2014 17:39 (ten years ago) link
24 is rad and worth watching for sure. Probably the last Mania I really liked but I haven't seen 26 (minus HBK/Taker), which ppl seem to dig
